I would never of thought I needed to check reviews of a dry cleaner. You drop off, they do the simple cleaning and you pick up. Obviously I was wrong with that assumption. My girlfriend and I are new to Rochester and did not know where to go for our dry cleaner. With the convenience of being directly across from Wegmand we decided to give this business a try. We've quickly come to the conclusion that THIS is not the place go. 1. When dropping off my clothes I was overcharged and there was no way of changing without manager permissions... no manager present 2. On my designated pick up day I was told my clothes were not ready because people have stopped working as a result of not being payed. This of course caused a backlog of cleaning and clothes were not available. 3. Attempted to call a manager on Monday and was told I'd be called back. As you may have guessed... no call back! Alarmingly poor care for their employees which has directly led to zero care for customer service. Dry cleaning is a simple errand that should be done with a professional and dependable business. I went here once when I first moves to Rochester and gave me back my cashmere sweater with holes in it. After I called back to complain they offered to repair it. So, I dropped it off and they turned my beautiful $150+ sweater that I wore once into a cross stitch sweater. Then, after I called to speak with ownership and told them what had happened, wanted me to go out of my way to prove it to them. Worst & last experience with this business. Who would have thought I had to check reviews on a dry cleaning place. This place is absolutely HORRENDOUS! I chose to bring my clothes and wedding dress here because it was close to my office and had early hours. I called the day before I dropped everything off and asked if they dry cleaned wedding dresses. The girl who answered the phone said "Um I don't know let me ask." She comes back and says they do. I asked how much, she again didn't know the answer and said she could take my number down and call me back. Odd, you work for a dry cleaner and don't have those answers... Early the next day I go before work to drop everything off... closed. But there website says they are open at 8 am. The sign on the door said to call the main plant if no one is there, so I did. A woman answered and said they changed hours, they open at 11 at it says that on the door. In very small print is states EXTENDED hours, yet they are not extended, they are open less hours. Should have known then! I went back at 11, dropped my wedding dress, 3 other dresses, pants and shirts. $200 worth of dry cleaning, not including the $150 cost to dry clean my wedding dress. 1 dress I needed that week, which they said they could do for an extra $1. I was told it would be ready that Friday. I needed it for Halloween on Saturday. I didn't make it Friday so I looked at there hours again on there website and it said they were open until 5 pm Saturday. Something told me to call and make sure that was accurate. Low and behold it was not! I called at 230pm and they said they close at 3. I literally ran out of the store I was in and rushed to get there before close. I got there at 2:58 pm and a woman was frantic looking for someone else's items. She asked me what I needed to pick up. I said it's a blue dress, handed her the slip stating it would be ready Friday. She goes and looks around and in my head I am thinking she is going to tell me she can't find it. She comes back to the front and says "I'm sorry I can't find it anywhere" I said I am NOT leaving until I have that dress. It is for a Halloween party I am taking my daughter to in 2 hrs. She calls someone on the phone and her and who ever is on the phone is going back on forth on where my dress could be. Another woman waiting there was also waiting for her lost items. 10 mins later she said they found it but it won't be back until 5 ok. At this point it's a little after 3. I agreed to come back and was thankful they at least found it. 5 pm rolls around and a man comes whipping in the parking lot with my dress. He hands me the dress NOT PRESSED like I asked. Fast forward to today when I went to go pick up the rest of my Items after they called me relentlessly to tell me my wedding dress was ready. I get home and go through everything and now a string belt from a $100 shirt is MISSING!!! Im honestly afraid to even open the bag my wedding dress is in. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more

For the second time this month and after spending thousands of dollars a year at this location, I find myself unable to pick up my dry cleaning during posted business hours. Not only that, they claim they now only accept cash. If I'm ever able to retrieve my clothes, it will be the last time we give this organization any business. UPDATE: here I am first thing in the morning and this location is still not open. This organization has changed hands multiple times in the last year and service levels continue to plummet. I am surprised to see so many negative reviews here. I guess people don't think about reviewing a dry cleaner unless they have a bad experience. I have used this Erwin's dry cleaning location for many years for everything from dry cleaning to laundry and tailoring. It is a convenient location, and I have never had an issue. Their prices can be a bit high, but they accept coupons from their competitors. read more

I have to agree with Yelper Daniel S. - avoid Erwins. I was not pleased with the lack of customer service from the staff (not even a smile) or the carelessness for the clothes I dropped off. I needed several blazers and my fall peacoat dry cleaned. First of all, it seemed expensive, but I deemed it worthy knowing my clothes would come back cleaned and pressed. (Or so I thought...) Secondly, I had to wait a week. Whatever happened to speedy service? Thirdly and most importantly, my clothes were not cleaned properly and were wrinkled. They didn't even unroll the sleeves on one of my blazers. Clearly, no care taken for the items I dropped off. It wasn't worth the argument to get my money back. I should have read the reviews before patronized this business. Since I am new to Rochester I figured I would try a local Dry Cleaner. I reviewed there webpage and it stated they offered "same day service" if dropped off by 09:00 AM. I needed one of the shirts back ASAP so I figured this service would be awesome. I dropped my shirts off before 09:00AM and asked them to be DRY CLEANED and pressed with HEAVY STARCH. The attendant said I would get my shirts back by Thursday. I asked about the SAME DAY SERVICE and she informed me that the price would cost a lot more than usual because of speed of service. I agreed and I was out the door. The next day I picked up my "DRY CLEANING" and when I got home I look at the shirts. Boy was I surprised. First, the shirts were barely pressed and I noticed some funny little spotting on the 3 White shirts I dropped off, including one shirt which was New and Never worn that now had little tan marks all down the front. I called the DRY CLEANERS back and spoke with the attendant and explained what I saw, lack of ironing and the spotting, and they explained that it happens some times with LAUNDERING the shirts.. LAUNDERING !??!! I politely asked why they were laundered when I asked them to be DRY CLEANED. They explained that they don't DRY CLEAN shirts or pants but they launder them, and that they only DRY CLEAN Suits and Jackets, etc... I tried to explain that I was unhappy with their service, only to be hung up on by the evening attendant. I was a bit taken back. About 30 minutes later the manager returned my call with a Blocked Caller ID and we had a polite discussion about my concerns. He was apologetic and offered to clean it again but only if I bought it in right away. I declined and thanked him anyways for the offer. Before politely ending the phone call I mentioned that they might want to explain to future customers the difference between how they handle dry cleaning vs. laundering clothing. read more

The Erwin's in Perinton has been a Godsend for me. I am sensitive to chemicals and smells and they have a very affordable Ecoclean with no odor. Their prices are better than a few other Green cleaners and they do a gorgeous job. Super caring people who try to please customers. read more

I have been going to erwins in pittsford for the last 2 years. The tailor there is amazing. But I will no longer go to this place. The hours change all the time and when you call the number, the hours don't match what's posted on the door. So by the time you waste your time driving, the hours are changed again. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I looked all over Yelp and Google reviews and such for a good dry cleaner, and there is very little in terms of positive or negative reviews out there about the Rochester area (which is why I decided to write this one). This place seemed to have okay reviews for some of their other locations (none for this location), so I thought I'd give them a try. BIG MISTAKE. I don't think I'm overly demanding when it comes to dry cleaners but I expect the following: 1.) The clothes I drop off are the clothes I pick up 2.) The clothes I drop off are cleaned and unwrinkled They failed on both counts. What I got back clean was wrinkled, and they lost my pants that I needed for a wedding (and didn't notice they were missing until it was too late). Therefore, I will not be returning, and I recommend you try somewhere else as well. Keep reading if you want the full story. I was attending a friend's wedding (black tie affair) and wanted my suit, slacks, and shirts to be in tip-top shape for the weekend. I give them one star because they failed in every respect as for doing what they are supposed to do as a dry cleaning business. Let me explain: I dropped off my suit (matching jacket & pants), beige slacks, and two dress shirts. When I picked everything up (without checking at first, unfortunately, because I assumed it would all be there), I didn't realize that they had LOST MY SUIT PANTS! So the night before my flight to the wedding I was packing and found that I did not have the pants to match my suit jacket. Not only that, but the dress shirts and slacks had a couple places with pressed in wrinkles! Sure, there are some tough spots on shirts right at the arm cuffs where wrinkles can appear, but these were both square in the middle of the shirt, and the same with my beige slacks. Since they were closed and I was leaving at 6am the next morning, there was nothing I could do. So I went to the wedding with a non-matching suit. I had to iron the shirts and pants myself (which was pretty simple, yes, but the point is that's their job, and if it is simple enough that I could do it, why couldn't they?). When I returned from the trip, I stopped in with my receipts and my suit jacket (which didn't even seem to have my matching suit pants listed on them, as if they were never received) and asked the same guy that I dropped everything off too if he might know where my pants were (explaining the whole story of what happened). The first thing he asked when he saw my receipt was if I was sure I had dropped them off, and if I had looked at home because he said he didn't remember me giving them to him (as if I hadn't thought to look for them). He looked around, couldn't find them after just 3mins or so, and said he would take my phone number and call me if they turned up. He did apologize, but it wasn't much, and all else he said was "this never happens." I drove home, and just as I was pulling up to my driveway I got a phone call saying he thought he found my pants. I drove all the way back, and sure enough, there they were. He gave them to me, said sorry again, and that was it. They hadn't even been cleaned!!! Somehow they got put on some overflow hanger area and were forgotten. They didn't offer any refund or discount on a future visit. It was just, "here's your pants" (still dirty). In a way I'm glad they didn't clean them because they probably would have put in a wrinkle or two that I'd just have to iron out. But this was quite frustrating, and the customer service could not have been worse. read more

This is my fourth visit in 4 weeks where I can't retrieve my clothes or drop off new clothes b/c "the computer is down", or the store closes earlier than its stated hours. The location on East Avenue has absolutely ruined my dress. First off, I dropped off an evening-wear dress to be cleaned. It got lost and nobody could find it for 4 days. It miraculously showed up and I was contacted it was ready. THEN when I picked it up yesterday evening, to my unbelievable surprise, ALL OF THE SEQUENS HAD BEEN REMOVED from the bodice of the dress. It was sent out to be cleaned and all the sequins were stripped off because of the machine they use. I was not warned of this beforehand when I dropped my dress off, I was not informed in anyway, shape, or form that this could happen, nor was it confirmed with me that they would be doing this to my dress. $60 dress ruined!! Now the managers will not call me back. This place is terrible and does not care about customer service. read more

I am hard pressed to give these guys one star as I think that there not even that good! I have had problems finding a reliable dry cleaner and have used these guys on and off and the results were patchy at best! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRY CLEANERS!!! I shall explain why; I dropped of five shirts and a pair of dress pants with food stains on which I explained in detail to have them removed because in the passed I have had problem with them paying attention to directions. On picking up my dry cleaning the pants still had stains on which they offered to clean again and wait another four or five days before it would be ready, I declined the offer but they charged me anyhow for pants they did not clean. At this point I decided enough was enough and left with my not so clean dry cleaning and did not drop off my laundry I walked in with to get cleaned. So I went up the road to Monroe and now I only go to TOWN AND COUNTRY ( very professional and happy;-)! Ok so at this point I can't cut a long story short, I get clothes home and think nothing of the fact that they used starch on my clothes when I asked for no starch and charged me for pants that were not clean, I grab a shirt and put it on later in a meeting to notice there's a rip in the front panel by the hem!! I look inside the shirt with a rip to find a bad fix job! I was furious and later took the garment back to the dry cleaners for them to tell me that they would have never fixed it without prior permission!Nobody else had ever dry cleaned that shirt as I usually hand wash it myself, that particular shirt was about $350+ and custom made. They basically told me to go screw, their web site was "under construction" their manager wasn't available till after 3pm so I simply gave up and came on yelp to let everybody and their bother know to stay away from these HACKS OF THE DRY CLEANING INDUSTRY. Skip this place. Terrible customer service. I had limited cash with me and wanted to use my debit card. The counter person refused to take the card becausethe charge was under ten dollars. I am a regular customer and asked him to accomodate my request. He refused and told me to come back with cash and started yelling at me. Even after I left the store I could see him yelling in the window and making hand gestures at me.No need to use Erwins there are plenty of other options. 02/25/2016- The owner called me today and apologized for his employee. He informed me that he let the employee go and that I can use my debit card for any amount. I will give them another try because of their prompt response. read more

The prices and time of job completion are comparable to places in the area. However, when I picked the pieces up they attached a note to each piece with a stain saying they spent some time, but due to the delicate material any more care could cause damage. The note made sense for some of the pieces, but not all of them. They couldn't get out a small light grey stain out of cotton sweater.
