Went with my sister, mom and her friend. We all had so much fun, talked about it the whole ride home and for days after. Staff was super friendly. Setups are perfect! They let us peak into the other rooms to see what they looked like and they all look great!! We did the jail break one, they have you dress up in the orange jumpsuit and handcuffs its awesome! It was very challenging even though we beat it!! I don't want to give too much detail but it was definitely worth it, I would 100% do it again if I didn't already know what to do now haha but we do plan on going back and trying their other ones! We did "An Evening in Paris" as a couple and had a great time. The game was challenging but the problems were not unsolvable, and we received helpful hints from the monitor a minute or so after we asked for help. My only gripe is the website stated, "An Evening in Paris...Treat your special Sweetheart to a romantic "Evening in Paris". Enjoy a glass of champagne and nibble on chocolate while you relax in our party room with your special Sweetheart." (http://www.escapecountdown.com/6525-s-tamiami-trail-sarasota-fl-34231/) ----- this page is #2 in the Google search for "Sarasota Escape Room". When I inquired about this, the young woman said, "Oh, does it still say that? That was only for Valentine's Day. We keep telling our web guy to take it down but he doesn't." Looking at the site again, it appears that description is on a page that is no longer included on the main site, but is still an active page showing up in searches. So, just delete the page? Regardless, we came in with expectations that were not met. Overall, it was fun but as this and other reviews indicate, there are some management/customer service issues that need to be ironed out to provide a flawless experience. read more

This escape was a blast! Ended up doing the Mad Hatter tea party escape with family members, and everyone loved it! The puzzles were challenging enough and appropriate for all ages. The theme was whimsy and the small details did not go unnoticed. There was a simple process of checking in, and we started on time. We also loved the costumes! My husband and I took our 12- and 14-year old daughters to the Mad Hatter room. We arrived late because we went to the wrong place by mistake (the other escape room across the street). Thankfully, the lovely woman at the desk offered to let us go the following hour instead at no extra charge. She, along with everyone else we met at Escape Countdown, was very friendly and welcoming. The facility was very nice: clean, well-organized, not rundown like some places we've been. The Mad Hatter room itself was very well-decorated, which added to the fun. I would say it was probably an advanced beginner's room: the clues were challenging but not impossible, and I think even younger kids would be able to enjoy it and help out. Our kids were definitely not bored, and we've done quite a few escape rooms. They're already planning to go back to do one of the harder rooms! I've been to many breakout/escape rooms and this one was okay. Their staff didn't seem super thrilled that we were there. It was pouring one of the days we were on vacation so we figured this would be a fun group activity and it was, they always are. Not my favorite one that I've been to but it seemed to have better reviews than the neighboring competition. read more

Well we were so excited after we booked online. 5 mins before our arrival time they called saying there was a hiccup. A church youth group was there and they needed to bump us to the next available time because there were extra people in there group they did not book. So After some interesting conversation to a girl,who was clearly out of her element the leader of the youth group said they would go later. We started our experience and overall it was a blast. However there are several inconsistencies in the escape. Poorly marked and smuged clues, and the supposed monitor was no help at all. Just there to collect a paycheck. It really was a fun experience just hindered by a few small very fixable things.We may try it again but I will be making a call to the owner to complain about the staff and the props .. read more

It's a hard to miss spot over by a bank, but we wanted to try it. Me and a few friends went as a quick trip before going back to the beach. The staff was more than happy to have us and were very welcoming and friendly to us. It was very challenging and made you think. We were uncertain based on it being in a bank but we were completely wrong! This was actually the nicest one we've visited and we had blast! We brought 3 teenagers and they had a great time. This was our first escape-the-room game ever, and like most people seem to agree, we had a great time! The puzzles were tricky but not too hard (we escaped just before the time ran out but needed a couple hints when we got stuck.... Love that they give hints if you're really stuck, I don't know if every room does this, but it was a great idea). The decor was nice and whimsical, and our group spanning a wide range of ages were all able to work together to solve the puzzles. The staff informed us that about 50% of groups get out (hints included), so I think it's at just the right level of difficulty. My only critique is that it was a bit pricey for an hour. But definitely fun, I would go back to try another theme sometime. read more

There are definitely better designed & executed escape rooms out there... Overall, my family and I had a great time figuring out the clues, but having done a breakout escape room previously this experience didn't quite meet my expectations. The first problem included the staff. They tried to make us take a later time slot because they didn't think the slots that they were "holding" for another group would get booked. Well if you don't want people to book an available slot, maybe you should not have it available. Our "warden" for the game was rude & not helpful during our scenario. In addition, a few things happened during the scenario that made it evident she was not even monitoring us. Lastly, the design of the game needs work. From smudged items to clues that simply couldn't be seen after having solved them made for an incomplete & stressful experience. As stated previously, the concept was enjoyable & we did have a great time. Just wish the staff had been more professional & the rooms more thoughtfully prepared. Again, there are better escape room brands out there. read more

This place should have only 5 star ratings. My family went with our Alice in Wonderland obsessed 9 yr old and we had SO much fun in the Mad Hatter room that we came back less than 24 hrs later to do the Prison Break and we'll definitely be back again to do more! MY personal favorite was the prison break- it has a very realistic feel and some of the clues use really cool effects. For people who love suspense and a challenge, I recommend this! While my brother did enjoy the prison one a lot (he walked out of the building skipping and smiling), he was obsessed with the Mad Hatter one. If you have children that like to be involved or if anyone in your group has a love of Wonderland/Disney/Fantasy, definitely go to this one because its super fun and gorgeous! We all love the girls working there as well. Theyre very good at helping with clues and getting you into the feel of the room beforehand! Definitely recommend this place. read more
