Absolutely wonderful guy. Ernest picked up my clock from an estate sale where I bought it. He was recommended for transporting it safely to my house, which he did. Very well protected and wrapped. Had to safely take some parts out to transport safely. Put it together explaining everything he was doing and how to wind it safely and take the best care of my grandfather clock. Said it was in great shape and should run for me for years. He is super friendly and obviously knows his stuff. I appreciated all his information about the clock and even what it might cost to have him come to the house down the road should I have any issues with it or it might need a tune up. I told him I'd love to see his shop one day and pick his brain for one of my characters in a fantasy series I'm writing. What a find! I recently moved to Tucson from the east coast. Unfortunately, the hour hand on a hand made MCM style wall clock was broken in the move. I brought my clock to Ernest this afternoon. The elder Ernest fixed the hour hand as well as a couple other small things (he told me he wanted the clock to be perfect)in about 20 minutes, chatting with me as he worked and I waited. When done, he only wanted to charge me under $5 for the small plastic piece he used for the repair. He didn't want any payment for his time! I was amazed that he did this for a walk in whom he never met before. I told Ernest that I found a great authentic MCM wall clock for sale at an antique store nearby, but the owner had no idea if it worked and didn't have a clock key to try it out. When I showed Ernest a picture I took of the clock, he told me he could easily switch it to battery operation without losing the aesthetic of the clock. When he gave me an estimate of what it would cost to do that, I made a mental note to buy the clock in the morning and take it right to Ernest to get it up and running. I have never been treated so warmly by a repair store, and will bring all of my watch/clock repair business to Ernest going forward! read more

Thoroughly dishonorable establishment. (I'd like to use the word "dishonest," but have not done so out of an abundance of legal caution.) I have a Seth Thomas mantle clock that stopped running. It has intrinsic, as well as sentimental, value to me as it was a wedding gift to my parents from my maternal grandparents, all of whom are now deceased. I waited 10 months with assorted excuses and stalling (too many to count), before Ernest's finally acquiesced to my multiple demands for the return of my clock "as is" just to get it out of their hands. For this Ernest charged me $850. To the end they continued to object that they were not finished. Adding insult to injury, the clock was returned with a problem that was nonexistent when initially given to them: the chimes worked incorrectly. AND the clock kept stopping. Ultimately I called a number of clock repair shops in the PHX area, and chose what appeared to be one of the more reputable shops. In approximately 3 months time (less than 1/3 of Ernest's) they completely dissembled, repaired, and reassembled my clock at less than 2/3 the price that Ernest had charged me. It turns out that Ernest's replaced some parts unnecessarily and failed to replace other parts that were worn out and needed replacement. The warranty was 3 years vs Ernest's 1 year. Not surprisingly, my clock has run perfectly since it was delivered back to me. If you have a clock that you genuinely value for whatever the reason, I would avoid Ernest Clock Repair LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! read more

DO NOT PATRONIZE ERNEST WATCH AND CLOCK REPAIR! Spent over $1000 on the repair of a very expensive Omega Speedmaster. He called me a liar and told me to F off. (To be fair I dropped a couple of F bombs myself) If you need an expensive watch repaired I would suggest you find someone more reputable and honest. read more

If you want it done right this is the shop. We took my wifes Great Grandpas Seth Thomas Mission style Grandfather clock to Earnest to see if it was worth fixing. It's a wind up that's at least 100 years old and I thought the mechanism was junk but they assured me they could get it running. After the initial repair and set up at our house we had a couple hick-ups but they stood behind their work and got it all fixed and running like a clock (pun intended). It now runs perfectly and since we have had it back the only thing I have had to do is wind it. I haven't had to reset the time it keeps it perfect. For the amount of work and time spent dialing it in the cost was more than worth it. We have taken two other clocks to them since and still no complaints from us. read more

Not sure how these guys have 5 stars.. Granted, they're nice. But all they showed me is they don't know what they're doing. I dropped off 2 watches for a small repair. They told me it would take 3-4 weeks.. I agreed. Maybe they were that busy. 5 weeks rolls by. I get a call they lost a part to my watch.. But they can get another and install it. For a fee.."After it came in from Barcelona." ... I was annoyed but let them do it. I just wouldn't ever go back. After 3 more weeks of hearing nothing I call back for an update.. They answer the phone can ask if he can call me back and hangs up. I wait 4 hours and no call back. My patience is used up.. I go to pick up my stuff.. They tell me they got the part and can install it in 5 minutes.. I wait 5 minutes.. He comes out telling me he just lost the replacement part.. Then they want to stage a small argument with each other on why the popped of the one piece to lose the lost part.. About to explode I just grumble: "Just ring up the bill.." The guy starts ringing up the bill.. Then whips out a calculator.. I ask.."Why the calculator? It's $70." He replies " You're using a card so we have to charge a 2.9% fee... " At this point I'm about to blow my top... Not just were they going to charge me for a part THEY lost and make me wait 2 months they want to tack on a 2.9% ..I'm sorry... These guys are just silly..How these guys can stay in business like that is just a marvel on itself. read more

What a wonderful business Ernie has. When I walked in with my dad's old Regulator clock that hasn't worked in years and my own small clock that no longer told time even with new batteries, I was greeted by Ernie the owner. His dad was working on a time piece along side his young grandson. First off, they were such pleasant and welcoming people. Ernie looked at my clocks and easily explained what would need to be done and told me what it would probably cost. I was excited to leave my clocks with them. He said it would be a couple of weeks but in five days, I received a call telling me that my clocks were ready. I was anxious to pick them up and, of course, when I got there, the dad was eager to show me exactly what they had done. As it turned out, something they thought they might need to do to the Regulator clock wasn't necessary so my cost was less than it could have been. I just had another one of our 6138-0030 Seikos 'Kakume" completely rebuilt for my son, also a watch enthusiast. It was a bit of a challenge as it was bought used and needed a lot of work additionally its a chronograph and its kind of a tricky movement. When I got it back today, it was perfect. Ernest Jr. made it look and run like new. I looked at many places in Tucson before I found these folks and a lot of shops wouldn't touch it because of the complexity and age of the watch. I walked in thinking this would be the most honest small business operating in town. I walked in with my grandpas Seiko watch that needed the glass repaired. After being told by Ernest that it would run me $35 he called a younger fellow from the back and asked him how much for him to replace the battery (I inquired about it as well). The guy proceeds to talk to me as if he's running a pawn shop, starts messing with the watch and proceeds to tell me they're going for 100-150 dollars online and then proceeds to offer me $9 for the watch. I told him I was only there to replace the glass and since now I know how cheap it was then there was no need to do anything to it and just leave it as was. He then changes up the estimated value to $400-$500 online and that's when I realized that he was looking to get my watch for dirt cheap as if I had come in that much of a dire situation .
