worse service ever! we were out of chips and dip by the time our food arrived and asked for more but never got it. our drinks were empty for 20 minutes and never got refilled even once. we had to ask for our waitress to even get our ticket and a to go box. when we complained to the manager he just said sorry and offered to give us a to go drink since we had been waiting so long for a refill. we refused, paid our bill, and left and won't be back. we had another bad experience with service about 3 months ago and haven't been back until tonight. we were hoping the service had improved. we were WRONG! read more

This place is horrible. If your visiting town or new to town DO NOT go here. They only are nice and interact with people they seem to know well and if they don't know you, you might as well serve yourself because you will hardly see a servers face at your table. My food was cold with A BUG in my soup and waited almost an hour just for my check because I eventually had to track the server down. This is not even half of what I have to say about this place from two visits. I went once thinking it was a bad day. And I was apparently I was wrong. Attended the Texas Tulip event, for the first time, and enjoyed the beautiful day outside. Then, decided to try one of the local eateries. Although there was a thirty minute wait, (due to a shortage of staff and cooks), it was very well worth it. We sat in our car, enjoying the sunshine, and waited for them to call our cell phone. The hostess was very sweet and patient handling the throng that followed is in. Our booth was already all prepared with full set up, as we were escorted to our seats. We could not help but notice the neat, clean, and friendly environment. The chips were fresh, light, and not at all greasy, and the salsa verde was incredible, but we are also the people that love fresh cilantro. The menu provided the typical Mexican fair, but also had some creative culinary takes. Our waiter was attentive and very helpful, and our food came in a very reasonable and timely manner. The presentation was very pleasing, and the food was prepared with perfection, right down to the slices of avocado, fresh (not iceberg) lettuce, and fresh grilled veggies. I wasn't expecting much from this little place. It was pretty crowded for a Saturday night, which I suppose is from the locals. Came here visiting some friends who grew up in the area. They used to call it "Er-nastios" back in the day but we were reassured it had gone up since. They mainly go for the margs but I deferred to a pina colada since we had to drive an hour back to Dallas area. We were served chips and salsa - salsa tasted like from a jar/can and I didn't go back for seconds. Ordered the $9.99 pick your two - two chicken enchiladas with queso blanco. The rice was pretty standard and the chicken enchiladas were pretty standard. I had never had the option to put queso on my enchiladas before so that was a nice surprise. One of my friends got the chicken fajita nachos, which I could totally make myself and not pay $7.99 for a half order, but oh well. I sat myself down at a table, to wait longer though staff members saw me walk in the door, say down at the table, and wait for five minutes before they approached me. Pricing is a bit high by my standards, but it may be due to location. Not a lot of competition in the neighborhood. Lastly, the Margarita's are well made and tasty. Went in tonight at 5:30(during HH), asked about specials, waitress that didn't speak much English said margaritas 7$. I asked about beers, she said no. We went to Ernesto's after a visit to Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch. The reviews we saw were iffy, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Our server was a little slow, but he was very friendly. We were very pleased with everything we had...from the chips and salsa, the tea, the queso, and all of our meals (my husband and 2 sons). Raised in Pilot Point. Saw this restuarant grow tremendously over the years. The GM Carlos Garcia has been there from the get go and always makes me feel at home. As I grew older.. I started attending the bar area. Jorge, who has always taken care of me since I've sat at the bar, is superb. His customer service is u like any other. I have became a regular so it's obvious that hes going to take care of me. But I have seen him take care of new customers with the same a ml count of respect that he serves me. I hear him always ask the new customers if they need anything while they're drinks are full.. and their meal is still full on their plate. I feel he treats every single customer (new/old) as if he knows them. He is always on top of his game and his customer service is BAR NONE. I highly suggest to anyone, if they go to Ernestos in Pilot Point.. and they sit in the bar/smoking section that they ask for Jorge. Dude is phenomenal. Hated it, My sister said it was good and wanted me to go. I love to try new places, but I was super dissapointed. The salsa was anything but salsa. it tasted like straight tomato paste or tomato soup with NO flavor. I ordered a guacamole side for a chip dip and got two small scoops of it with a crappy shredded lettce salad ( i hate shredded lettice, for god sake please just get a head of lettice), I got shrimp tacos with corn tortllias for an entre for $10 , it it wasnt worth even $7.The menue said grilled shrimp with cilantro, but the shrimp was not grilled but broiled, i think, with absoultely no seasoning and no cilantro on the tacos :( . the corn tortillas were stale and nasty, and the rice also was pretty tasteless. THE SILERWARE WAS DIRTY D: i dont care about the occasional water spots, but this was straight up food stuck on my fork :P. I just used my spoon instead. The service was ok, he wasnt wonderful, but he kept our glasses full and checked on us. the only thing that bugged me was he gave the check and didnt come back for a while so i was not sure if we had to check out at the counter, and it made me feel a little dumb lol. Went in around 2pm on a Friday. Waitress didnt know if it was happy hour but there was a sign on the window stating it was. Food came quick but it was horrible, the chicken was so dark I thought it was beef. It tasted weird like turkey gone bad! Waitress checked on us once then never came back. Pretty good lunch here today. Service was very fast. Chips and salsa were average. my husband has beef enchiladas and ate every bit of them which means they were good. I had chicken fajita chimichanga and it was really good. I liked how they cooked the chicken fajita meat. We would go back there again if driving through town. We stopped in for lunch before heading home from the Sharkarosa down the road. I actually didn't want Mexican, but it was there and the parking lot was full so I took that as a good sign. Even though they were busy we were seated right away, and the server was right there almost immediately. We had great service, the server was always there when we needed her, but not annoyingly hovering. I was really impressed with how much food we got for the price too. My daughter asked for a kids menu because she wasn't given one. Once we got it I saw it was for kids 8 and under, and being that she's going on 10 I was afraid it would be a pretty small portion for her. Now she only ordered nachos, but seriously, if that was the kid's plate I'd love to see the full size! She couldn't finish it in one sitting. (of course she had chips and queso too) I had enchiladas that were cheesy and onion free. We left at under $20. We can't do that at our local regular. read more
