I had some silver coins and decided to call Nacogdoches Gold & Silver exchange. I spoke to the owner who quoted me a price of $21.15 for silver. So I gathered my coins and went to visit the store. First thing that is strange is that the place is somewhat dark. Secondly, there is a chute that you put your items in behind a plastic wall.. I highly recommend ONLY one item at a time goes in the chute so you can keep track of your items. Thirdly, the counting coin machine is in the back of the shop. I Recommend you know your count beforehand. It was interesting when the owner asked me if I knew the count while he was at the coin machine. Well after counting, etc, the owner was going on about weighing and why weighing is wrong. This is an irrelevant distraction. I finally was given a price of $15 per silver dollar which is far less than what I was expecting. I went to two other coin stores and got a quote closer to $21.15 per silver dollar which was fair as that was the price of silver at the time. My disappointment of this store cannot be expressed enough and there are so many better options in San Antonio. read more

Finally I decided that it had spent enough time in the bottom of a drawer, so I went online and found great reviews for Sam at Naco Gold and Silver. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He spent nearly an hour with me, explaining what he was looking for and why he could accept one piece and not another. He bought the gold, silver, and some diamonds. He does not accept pearls, though, so I will have to find another place for those. I have zero knowledge of jewelry but he was very patient and explained things very clearly. Stopped in to get a ring sized. The ring is sentimental and not very valuable. Turns out it can't be sized cause it's too cheap of metal and would ruin the ring.
