I have to say that it is one of the best ways to spend a few hours, especially if you have friends or family visiting from away. Randy is a retired teacher and is a wealth of knowledge of the area with an ability to educate his guests in a very passionate and informative way. Tony Pearcey had the wood stove nicely burning by the time we returned to Pearcey's Twine Store after our walking tour, which was so welcoming. We were able to relax, tell a few stories and enjoy the view of the harbour. This tour is highly recommended. It's a very good experience and will leave you with many good memories. First of all, Petty Harbour has to be one of the largest and most picturesque towns in southern Newfoundland. You can actually find a bite to eat and some scenic photo spots here. The Mini Aquarium is indeed a small place. As you come into Petty Harbour you will see its sign on the side of the building and have little trouble getting there. Inside there are two small rooms with about 20-25 tanks of various species of Newfoundland Marine life. Each room has a few tanks where you can "pet" various creatures such as star fish. Washrooms are available here as well. The cost for an adult was 8-9$ (I can't remember exactly). This price was worth it to me, if in some small way to support this educational place. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with information. I came rather indifferent to making the stop, yet left glad I did.

The storyline for Atlantis was well crafted and entertaining. Truthfully we missed a couple of really obvious clues, but at other times we truly needed a bit of help to move forward. We've played at many places and this was the first time when a staff member came into the room each time you buzzed for a clue; we were accustomed to someone speaking through a screen or intercom! They thought him a fool, a judgment borne out a few days later when he ran his ship aground and drowned. Gayle and I visited Harbourside Park during a Sunday walk on a atypical cool and foggy June day. We specifically stopped to admire the bronze Newfoundland and Labrador dog statues. But we stayed for the Harbour (and Narrows) vantage points to see the ship traffic or lack of depending on timing. This park is also across the street from the very interesting National War Memorial.

Bowring Park was a lovely surprise for an evening stroll yesterday! Underrated by locals, this…read moresprawling green space includes a huge duck pond, multiple bridges, forest-covered trails, huge moose statues, community pool, water park, playground...and presumably even more since we stopped before making it the whole way through. Among the highlights were a statue reportedly (but unconfirmed) of Peter Pan and a historic fountain for horses so that you can keep your steed hydrated while trotting through. Wait for a sunny day then go check it out!
