they had to replace the freaking toilet after I moved it. the neighbors across from us spied on people and complained about us for lies they made up. They spied with their car's dashcam. the people in the office and maintenance were evil and didn't fix things well ever. ups delivers packages to wrong apartment %'s all the time . They will make u want to wish u never signed a lease. just like Landera down the street. Scuzbuckets. Shelby Higgins is an awful manager. Very rude and rushed us like crazy. I called a week prior to set up a tour of a A2 floor plan and when we get there she tells us there is no available A2 floor plans to tour, only a model B2 apartment. We asked when an A2 would be available to tour, she said next week but since that would be our "second tour" we wouldn't be able to have the rent special unless we signed THAT DAY after touring nothing. Obviously we did not sign anything with seeing virtually none of the property and she said she'd call next week and then never did. If you're the owner, Shelby doesn't want anyone living there. If you're a person trying to find a place in Castle Hills, try the Charleston apartments. Same prices, better property and staff. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Let me start off with DONT DO IT.!!!!! They're greedy. rude. Unprofessional. Dirty. Don't care for tenants or even their employees (poor maintenance man was all on his own for 10 months out of the 13) All they care about is your money. We put in PLENTY of requests and only had them come once. We spoke to them in person MANY MANY TIMES about the issues only for in the end for them to say there is no "evidence" of us ever asking for maintenance . When they said they would put them in for us since we went INTO the office to speak with them. Most tenants have dogs or cats and you will find dog poop in every part that has grass or there will be a trail of cat litter right outside your building for days. Following with the infestation of roaches only for them to say it was our fault when we have evidence of them coming out of the walls in our laundry room which was the main trouble of our pest. We never brought roaches into the apartments as we didn't have them before we moved here. (They accused us of being the main problem? THEY CAME OUT OF THE WALLS because there is a hole in the ceiling of our laundry room) Leaving us to throw away half the things we own including EXPENSIVE FURNITURE. (Spoke to others in our same building having the same issue and nothing being done about it) So if you want roaches/wasps/fleas...I mean you name it. You'll more than likely find them in your Escalante apartment! The mail room isn't safe despite it being locked up it's always broken so you can't even get to your mail or someone broke INTO it and well it's not the apartments fault apparently. So all in all I could keep going on and on just don't do it. Save yourself the stress and trouble and go somewhere respectful. I will update once I've called the city and the state to report these awful conditions. read more

Love the square footage of our apartment home, it's affordable, the neighbors are nice. Maintenance is awesome! The things that need improvement is the outside of the apartment buildings (painting, dog poop and trash), parking is an issue, my remote still doesn't work, you only get one remote when you have more than two lease holders, office staff never calls back and don't answer calls. Victoria needs improvement on how she talks to residents. Over all, the area is great and inside the apartments are nice. read more

I moved in last summer and have enjoyed my time here. The rent price per square footage is fair and I am happy with the layout, 2B/1BA. The buildings, landscape and units could definitely use some sprucing up, but I think that might be in the works, so I will hold off commenting for now. The maintenance crew is incredible! From the time that I put in a ticket to the time the issues is resolved, its less than 6 hours. Usually closer to just 60-90 minutes. I really appreciate their promptness! I have to agree with the previous comments regarding the dog poop issues and the trash. The giant dumpsters are a huge eye sore and are overflowing too often. We could at least have them behind a gate or fence. I do get a little embarrassed when my friends or family come by for a visit and make comments. :/ It would be really nice to have a trash service! My bills are always spot on, the maintenance team is fantastic, the rates are fair and the community amenities are nice. Overall, living here has been pleasant. The property is quiet and safe. read more

The rent is too high and the property cleanliness has been questionable for the past couple yesrs. When was the last time the outside and stairs in bldgs were powered washed? Not everyone is cleaning up after their pets. No upgrades done in the units with occupants. On a positive note the staff is very friendly and always helpful. read more

Moved here about 7 months ago after looking at many other places, Kristen is the personality that sold us. Very sweet and good energy. I love the garden bathtub. My only complaints would be that the recycling always seems full or doesn't come twice a week. It is an older apt so it could have a few more updates, but whenever I've had any issues maintenance came right away and alway very nice and helpful. Wish there was more parking. Might sign a new lease for a 1 bedroom depending on move in specials and if it's adequately priced for the age and care of the apt. Hopefully the pool won't be closed most of the Summer, like last, but that was due to Covid-all I wanted to do was lay by the pool so I was upset I wasn't able to just do that on the cement, w my towels. read more

I have been living here for 11 years, since 2006, and it is time for me to finally move on and move out. I will be putting in my 60day notice today. I am upgrading and moving closer to work. Escalante is a good choice for anyone looking for an apartment. I am in unit 2518, which is a first floor, A2 776 square feet. It is an awesome spot! On the corner, first floor and quiet as heck. I have been here so long because it is a great place to live. If you are looking for a good value, safe surroundings, convenient location & minutes away from 281 & 1604 then this is the place for you. Parking-the great thing about Escalante is that they provide you with one FREE covered parking spot. Can you believe it! Safety- You will have no problem walking around the complex at night, male or female. Rent- I feel the rent is lower than other places. Yes rent does go up after a year or two and will continue to go up over time. I pay around $ 900. Apartment Size- I have the A2. The bedroom is very spacious and fits my King size bed easily and you will still have more than enough room to fit a dresser and bed end tables on each side. Actual room size 13'10"x 11'8". Walk in closet is a good size, 5'x5'2". Living room is a good size as well. The Kitchen is fine and comes with a pantry. Appliances are basic as well as the stove, so nothing fancy. Location- Great location. 3 miles from HEB & Target. 1.5 miles from Hardberger park and Walmart. 5miles from the Embassy 14 theatre. Great theatre. Maintenance- I have not had too many requests. The most recent one, last month, was resolved the same day I called. A line connected to my water heater started leaking (dripping) and pooling. Was taken care of rapidly. Age of property- Escalante isn't the newest property, that is why the appliances are just basic, but the place does not look old. They are not painted that ugly brown color either. Don't concern yourself on the age of the property. Noise- Overall I say the place is very quiet. Every now and then someone drives though with a loud motorcycle...not that often though and most cars there are normal sounding cars. The noise level within the apartment (mine) is mouse like. I hardly hear my neighbors. What helps is that the floor above me is carpet...there's a tip for you. So as far as noise, no loud music, no domestic issues. Nice and quiet place. The Pool- it is not the fanciest pool, nor its selling point. Its okay. Probably should be cleaned more often since there are many trees and bushes near it. They do have a bar-b-que grill area which is good for a group outing. I also don't hear any animals in my area, building 25. Age of people/demographics- I would say it is a family/working community. There are not college kids jumping around everywhere and being all college-like. Everyone I see seems normal in their own way and nice. Animals- yes there are some, people try to pick up their poop...what is the success rate. I don't know. But they do have doggie stations (poop stations) for you to get a bag. Amenities such as food trucks, yeah no. They don't have those, lol. Escalante lags in that part. No cool stuff like that goes on. Every now and then they try to do some community stuff, like hand out food at the gate or some other activity. But really, it is not Esclante's thing, so don't expect to be wooed. Office Personnel- The assistant property manager Brandi is a doll and a breath of fresh air and energy. I always enjoy going to the office and having a chat with her. She is very pleasant and personable. Nine times out of ten, if I go to the office I will make sure I deal with her. She is an asset seems to be one of the most stable things about the Escalante office. I cannot give as high as praise to the others because I prefer to deal with the best. However, I can say that the others try to be helpful. So there you have it, a detailed review. I hope this helps your decision to rent at Esclante. You will be happy with your decision. read more

I've lived here since about 2009. I think I'm on my 3rd lease now. I love this apartment and compared to others they are very helpful and I don't have any complaints. The office staff changes pretty often but that's normal with apartments. The only complaint I can think of is one time my A/C decided to turn the heat on by itself. I was no where near the thermostat. This happened right in the heat of the summer when we had 105 temps. The only way it would turn off was to switch the breaker off. Of course this happened after hours so I had to call the answering service twice to finally get a hold of maintenance. When I did he told me he couldn't come work on it because it was dark cause he might get electrocuted. Seriously.....you don't own a flashlight?! I would understand if it was say 70 and the A/c wasn't working but it was putting off heat and it had been in the 100s for weeks. Other than that I love my apartment. The location is great. It's a quiet residential area close to 1604, 281 and IH 10. The only reason I am leaving is because I'm getting a job in Austin. Wish I could take my apartment with me and plop it in south Austin. read more

I moved in at the tail end of August, and as of this review it's April. In that time, I've been very happy here at Escalante. First of all, the parking situation is pretty good. There's the covered space that comes automatically with the apartment, but there's also plenty of spaces within reasonable walking distance if necessary. Second of all, the apartments are dead silent. It is very rare that I hear the neighbors, whereas at my old apartment it was practically a daily event. The apartment itself seems well built and is quite spacious. I love the layout, which includes a miniature desk and built in bookcase that I have taken pleasure in utilizing. The balcony is very spacious and I enjoy my view. The kitchen has plenty of counterspace, although the lack of a dedicated pantry took some getting used to. The appliances aren't the fanciest, but they work well and I have not had an issue with anything breaking in the time I've lived here. I love the pool, grill area, and fitness center. All areas are well maintained, attractive and spacious. The neighborhood is also very quiet, with lush greenery. It's also a fairly central location, with easy access to 1604, 281, and 410. Traffic gets bad on 1604 starting at around 4:30, but it seems to me that traffic is getting worse all around town lately. Lastly, the office staff has always been very friendly every time I've gone over there. Overall, I absolutely love this apartment complex and I plan to try to live here for as long as possible. read more

So far, so good. For the price, and for the area, the size of my place is fantastic. I just moved in a little before the start of the month and I'm still getting used to how quiet the complex is. It's such a welcome change from where I was living previously. I worked with Sharon G. during my move in and she was fantastic. She took the time to walk me through the ins and outs of the place and the apartment. When I expressed an interest in renting a washer and dryer set while I wait to get a new pair- she made the request as I watched and they were installed the next day. Parking was so hard to find at my last complex, I started having to factor it into my plans. Who wants to shape their life around parking availability? Not a problem at Escalante. Not only do I have a covered parking spot which was included with the lease (it's close-ish to my apartment, not right up front, but still nice to have) but there's always plenty of parking near my building, regardless of the time I get in. I thought I was going to have to request power washing for the walkway in front of my door because there was some serious staining and general nastiness when I moved in- didn't have the chance to request it. Got home yesterday from work and the stains were gone. Love the pro-active maintenance! The only 'negatives' I can think of are that the master bathroom has less storage than the guest bathroom, which is a little odd but not a big deal - and the fixtures are a little dated. Again, not a big deal, since they're in good condition, but meh- I'll probably be replacing them. I'll be back in six months or so if anything changes. :) read more

We rented the apart During Covid unseen. They were really great at communicating with us. My husband was in the hospital with Covid so I was trying to do this alone and they were really patient with me. The size of the apartment complex is great. Had a few items come up at the beginning but they were quickly resolved. Maintenance is awesome !!! I wish they would get onto the dog owners better with the dog messes. They ran out of gate fobs and we have heard nothing back about if they are getting any more in or not. I get shocked every time I have to put in the gate code. Over all I really like the area. I lived at Escalante for exactly 3 years. During this time it was a very pleasant stay. Pro: - location, location, location! It is extremely close to 1604, heb plus, stone oak area, the rim, and la cantera mall - maintenance is usually fast - the front desk is helpful and friendly - one cover parking spot per apt but there is a lot of uncovered first come first serve spaces - overall nice neighbors - a new dog park - they had recycle bins - apt complex is up on a hill so no worries about flooding - decent pool and nice BBQ area - most importantly when I moved out they didn't charge me for anything unreasonable and got most of my deposit back Cons: - a few noisy cars that boomed their music super loud! - college kids = loud neighbors - most of the grass is dead which is bad for dogs - like most apt complexes I heard my neighbor walking around upstairs - dog poop everywhere!!! There are doggy stations around but sometimes run out of bags and is not refilled soon enough - lastly my car got broken into! It was probably some stupid kids since they stole the most ridiculous item in the car but still an evasion of privacy! Overall it was a really nice place to stay and I will definitely miss it! Been with Escalante for almost 20years, there are some flaws but that's probably common with every complex. Also, for just being me and my mom, our water bill surely goes high one month and then low the next month. Maintenance says that there is no leak but personally I think a real plumber should come out and verify. I do wish they would regularly power wash the breezeways because once in awhile doesn't cut it. I also wish there was a courtesy patrol on site as during the weekends people do not know how to be quiet especially after 10pm, when the swimming pool is suppose to be closed. I personally think that something needs to be done with people not picking up after their doggies, there use to be a policy regarding this, that somehow went away when the new staff in the leasing office took office. read more

We have lived here for four years and only left due to a job relocation. Comfortable home in a great neighborhood and is conveniently situated atop a hill away from the main street. Never had problems with noisy neighbors - though there are always the raucous youths that enjoy themselves just a little too much a little too late into the night - but that's to be expected in just about any apartment complex. I've lived here for just about a year and have been very thankful for my experience so far. I moved from out of state and Brandie was so great about communicating with me and making the move as stress free as possible. The leasing agents are very nice people and do their best to help you with anything that you need. The apartment complex itself is very nice. My biggest complaint is that we have a few (not many) residents who don't clean up after their dogs, however, that isn't anyone but the residents fault. The apartment prices are so fair based on what you get. We are in a very convenient, quiet location right in North SA. Living in a decent sized complex, maintenance issues WILL arise. That's any apartment complex. But, maintenance is always on top of their game and I never have had to wait more than a day for whatever I need. Very thankful that I found Escalante and even more thankful for Brandie. read more

My daughter and I have lived here about 6 months and it is a great location! Grounds is well kept and they are quick to respomd to any and all service request! The pool and the BBQ area are really pretty and relaxing! We moved in from out of town and had to take care of everything via phone Andy was such a great help and made it all so easy! We drove intown on a Friday night arrived late due to car trouble and he even gave us his personal phone number so we could call him when we where close and he met us at the office signed the lease and gave us our keys to the apartment! read more

Place is very clean, well kept up, not noisy, nice office staff, good appliances, ive had to call maintenance once since i moved in and they take care of it within a few days and keep you updated on the process. The neighbor downstairs has moved about about 4 weeks now. They left bunch of trash and diaper boxes outside their door and the management has not done anything about it!!!!!! Very poor management! We won't be renewing our contract for sure! read more

We have lived here for only about a month so far. We had a few maintenance requests of things that needed attention and the maintenance staff is pretty quick to get to the problem. The front desk staff is awesome. They are personable with good personalities and they seem like they do care. We have a noisy neighbor upstairs and can hear them walking (I think they have heavy feet). But you have that at any apartment. We can only hear people talking or noise when they walk through the breeze ways, so that's not terribly bad. But I haven't heard loud music or parties going on. Parking is sometimes hard. Good thing is that you get a reserved covered parking with your lease. Bad thing is when you have two people on the lease that both own vehicles, only one of you gets to call dibs. I have only one huge complaint. If this would be dealt with I would of gave this place 4 stars. There has been an ongoing problem with dog poop. I have complained many times. I have been told that it will be dealt with. It hasn't really been dealt with... it seems like people around here don't think they need to pick up their dog crap. It's everywhere all over the grass. We have taken our dog for walks around the complex and it seems it's not just a problem where our apartment is. It's EVERYWHERE! Where our apartment is located, we can't leave the windows open because the sun bakes the poop and it flows right into my house. So nasty. So if you walk around here, double check where you step. One tenant went as far as picking up rocks to set around the dog poop so no one would step in it near the sidewalk. REALLY?? SERIOUSLY?? Go get a bag. How lazy. They do have dog stations located through out the complex. There is a lot of poop right next to the stations which irritates me how lazy and disgusting people are. Besides the poop, It's not a bad place and a pretty good location close to highways. read more

I am incredibly happy that I lived at Escalante as the first apartment I ever rented. The neighbors keep to themselves for the most part, and when you do see them, they are incredibly friendly. In the two years, that I lived here, I never ran into problems with parking, or loud music. Maintainence is on the ball whenever there is a need and are courteous and professional. Chris and Deb are great to know and you can tell that they enjoy working for the property. In the two years I've seen rotations in the leasing office (Jen and Sharon) were amazing and I really wish I knew where they went. Brandie, I am incredibly grateful that she's been there both when I first moved in and now that I am leaving. She has this connection with the residents that build not only a professional relationship, but one that creates trust, a friendship, and truly a relationship that keeps you at ease and stress free.
