Good food prepared right. Enjoyed our chicken tacos and crispy beef tacos. Restaurant was busy which shows it's a go-to place.

We have been to Ernesto's several times and it has been decent. We decided to try on Sunday. We walked in and waited for a host to seat us. The girl finally came to the desk, never greeted us, grabbed menus and walked to a table so we assumed we were supposed to follow her so we did. Then we sat. Finally our waiter came and we put in our order. He was fine and friendly. Then he was nowhere. An older lady brought out our food warning us about the hot plates. How my plate was hot but my food was cold was a real mystery. Did we want a take home box? No thank you. It's sad this place is going downhill. They had plenty of people working, there were only 5 or so tables filled and yet they were acting like they were too busy to deal with us. The last woman was fine, everyone else was just a body standing around. The food was barely fine but with the prices being high, we won't be coming back. read more

Friendly staff which greater us asap. Open concept with a small bar with great top shelf margaritas. Chips and WARM salsa amazing. I went with a cup of chicken tortilla soup/ beef taco lunch special, very good and plenty to eat. Will definitely go back. read more

We stopped by Ernesto's for an early Friday dinner (4pm). We are new to the area and It is close to our house. Upon arrival we were treated warmly and our drink order was taken right away. Our server was very nice and patient as we perused the menu to select our meals. Hubby went for the Shrimp & Avocado (shrimp cocktail) and I chose the chicken raquito appetizer with a side salad. As we waited for our meals to come, I asked if they had a spicier salsa to go with the chips and our server smiled and brought 2 more out. One was a roasted jalapeno salsa that was served hot - very delicious - and the other was a habanero salsa - which she said was too hot! I enjoyed both, the habanero one was the hottest. Hubby really enjoyed the roasted jalapeno one. As are meals came out, I noticed I did not get the appetizer version of the taquitos and instead it was a dinner plate with rice and beans. Hubby ended up taking those home. The shrimp & avocado had a lot of goodies in it and hubby really enjoyed it - he ate it all including drinking the last of the cocktail "sauce." My taquitos were pretty skinny, but he chicken inside was moist and tasty. All in all, service was great and the food was good. We'll probably order enchiladas or tacos next time. read more

Had not ever been to this location and wanted to try it, FIRST IMPRESSION: Open dining concept - no music and I love to go to Mexican restaurants and have the music in the background it really makes the atmosphere!! Service was not good - took forever to get drinks and chips and salsa.. HOWEVER when the chips and salsa arrived they were great! The salsa was especially good - a spicier warm salsa and a mild that was bursting with fresh flavor - neither were spicy in my opinion. Both were tasty! Waited forever for food and again I wasn't sure about it BUT surprisingly it was great!!! The Asada chimichanga was sooo good bursting with flavor! And the asada tacos were delicious and wonderful smoked flavor lots of meat and wonderful toppings on both asada taco plates that we ordered ! The rest of the people In our party did not complain at all they said the taquitos were fantastic and the combination burrito was also great!! So All that to say I wish the atmosphere was a bit better as the food was great!!! read more

So, I have heard good things about this place so I decided to stop. I have a rule, good Salsa and good Margaritas and you are good. Well, the Salsa was good as were the house Margaritas but the food was WAY salty. The refried beans were inedible and everything was just over salty. The Tequila prices by the shot were utterly ridiculous!! $40 for Clase Azul which is $140 a bottle cost?? $14 for Herradura Repo which is $35 a bottle cost? Really?? This is not your typical small towns sad excuse for sub-par Tex-Mex. Since it's one of the few places near by we decided to give it a shot. My low expectations were surpassed, immensely. We were seated immediately on a Friday night. Our waiter was great! He kept our drinks filled, checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. Salsa was really good, not really spicy but good flavor. We also tried the queso Blanco, yum! Lots of menu options. Got charged $13.05 for THREE shrimp when the menu says three ala cart baja tacos (that include shrimp and more) are $12.99. How the hell do you justify paying more for less food, let alone paying $4.35 for a single grilled shrimp? Are you kidding me? The menu doesn't even list a price for the ala cart shrimp, so the server should've been more upfront with the obviously improvised price. My family asked about the price politely, given the ridiculous bill, and the assistant manager thought it was appropriate to laugh. Well guess who's getting the last laugh now. Enjoy your one star. I walked in at 7pm on a Tuesday and the place was empty except for 2 tables with 4 customers. We ordered fajitas, tilapia, margaritas, while chips and salsa came served to the table. Chips were excellent thin and crispy not weighted in grease. Salsa was spicy hot but not a heavy aftertaste. Our entrees were generous portions and two fajita entrees filled up three of us. The huge tilapia serving was served with a large portion of broccoli. Only poor service hurt our experience. A sauce was forgotten to be delivered, no one asked if we needed anything or the quality of our food, and it took 15 minutes after the waitress brought our bill before we walked it to the register! read more

Went here for dinner last night and it was not good. When we walked in the placed smelled like dirty mop water. That should have been my first sign. Ordered the asada tacos and they arrived at my table cold. The corn tortillas were just falling apart and I didn't even finish one. The only thing I ate on that plate was the rice and avocado slices. My husband had the asada dinner and it was lack luster. Who is back there cooking?!! This is the third time we've gone and will be our last. Lunch today was great! The guacamole had a fresh taste. The chips were warm and not too salty. 2 types of salsa, one cold and tomatoes, the other warm and smoky. My chili relleno was very good. Ernesto's is your average Tex-Mex spot. It isn't anything to write home about but it is a very decent place to grab some food. They stay busy to the point of filling the parking lot because the food and drinks are good. The decor is bright and inviting and they have outdoor seating on the deck out the back. Service is is almost always good. Having eaten here dozens of times, I can only recall one or two times that the service was lacking and that was probably due to too few servers or the kitchen being slow. Overall, it is usually spot on. The food is good. Not great, but good. You will be satisfied with the large portions and the flavors are good. I have heard many people speak highly of the margaritas though I have never had one (don't drink). The salsa is rather lacking but you can ask for the roasted which makes amends for the "normal" salsa being so meh. Overall, I like Ernesto's and will continue to eat there as long as they are in town. Give them a shot if you are in the Aubrey or Pilot Point area. read more

I enjoy the shrimp enchiladas as my family has frequented this place throughout the last 10 years or so and is about the only thing I get on the menu, but I have to honestly say that I am fed up with this place and their ability to do to go orders. Their staff is unfriendly and has messed up our togo food multiple times. Last time even their was sugar in the charro beans which was disgusting. We have ordered here for birthdays and occasions throughout the pandemic and something is always wrong. The food is overpriced for what it is, so messing it up as bad as they do is unacceptable. The final straw occurred last time when they handed us our order only to call us after we had driven 20m away towards home to tell us they forgot half of the food. We had to turn around and get it, but no apology offered on their side whatsoever. No compensation either. By the time we got back the food was cold and unbelievably they still gave us the wrong meat in the chimichanga and no toppings. Not to mention they are not taking the pandemic seriously as half of the staff were not wearing masks, customers were not spaced out at all, and people were flooding the main halls towards entrance and bathrooms. Absolutely no regard for their at risk customers. We will not be going back to say the least. read more

I guess we're gluttons first punishment. We ordered curbside pick up and they got the order wrong on one meal and failed to include the tortillas for the other. Didn't notice until we got home and, at that point, couldn't be bothered to go back. We ate what we got and it was good-ish. This is my most favorite spot to eat!!! The food is authentic and fresh and super tasty! Their margaritas are seriously serious!!!! The service is superior and friendly. It's in a strip center but it's bigger than it looks. It's comfortable and has a smallish bar area but there is plenty of seating. The decor is typical and somewhat local-ish. The restrooms are always clean and the water faucets are even kinda cool. Did I mention the TACOS?!?!?! Shut your face! These tacos are LIFE! The brisket tacos are divine. The tacos de carne asada are to die for but my all time FAVE are the Canasta Tacos!!!!! They are deep fried corn tortillas filled with tasty taco meat and cheese before fried. They are very similar to the "tacas" my Babu (great gran) used to make!!! There are 5-6 on the plate and it doesn't come with rice or beans but WHO CARES when the tacos are this perfect!!!!! The chips and salsa are great and the table side guacamole is exactly what you want every time! My wife orders the shrimp fajitas every time. My Gringo children love the chicken fried steak!
