Ok first off, before I looked up the website to add to this business page, I was under the…read moreimpression that this park was pronounced ba-na-men park. I GREW UP HERE. That's just ridiculous. Well... The More You Know. This park is a little hub in the city that hosts everything from the folk festival to found memories of the first time I tried wine while sitting in the gazebo. It's a great piece of central green space that has a little bit for every one. Whether it's sight seeing for touristy folks, a spot to sit down and down some lunch picnic style or a play place for the kiddies - it's a pretty nifty park. Last time I was here, it had (and was) undergoing some pretty serious upgrades & maintenance, so that's nice to see they are keeping this place well groomed. On a nice day, it's the perfect spot to grab ice cream and take a wander through.

Bowring Park was a lovely surprise for an evening stroll yesterday! Underrated by locals, this…read moresprawling green space includes a huge duck pond, multiple bridges, forest-covered trails, huge moose statues, community pool, water park, playground...and presumably even more since we stopped before making it the whole way through. Among the highlights were a statue reportedly (but unconfirmed) of Peter Pan and a historic fountain for horses so that you can keep your steed hydrated while trotting through. Wait for a sunny day then go check it out!

Gayle and I visited Harbourside Park during a Sunday walk on a atypical cool and foggy June day. We specifically stopped to admire the bronze Newfoundland and Labrador dog statues. But we stayed for the Harbour (and Narrows) vantage points to see the ship traffic or lack of depending on timing. This park is also across the street from the very interesting National War Memorial.

The business card for the cab neglected to put the area code on the card? The wonderful ladies at the botanical garden helped us out. Gave me the area code and called a taxi for us. Also gave us suggestions on a cemetery to visit. I get lots of different reactions when I ask about cemeteries and they weren't phased they were kinda exited. Great place and wonder friendly staff.

This houses their administration offices, gift shop, washrooms, displays introducing the park, as well as the space where they hold have information seminars and host children's groups. There's a bus that goes up or you can drive. There's a large parking lot. There's an old tower on top that looks like a castle. Nearby are plaques about the hill's history. Then there are several trails to get different views of the area. I did the long one and it was worth it despite the many stairs.

The trail that winds around Kent's Pond is 1.5 kilometres through mostly forested areas. Some…read moreparts of the trail are adjacent to the pond, where the ducks and birds gather waiting for some treats. Lots of song birds and marsh animals visible. A very nice secluded trail in the heart of the area - not far from the main thoroughfares. Hard to believe it when you are enveloped in the quietude of the path. Access to it from many points.
