I have to say that it is one of the best ways to spend a few hours, especially if you have friends or family visiting from away. Randy is a retired teacher and is a wealth of knowledge of the area with an ability to educate his guests in a very passionate and informative way. Tony Pearcey had the wood stove nicely burning by the time we returned to Pearcey's Twine Store after our walking tour, which was so welcoming. We were able to relax, tell a few stories and enjoy the view of the harbour. This tour is highly recommended. It's a very good experience and will leave you with many good memories. Well... The More You Know. This park is a little hub in the city that hosts everything from the folk festival to found memories of the first time I tried wine while sitting in the gazebo. It's a great piece of central green space that has a little bit for every one. Whether it's sight seeing for touristy folks, a spot to sit down and down some lunch picnic style or a play place for the kiddies - it's a pretty nifty park. Last time I was here, it had (and was) undergoing some pretty serious upgrades & maintenance, so that's nice to see they are keeping this place well groomed. On a nice day, it's the perfect spot to grab ice cream and take a wander through.

They have a well stocked snack bar (which includes beer and some alcohol) as well as a lounge area for legal patrons (19 years of age or older) and a party room for birthday parties or other celebrations. There are several leagues which are held during the year, including a 10 pin bowling league which is a great opportunity to have a night out and meet new people. As well, if you like darts, they hold several dart leagues as well (must be 19+). Definitely a great place for all age groups and personalities. You have to check this place out.

Underrated by locals, this…read moresprawling green space includes a huge duck pond, multiple bridges, forest-covered trails, huge moose statues, community pool, water park, playground...and presumably even more since we stopped before making it the whole way through. Among the highlights were a statue reportedly (but unconfirmed) of Peter Pan and a historic fountain for horses so that you can keep your steed hydrated while trotting through. The lines were a blast and the scenery was second to none! I've been to Newfoundland a ton but never got to do something like this here. Would definitely recommend this for a couple of hours of fun. 10 lines over 2 hours. 1 was about a kilometer in length. Plus you can order lunch that'll be there when you get back. Definitely do it!

Petty Harbour is one pretty example, that's a short drive from St. John's on the way to Cape Spear. It's located on the Avalon Peninsula and in the heart of Motion Bay. A nice Air Canada steward on our JFK-YUL flight was from Newfoundland and recommended that we visit Petty Harbour. So Gayle and I drive around the harbour and stopped to look around. I even got into a conversation with a local fisherman, who proudly recommended some other sights we should see.
