This food truck cooks tacos to order. We were completely ignored until Ernie finished cooking the meal of the person ahead of us in line. This isn't a good look especially for first time customers. He could have at least said he'd be with us in a few minutes. I had the migas, bacon & egg, and the al pastor tacos. My tacos were hot and fresh. The Al pastor tacos were by far my favorite. The tacos were incredibly delicious. My main complaint would be the lack of red sauce, napkins, tomatoes, avocado, and beans. The food truck also didn't even have a menu so there's no price transparency. The tacos were delicious and we paid $22 for 9 tacos so there's food was reasonably priced. This was my 1st attempt to find the hidden trailer. 2 Tried to find the trailer again; I finally found it on my 2nd attempt. It's hidden behind Mojo's Coffee... Mojo's customer's vehicle drive thru made it impossible to drive to, totally get to the hidden trailer. 3 There was absolutely no parking available near the trailer, nor is it easy to find any parking due to Mojo's. 4 When I arrived, I already knew what I wanted, I was ready to order; I read Ernie's Menu on google Maps prior to getting there... I asked about their meats... he immediately said he could not serve me because none of his meats were ready, not prepared yet; it would be a while before they would be available ??? 5 I then noticed that there was absolutely no information available, anywhere: -When is breakfast? This place was such and awesome surprise. The owner was very friendly and masked and the kitchen looked very clean. I was surprised that the food was cooked on the spot which was an awesome surprise. I had the green salsa and it was so tasty I scraped the cup. I had the pastor plate and it was by far the BEST I have ever had. I was really disappointed given the other great reviews. I ordered a migas taco and an al pastor taco. The migas was inedible. It was literally a handful of stale tortilla chips with less than half an egg. No onion, peppers, tomatoes, or anything. Just loose, barely crumbled, stale chips. Awful. I was hoping the al pastor would be redeeming, but it was 90% gristle and fat, and contained probably 4oz of grease, which spilled out everywhere even after soaking the bag the tacos came in. Absolutely terrible. I couldn't eat any of it. The owner was annoyed when I approached the window and impatient, hence my extremely rare one star review. Overjoyed to have INSANELY GOOD tacos in Burnet! Ernie's truck moved from Austin to Burnet about four months ago... Burnet is very lucky to have him. We got four tacos: bean+cheese+avocado, beef fajita, chicken fajita, and migas+bacon. All on flour tortillas. Everything was BOMB. The tortillas were delicious. His red and green salsas were both delicious with the perfect amount of heat. Beef and chicken were perfectly seasoned. Can't wait to come back and try more items off his menu. read more

Located just east of H-E-B on hey 29 in Burnet a little food trailer court with several options. Today I was craving chorizo and egg tacos a guilty pleasure. Ernie had already sold out of chorizo today but offered me fajita beef as a sub. I like problem solvers! Great service and real quick had taco's in my hand. I absolutely love that I live in a town where an unassuming taco truck in a gas station parking lot can be so good, that I think about it all day... We had a few tacos all were incredible, the eggs weren't over done, bacon was nice & thick & my husband loved the migas. I think its safe to say we have a new regular spot. read more

I was having my windshield repaired at JRD, and across the parking lot sits Ernie's Tex Mex. I figured what-the-heck. I ordered a pastor gordita... gorditas are difficult to get just right, they're often mealy or mushy. Not here! Best freakin' gordita I've ever have! On the big side, so I didn't mind the $4.75 price. Outside was perfectly crispy, inside perfectly cooked. The pastor was nice big chunks, not mystery meat. Right amount of beans, cheese, and toppings. Green sauce was perfect: it's supposed to be hot-hot-hot, and it delivered. Ernie's is my new fave taco truck. Outstanding! chris read more

I always drive bye his spot on the way to work but I'm usually too early so he's never open. Today I decided to take a detour and thank the food God's I did. This is a magical little nugget. Fire ass tacos. 4 bites of glory. Perfectly cooked eggs, bacon was crispy,cheese was melting everywhere. Awesome wrap job in foil. And to out it over the top was the fuego green sauce. Think we've all had Verde AMD fakers saying they've got the best green. Well damn, they don't have shit on my man Ernie! Lips are buzzing and it was delicious. It's Nott spicy to the touch though just a great after taste. Very well done Ernie. It's no coincidence that a dude drove up on a bike while I was waiting and grabbed two brown bags that looked like they were full of small grenades and peeled out saying,"Thanks Ernie." This place is right across the street from torcheys on congress. The tacos are made with fresh flour tortillas and are so much better than torcheys. About half the price of torcheys too. Ernie is really cool. Highly recomend this place. read more

I've been here multiple times for breakfast, which is always great. The migas tacos are my favorite, the migas plate and the Huevos a la Mexicana are also tasty. Today I stopped by for lunch and got the fajita plate. It is just as good as the breakfast with a good serving amount. read more
