We decided to book an escape room to start off our vacation as soon as we arrived in Hilton Head from Charlotte last weekend. We arrived 30 mins early, and the room was already ready. Bottled water and candy are provided when you arrive, which is nice. My husband and I did the Taken room. The atmosphere of the cabin is great. It was challenging. Some clues were easier than others; of course, you can always ask for a hint. I think we escaped with about 6 mins to spare. We had so much fun and talked about it for hours afterward. My wife, parents, and sister and her husband all did the Taken room on a Wednesday night. Very cool experience and very challenging! We unfortunately did not make it out in the allotted time, but it was still very enjoyable. This escape room differs from others that I have done in a few different ways. One being that they offer a maximum of 3 clues in order to try and get out whereas others have offered clues as needed or as asked for. They also have a leaderboard and keep track of the fastest times with and without clues. Escape rooms are interesting to do every so often. Always a creative and fun hour to challenge yourself. read more

My husband, in-laws, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law went to this Escape Room. We decided on the Taken room and unfortunately were unable to escape! You were allowed to ask for clues no more than three times, and after that, you were out of luck! When the employee explained the room to us, there was a monitor behind her scrolling through pictures of other groups who could or could not complete it. In addition, there was a whiteboard that listed the fastest time a group had escaped with and without clues. Being only the second time I have done an Escape Room, they never seem to get easier! This was our first time doing an escape room so we weren't sure what to expect. The staff was great answering all our questions and making sure we understood. It was a great time working together figuring out the riddles and puzzles. This really made you think outside the box. We didn't escape the Houdini room but we got supper close, 2 clues away. Wasn't bad for it being our first time and being 6 people for a 12 people game. We had so much fun and enjoyed it. So this was months ago when me and another enthusiast came out. So the first time, we saw there was a room available and thought we would drive out to check it out. We livesd roughly 45 minutes away with no traffic and once we arrived we discovered the door was locked. We called the number and no one answered so the phone was forwarded to the manager who was on vacation in Florida. We stated that the doors was locked and that there was an opening for 7p and the business hours was until 10p. She said the girl should be there and since there wasn't any reservations she probably went home early. We were like okaaay. So we ended up just having dinner on the island and left. The next day we decided to go ahead and book the room so that they would see a reservation was in. Got there the door was locked again. Called and the call was forwarded to the manager. She said the girl lives nearby and can be back closer to the reservation start time. I guess when the girl came back she decided to call us to see where we were. We went to grab a drink to cool our frustrations to get through this adventure.. so we got there and recognize the girl was young. She kind of rushed us through the intro but we had done rooms before so we didn't care. We just noticed. This is the Taken room. We started searching and starting finding stuff but she was like you can't use that key yet. You have to go in order. We were getting annoyed. Because that made us have to figure out the order and use up the clues for it. Lastly the annoying thing was we had the right word for a lock but my counterpart spelled it wrong... she heard us saying the word out loud but we couldn't use any more clues. We literally sat there for 15 minutes looking for different words. I didn't think to check his spelling because I thought maybe we needed to go a different direction. Time was up and she came in and was like you guys had the right word... well thanks sis. Maybe could've said to make sure the letters are lined up right or something. Anything. There was a bunch of unnecessary stuff in this room too. Kind of distracting. Makes you think if their goal is to help guide you out or to limit you so that you don't escape. Idk. I was done after that. But he wanted to try another one, The Houdini room. We had two other groups with us, a family of 4 and a group of teenagers. This is just an open room full of locks to stuff. You never know the order or where to go to first. Idk, I guess it's a different style of escape rooms. One I'm not fond of. Second worse room I've gone to out of the 22 businesses of escape rooms I've gone to. Main thing, if you have set business hours then ensure someone is actually there. If you want to close business early then change your hours permanently. read more

My first time here and first time in an escape room. I can say it was actually pretty exhilarating. Makes you really think outside the box. Some of my family said they've been in other escape rooms and this one was quite nice compared to the others. Anyway you first have to read and sign a waiver for Insurance purposes and then get an initial explanation of the different locks you'll be dealing with and how they work. They explain the rules and if you get stuck you can have up to 3 clues to help you get going again if you get stuck. You get a theme that you have been kidnapped somewhere in the mountains and trapped in a cabin. You're then led to your escape room. You have 1 hour to escape. A TV monitor is mounted on the wall that has a creepy picture of the cabin your trapped in and a timer on screen counting down the minutes to escape. You can leave the room at anytime if you need to use the bathroom but the clock keeps ticking regardless. A panic release button will unlock the door at anytime or using the glues will let you out using the keypad to unlock the door. The key to getting out is looking for a repetitive pattern. At the end you can pose for your picture. I would definitely try it again had a great time. read more

This room was poorly made and was one room only, had an excessive number of lock boxes, the staff was subpar and things were broken in the game. Having traveled all over and been to dozens of escape rooms, I would rate the location in the bottom 2. The room just had a lot of locks but was not immersive. The room was linear but it was extremely easy to get out of order because of the broken pieces and clues on the wall. Suggestion is to only go in order and don't go in small groups. I was blown away with how many positive reviews but don't be fooled, this room is not worth the money. Note to staff: act like you actually want to be at work and don't rush through the orientation so that you can shove people into the game. Make your customers feel important and immerse them into the room. When asking for a hint, give a hint and don't just tell the answer right away. Don't lie and say not to move a box just because you don't want to have to move it back, you made us think that the box was useful in the game when you just didn't want the trouble resetting it. When your gamers are having to jump up and down and scream for a clue, pay attention and do your job. Customer service and a solid game is key, this room had neither. read more

I came here for a work event with WWP. We had a large group and needed a last minute alternative activity for our veterans to complete since we had a turn of weather. HH Escape Room was more than accommodating. The associate offered to open the facility early to accommodate our group and was very sensitive to their needs. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. WARNING !!!!!!Worst experience ever. Do not book here! The manager/owner Jesse was rude as hell. She cancelled our booking and didn't even send a cancellation email. We had it booked for a birthday group and he was very disappointed. We called the escape room 5 times that day prior to our booking to add another player and no one answered. After arriving to a dark closed escape room. We asked for our money back and she acted like I was inconveniencing her then hung up in my face. I still don't have my money back. She also sounded intoxicated when she finally answered the phone. Overall, she was very unprofessional. Do not waste your time nor money here. read more

It was very frustrating to have solved two portions of the puzzles only to have two combination locks not work. We ended up using one hint on one of the locks and the clue was "you have to try the combination a few times to make it open" which pretty much defeats the purpose of trying many numbers we found as the combination. Then our final lock didn't open despite many variations of the directional lock combo from the map. When the moderator came in after time ran out we asked what the solution to that lock was and she told. We then tried it 3 times in the lock unsuccessfully and asked her to show us that it works and she refused, saying "sometimes it takes a bunch of tries to get the lock to open". With what you charged 7 people for this sham, you should buy new locks if they wear out. read more
