The equipment seems to be getting a little old and worn and there are some tech issues. Our session had one of us unable to start as their character was flying around the room and noise cancelling seemed broken or there was another microphone in the room causing our voices and ambient sounds to repeat and echo to the point we couldn't understand any of the instructions during the intro. They didn't restart or do anything so we missed the first 3-4 minutes of what was going on. They are always nice so still leaving a 4 just so hopefully they see and correct these issues.

We didn't see anyone at first but we heard a lot of voices and screams coming from excited players in boxes. Chris quickly came up to us and introduced himself. He gave us the run down and a tour. He showed us all the different games that we could play. It was really interesting! We decided to try it and Chris was great with assisting with suiting up, tips, and giving positive encouragement. Amy helped us get set up. You put on bands around each wrist and each ankle. You also put on a vest. Once inside the game room, Amy gave us goggles and a headset. You'll want to make sure the headpiece is tight enough because the goggles have to be situated in the right place so that the vision isn't blurry. It was intense!! I was a screamer. I would turn around and there would be a monster that had popped up behind me. I had a blast. It's a great workout. I was sweaty by the end. I'm a clean freak and am pleased to say that nothing had a smell and everything was very clean. I'd love to go back!

It was, indeed, very low-latency! The freedom of movement in the worlds was liberating. This felt more like the best version of paintball or capture the flag or hide-and-seek more than it felt like a video game. There were definitely some kinks the staff were working out since this place is so new (the beer taps weren't working initially, we got stuck/glitched at a certain section of the experience) but the friendly staff worked them all out. To top it all off you get a fun video that shows what badasses you look like in VR and also what dumbasses you look like outside of VR. I can't wait to go back! (I tried to go a second time but it was like herding cats and then I had to fly back to Alaska)

Max Action Arena offers games such as axe throwing, mini escape rooms, virtual reality and…read moreadventure rooms. There is also a bar inside. Some of the activities are first come, first serve and others may require a reservation. I was introduced to Max Action in December and decided to go back this month to check it out with a friend. They have a rechargeable play card that time is added to in order to access the games - this card can also be used at In The Game. We purchased time to try the mini-escape rooms. Some of the puzzles we were able to solve and some we were not able to figure out in time. There were a few issues with some of the rooms, however, once we inquired about it at the desk a tech came to verify and fix the issues with the rooms. The employees were gracious enough to reimburse our lost time with the rooms that needed to be reset. We still had a good time. One thing to know, is that some of the escape rooms require more than one person so going in alone would not work. I would go back to try some of the other activities or to see if I can defeat the escape rooms that we didn't solve. It is a neat place to spend time hanging out with friends.

We attended for a birthday as a group and took advantage of a Groupon so as to limit players to the 5 of us. We attempted "Crucifixus" - wow! I'm being cautious not to give any spoilers here, but this room was incredibly challenging and required your wits as well as your courage. Various stages tested our resolve, and each player was forced to bring something to the table at critical points for us to be successful. Open communication and teamwork paid off - we made it out in 50 minutes and in time for a successful escape! I'm excited to try their other rooms soon. This is a bit pricey per person for an hour of entertainment, but when you look at what goes into each puzzle room you can understand the price point. A savvy shopper will drive cost down with coupon / Groupon offers as well.
