I have used Ernestos to make custom jewelry. The first was an anniversary wedding ring. I had separately purchased 3 natural diamonds all with GIA certificates. I also brought in a parcel of 4 blue sapphires to be included in the ring. Staff helped me design the ring. White gold, stone placement and orientation plans were drawn up. They allowed me to partially pay in a kilo bar of .999 silver. A couple of weeks later, I went to pick the new ring up. The wife loved it. It was truly spectacular. I have been back. Their pretty sketchy when you try and sell your jewelry to them. They're not transparent on how they price items and are reluctant to answer questions. My husband had to have his ring cut off because he got stung by a bee and the finger was swelling. It was Saturday afternoon so I figured we'd have to go to the ER but then I thought let me give ernesto's jewelry a call. Yes they would cut it off..! So away we went. The jeweler who cut off the ring was very kind. Afterwards he told us no charge! He said "well you got to get it fixed so we hope you come back to us.". Very kind, courteous people. We actually did go back to Ernesto's to get it fixed because of the excellent service the first go around. So we were able to avoid an expensive ER visit, had the ring cut off free. I have never felt more demeaned and dehumanized in my life. My husband and I got engaged while he was in medical school and with greater financial responsibilities in front of us, we agreed mutually to get engaged with a faux diamond until he graduated residency and then we planned to replace it with a real diamond. The day finally came when we paid off his school debt and after 10 years of waiting, with the 20K he saved over the past 10 years to finally spend on a real rock for me, I popped into Ernestos on a whim to get my ring cleaned on our way to brunch. I figured it'd be a great and fun opportunity to explore wedding bands we put off buying as well. I was greeted by a snooty lady asking what I wanted. I explained that I wanted my ring cleaned. She told me it would be 10 mins. Fast forward to 30 minutes later...meanwhile me browsing multi thousand dollar bands alone without one person assisting me or acknowledging me once the entire time.....meanwhile a flock of 6 Ernesto's women (who should have been helping me) are now surrounding my ring and whispering and looking at me judgmentally. At 45 minutes I finally decide to approach the flock of "mean girls" behind the counter and ask what is taking so long. The "leader" of the flock pipes up LOUDLY so the entire store can hear: "do you REALIZE THIS IS A FAKE DIAMOND?!...It is my duty to inform you of...blah blah blah.." It was absolutely awful. How dare they think it's their position to speak up?? By gosh, it's not your place to destroy a relationship. Thank goodness it was a mutual agreement between me and my, then fiancé, now husband, to get a faux diamond in order to pay back school debt. But what if it had been a poor girl who didn't know?? How dare they?! I told my husband what had happened and he was absolutely fuming and absolutely shocked at the service and behavior. All in all, we went to Tiffany's the next weekend and purchased a beautiful 4 Carat diamond (they not once said one negative comment about my faux diamond) and we will NEVER spend a penny at Ernestos or recommend any friend to go there EVER. read more

My husband has purchased several nice pieces of jewelry for me over the years from Ernesto's. At their old location there were two ladies who were always extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have been to the new location twice since they moved and have been disappointed with the service I received. On both occasions there were several young assistants in the store. Today I went in to purchase new backs for my earrings, which were purchased at Ernesto's a year or so ago. I waited 15 minutes for the assistant to find a pair in the back, and when she showed them to me they did not match. She said one was just tarnished. No offer to clean them. She bought out another pair and they too were yellow looking. I left rather disgusted at the lack of service and have since purchased some from another jewelry store. 3 years ago, I purchased a beautiful ring for my wife that had 3 stones in it for our grandchildren. At the time, I was assured that should we have more grandchildren, they could add stones as needed. I paid $1,200 for the ring. Today, I returned to have an additional stone put in the ring. I was told today if they added a stone it would not look good and was recommended to get a new setting. So we priced out this option for an additional $1,000. When I asked how much they would give me for the old ring, I was told $117. So a ring they sold me 3 years ago is only worth 10% of what I paid for it. I've taken some time to cool off after my experience at Ernesto's jewelry in New Braunfels, Texas. I'm writing this not out of anger but to warn people. See picture below my engagement ring. I had my engagement ring looked at roughly two weeks ago by Ernestos. They charged me $50 to tighten and look at my ring. I wore my ring yesterday for the first time to two stores then went straight home. I never wear my ring because I have twin boys and I stay home most of the day. I looked down yesterday and my ring was missing one of the large baguettes by my center stone. I was very upset and this morning I called Ernestos. They asked me to come in so they could look at it. The jeweler (the owners daughter) said that I did something to my ring bc there was "fuzz" on the other prongs and they would not be replacing the baguette diamond. They said the prongs had broke off and it was obviously something I did. I said that's not possible and that I literally wore it for 3 hours and didn't hit it on anything. The owners daughter began to get snappy with me while I was on the phone with my husband and I told my husband they weren't going to do anything and she was getting smart with me. She proceeded to tell me she can't do anything for my ring and that I can take it elsewhere. This is absolutely ridiculous. I go and get my ring tighten and looked at there and then the ajacent stone falls out and they don't stand by there work. I've done business with them for years and I will not be going back. I try and never write mean comments about small businesses because everyone needs to feed their families but I just can't sit back and not say anything. read more

My partner and I went to Ernestos's 3 years ago to buy our wedding rings. We live in California, so TX would have been the last place I would have thought we'd find same sex wedding rings, but man was I wrong. They have a gents section and we found our perfect wedding bands there. Nicole, our sales person, was very kind and knowledgable and showed us the Tungsten collection which is exactly what we wanted. They had a nice selection and great prices. So we bought them. Flash forward 5 months after our wedding 5, we found our rings slipping fairly easily off our fingers. We called Nicole and she graciously offered to switch us both out for smaller sizes. Who does that right? Then just last week my partner's right slipped off his finger and went down our drain....We thought we lost it. A week later our plumber found it. Curt, my partner has lost a little more weight and that smaller ring needs to be a little bit smaller. So Nicole once again said ship it out and she'll replace it. UPDATE - so much for quality work! I just sat my necklace down and the rubies are FALLING OUT!!! I don't think have not even had it for a month!! WORTHLESS!!! Now I have to worry about the diamonds falling out of it and my ring?????!!?!? WTH?!? The first time I went in there to create a special order I spent 4 1/2 hours working on it. I was told that they would call me back in a couple days with some questions I had for the jeweler. After not hearing from them for a week I stop by to find out that they had fired the person I was working with And they didn't bother to call me and so I had to spend another four hours redoing everything we did. Then, I get a phone call seven weeks later telling me that they can't find my ring size so I have to waste my time again and stop by and give them my ring size. I called today to see if my pieces ready and yes it is and of course I didn't get a phone call. I go and just now with my receipts with a highlighted balance of $140 and they try to tell me I owe $640. I showed them the receipts she pulls out a printed list of the payments and everything and she says I can't do this I need to get my accountant to do this. I asked her if she was joking and if she really could not do math and she said no I cannot. I cannot believe the amount of time I've wasted with the worst bunch of sales people in my entire life!! The piece that I designed is gorgeous but it's like pulling teeth to get anything done in there and when it is done it's done wrong!! so warning be prepared to waste a shit load of time if you go there! read more

I ordered the ceviche and it was good but not nearly as good as the fried oysters. Good God those are good! Avocado soup? I think it was, was also unique/tasty. As for our takeout entrees? I'd say they prob would have been better in the restaurant and not in styrofoam for 30+ min. Next time we will prob just find a sitter :-) If there was one complaint, I'd say the bill was a little unexpectedly pricey given the "$$" we saw (~$100 for 2). read more

Recently I did some business here at Ernesto's Jewelry Factory after being recommended to try it out and I was pretty disappointed. I had taken in a David Yurman Classic Cable Cuff Bracelet with Amethyst stones, 14k gold and sterling silver that I wanted to sell to them. On the actual David Yurman website, the bracelet is priced at $775. Now I wasn't planning on getting that exact price for the bracelet by any means, but I was at least hoping to get maybe $275-$400 for it. I had gone all around San Marcos trying to find a place to buy my bracelet for a fair price, but wasn't having any luck. Then, at the last place I visited in San Marcos, I was recommended to take my bracelet to Ernesto's because they were a pretty big company and would offer me a good price because they liked to buy "name brand" jewelry items. I was so excited because I desperately needed some fast cash to help me out with bills and my rent for this month! However, I was really disappointed with the offer I ended up getting for my bracelet in the end. After the lady (I apologize y'all, I can not for the life of me remember the girl's name who helped me out) that took care of me took my bracelet to the back where, I'm assuming they look at the jewelry to analyze it and prove its authenticity, she came back and told me that they wanted to buy my bracelet but wouldn't offer me more than $120 for it. I was so disappointed, especially because the value of the bracelet was more than $700. I tried negotiating with her on the price but had no luck. Even though the woman that handled my business was very professional and kind, I'm giving Ernesto's Jewelry Factory a two star rating because: 1. I was not informed on why I was offered such a low price for my bracelet that is worth more than $700 2. I was not happy with the price I was offered for my bracelet especially after I had been told that Ernesto's doesn't just take into account the type of metal and stones used on the piece of jewelry, but that they also take into account whether the piece of jewelry is a name brand piece or not And 3. I felt like I wasn't able to speak up and show the lady that took care of me any of the information about my David Yurman bracelet that I had done very extensive research on. Before taking it in, I had spent the whole day pretty much online looking up my bracelet and finding about 30 different sites that were selling the exact same bracelet as mine where I was able to get a collection of different prices that this particular David Yurman bracelet was going for (the lowest price I found my bracelet going for was $375 and the highest was $1,225). And when I tried showing the Ernesto's employee the research I had on the bracelet, she wouldn't even take the time to look through it. Anyways, I probably won't ever take any jewelry back here to try to sell, however they really do have a beautiful selection of jewelry to choose from, so if I ever win the lottery (I say this because the prices for their jewelry are extremely expensive) I might go back there to buy something pretty for myself. We took in my wife's ring and guard to get retipped. When they returned it the two no longer lined up and would no longer fit on my wife's finger. When we went back in they said that it was nothing they did wrong and we must need to size it up. Funny part is the guard fit without the ring and vise versa but when put together the way they were designed they didn't line up. They argued with us for about 45 min about how to fix it and how much. They even called a police officer to watch us to make sure we didn't get out of hand. Seriosly? I'm not a big guy and didn't even raise my voice and I had my 5 year old daughter with me. Finally they shaved down the 2 prongs that we asked them to originally and the ring magically fit.
