I visited on July 31, 2026, for a team bonding event with my company, and we had such a great time! We were split into two groups and completed two different games, each with its own unique challenges. The staff was incredibly pleasant and kept everything running smoothly. My teammates and I had so much fun working together, strategizing, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. It was a fantastic experience and a great way for our department to bond outside of the workplace. I definitely look forward to coming back! Great service. Not a bad set of escape rooms, as long as expectations aren't very high. All of the escape rooms here feel homemade / low-budget. They're not polished and some props were finicky, but they were decent enough to do, especially when they give a 50% off discount for doing another escape room with them in the future. All rooms have a good combination of puzzles. They have simple, but intuitive storylines. Game masters have all been attentive and nice. We've only encountered one game master that rushed us out, but the rest were all patient and provided great service. Sometimes they can be understaffed. In those cases, we didn't get a proper "send off" with an opportunity to take a picture and ask questions. If I were to choose only one or two escape rooms to do from here, I'd recommend The Perfect Crime and then Exodus. Those two rooms felt the most cohesive and had just the right amount of challenge. From most to least favorite, I'd rank their rooms as the following, and I wouldn't recommend anything below Prey and Masquerade: Perfect Crime, Exodus, Prey, Masquerade , Nuclear Annihilation, Quarantine. Even though Prey and Nuclear Annihilation are said to be their hardest rooms, they are only hard because they have more puzzles, but the puzzles aren't hard. Some can be not intuitive, but most of them seem like busy work and lazily designed. We played the nuclear annihilation room with 4 people. The room felt poorly designed -- it was basically a bunch of drawers and locks on each drawer. The puzzles were all on a piece of paper that you get whenever you solve one and open a drawer, which takes away from the fun and excitement of looking for clues in an escape room. The very few puzzles that were not lock-based were also poorly designed with half of them contributing nothing to the escape room after solving it. It was also hard to know when you actually solved those puzzles because sometimes the lights would malfunction or a random cabinet among all the locked cabinets would silently open. There was no immersive storyline and we found ourselves bored and disappointed from this escape room. Our game master was also not attentive and there were times when we asked for a hint and got no response. When he finally responded, he sounded distracted and would ask what puzzle we were currently doing. It felt like he did not want to be here and we forced him to come in on his day off or something. Overall I would not recommend this room or this escape room company. There's so many other great escape rooms in NYC, don't waste your time and money on this one. read more

My friends and I went out to dinner and decided to do an escape room, so during dinner we were googling nearby escape rooms. We found that this one had good same-day availability with similar affordable rates, so we made a reservation for one of their easier games. This was good because we had a couple beginners in our group, and I consider myself a bit more experienced but I love escape rooms of any level! The one we chose was called Quarantine, and the storyline was about stopping a mad scientist from releasing a bio weapon worldwide, which seemed fun to us! No spoilers for the puzzles, of course, but there were a wide variety of them, not just all locks and numbers, and there were a few puzzles that had very cool impressive mechanisms! There was one compartment that was already opened so when we solved the actual puzzle, we were confused why nothing happened, but it didn't hinder our progress in the end. It was also very fun because it was science-themed, and since we are all doctoral students, we had a very fun time with the biology and chemistry references! We finished the escape room with 21 minutes to spare, and the game master said it was the fastest time they'd had that week (which could be something they tell everybody, but it made me happy). My friends and I had a blast and when we were finished, they offered us a great deal for a discount on our second booking, so we immediately reserved that; and we'll be coming back again for another game. I made a mistake with the address so we arrived about 15 minutes late, but the young lady who manages the facility was very nice and gave us 15 extra minutes so he had a full hour in the escape room. ***SPOILERS AHEAD. IF you don't care to be spoiled about the Masquerade escape room, do not read this.*** Hope you like deciphering a lot of codes to get various passwords and such. The main game mechanic for our room (The Masquerade) was to get a clue, and then figure out what the symbols on a thing mean to give you a code, which you then translate into a password or a combination for a lock. There are various pieces on the walls/room that have a red sticker on them, which means that they're not really part of the puzzle, so just look at them and don't touch. OK, fine. I get that you'r trying to make an atmosphere, so you want set decoration, but for a small room of the size it is you kind of need to be thoughtful about what you're putting in there, so that each piece is either leading you to figuring out the room or a red herring. The max party size for this room is 10 people. We were 6 people, and it felt a little cramped at times. I can't imagine with 10 people the chaos that would be there. The other issue is that there's music playing in the background almost the whole time you're in there. It's fine for people who like music on, but if you're one of those who can't concentrate a lot with loud music in the background, this is going to be problematic. Not to give spoilers, but there's a fair bit of information that the TV in the room gives you, both at the start and during the time you're in there. Also, there's an important clue that involves listening to a recording. With music going on in the background, and the recording coming out of the thing it came out of, it was really hard to figure out what was going on. We needed like 4 hints, mainly because the stuff in the room was not leading us anywhere. What did they do well? Have your ID ready when you arrive if you're the one who booked the room. They will ask for it. As soon as you got in, they offered you the use of the bathroom. That's awesome. Get those comfort issues resolved immediately. The bathrooms were clean. Double bonus, because few things will ruin a mood like a smelly bathroom. One we got in, the worker had a pretty good run-down of how to interact with the room: don't break anything, the stuff with red stickers on is for lookies not touchies. The green "let me out" button is broken so if you need to step out of the room for whatever reason, literally just open the door and walk out, you're fine. If you need to get a hint, simply look at the TV, and speak clearly that you need a hint, and they'll send a clue to you instantly. And let me tell you, they are QUICK with the hints when you need them, because I think they're keeping an eye on your progress while you're playing. This is good because if they see you so close to an answer but you keep going the wrong way, they can send you a quick hint to get you back on track. I like that a lot. I also like that instead of interrupting the room, they literally just put the hint up on the TV screen for you to read, in plain language, so that you understand what it is that you're missing. I also like that when you book a room with a party, it's a private room from there on out. That room is your room, no matter how many people you book into there. That's a really nice thing, because you don't have to play with random strangers. They also drop the price to $40 if you're bringing more than like 2 or 3 people. As escape rooms go, not the cheapest, but not the most expensive by a long shot, especially not for the neighbourhood it's in. Things are easy to book online, and we started promptly when we arrived on time. For the price we paid, I'd say the value was average: not great value, but we didn't feel ripped off or anything. My friends and I decided to come here last minute while we were waiting for our dinner reservation. We stopped by on a Saturday around 5PM, after making our reservation online for the room. It was easy to navigate the website and view the different rooms and booking times that were taken/available for the day. The theme we chose was Quarantine (fitting as of recent events), where a mad scientist was unleashing a virus and we needed to find the cure to save everyone. The rules were explained when we got inside, and there was a screen on the wall where we received hints and saw the introduction to the situation. The puzzles weren't too hard and each of us were able to contribute at our own pace. We had an hour. There were 5 of us, and we had enough room to shuffle around each other to do the puzzles but the room was pretty small. I've been to much bigger escape rooms, but they made due with what they had. The puzzles themselves had to be exact to solve the problem, ie. the magnet, or the bottle on the exact spot for it to register that we solved that portion. We ended up making it out and it was a pretty fun experience. Overall, I would be open to coming here again and trying out other rooms. Hopefully they are much bigger than this one was, because the actual theme and puzzles were fun, it just felt a bit cramped. read more

You have to take an elevator up once you get in the building. I don't recall the name of the room but it was scientist themed. It was decent. This escape room is located on the fifth floor of an unassuming building. I tried A Perfect Crime in a group of four. The room had decent props and storyline, but was a bit lacking in variety of activity. The room had a bunch of locks throughout and the goal is pretty much just to open all the locks. We found the room fairly challenging and we were grateful for the clues along the way. A few people in our group were late. They allowed us to start ten minutes after our reservation, but said any further delays would reduce our solving time. But they did let one of our team members join after we had started, which we appreciated. Staff were friendly. I was drawn to Escape Room Madness for its unbeatable prices, returning customer deals, and positive reviews, but I had to say my experience was pretty okay overall. We were a group of 4 and we tried out the Exodus room for my birthday weekend. Note, there are NO spoilers below :). Let me break down the good and the not-so-good. The good: - The clues were helpful! We were able to work our way out of confusing moments thanks to our clue master. - We weren't familiar with one of the locks, but we were walked through how to crack it before our time started, which was much appreciated. - There was a cool electronic clue... no spoilers, but I thought that was really fun! - They actually used the names and histories of Egyptian gods and goddesses so the history component was fun! The not-so-good: - The room itself was small. Without giving anything away to future patrons, it felt... kind of bland and drab in terms of decor. Based on the reviews, I was expecting more. - I booked the Exodus room, as my family is big into museums and history, yet found it to be a whole lot of the same puzzle over and over and over again. You'd open one thing and you'd get another thing that required a key etc etc -- I'm trying to be vague so as not to ruin the experience for others, but in essence, the puzzles didn't feel super varied. - The ending of the room (as we did end up escaping--woohoo!) was super anticlimactic ://. Only after the game, they informed us that a child had broken a part of the room which cost a lot to fix... and while I get that, we didn't actually know that we escaped/beat the room because of how boring the end was. It made me feel a little disappointed. - The service was alright--overall, everyone working was friendly and informed about the ways the room worked, but it sorta seemed like none of them wanted to be there? Maybe I misread, but the overall energy felt really low. - The photo area had some really cool props... but was so small and dimly lit that the photos didn't come out great. I've been to Escape the Room NYC a couple times and one thing I really enjoy about that location is the complexity of the rooms and the warm and upbeat energy of the staff and energetic clue masters. Says that if you can prove someone in your party tested positive for Covid prior to your reservation that you can supply them with the test and you will get a refund. We sent them the email with the test hours before the reservation. Here we three days later, and everybody in the store says they did not get an email. We responded to the email address they gave us on sign-up, but they said it was the wrong email because they don't use that one. He also told us that in our email we said we wanted to reschedule, this is not in any of our emails. They also didn't get the three emails, sent by three people in the party that were forwarded to a different email they told me they do use. After about 20 minutes on the phone they said they could not give a refund anyway, and that the refund had to come directly from the owner. I called them out about their predatory practices and how they lie and gaslight in order to keep funds , even if we followed their policy perfectly . Will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. More of a 3.5 star review. Escaped two rooms here so far, APOCALYPTIC MISSION (advanced) and PREY (advanced) I thought they were both decently challenging. Their rooms are extremely lock heavy and not as high-tech as some of the others I've been so. Some of the puzzles were also not set up correctly so they didn't work the way they were supposed to. The cluemaster also sometimes gave us clues too quickly when we didn't ask for them (I know we probably looked confused but only if they gave us a bit more time to figure it out lol). Not going to spoil anything here, but after coming out of apocalyptic mission, I thought that the clues could have tied back to the storyline more. I honestly didn't really even know what the goal was, we just kept solving little puzzles in order to unlock the locks. There were also some puzzles that were really just busywork instead of having to really solve anything. Wish there were other rooms to unlock (this is a one room game), though it was hard enough that we got out of this room with only 5 minutes to spare with 2 people. If I had to pick one out of the two to do, I'd probably pick PREY! 6-8 people is probably best. read more

Friend booked the Apocalyptic Mission room for a Saturday night game since it's located conveniently in Ktown near our dinner reservations. We had done a few Escape rooms before and we wanted to have a room that's maxed out for our group of 6. The room itself was pretty underwhelming, the smallest one we've been in and only a single ugly room, dark and basic with minimal furnishings. I actually thought it was a pregame room at first. In terms of puzzles, there was a reliance on a bunch of combination locks, literally all the drawers of a dresser. Story felt negligible as we scrambled in a pretty sequential order to find the next set of numbers and the next. There were plenty of puzzles though and it was still pretty challenging; we escaped with only 1:13 left. Clue master was really sweet and tried her best to help us through our 5 clues. Even though we escaped, we left feeling oddly anticlimactic. Perhaps because there wasn't really any big satisfying eureka moment, the overall feeling of just one lock combo after another. Underwhelming if you've been to other escape rooms, but not bad to try. read more

We did every single room and they were all amazing. Prey was actually pretty scary which is rare for an escape room and the visuals were just amazing. The story line of each of the rooms was pretty great but the best story had to be prey as it was very unique and was just a rip off of any Hollywood movie. The easier of the rooms were definitely the tomb of doom and masquerade but they shouldn't be regarded as very easy because it will take a team to get through them. Overall, loved these rooms. Thanks to the Game master that my friend and I were able to escape (2 people in a game made for 12!). It was an OK experience. Came here for a corporate event, but the game masters were not that great and we did the nuclear annihilation and the perfect crime room. I was personally in the perfect crime room and it was just one room and not very high tech at all. They were ALL combo locks and some of the locks were very hard to turn and some of the letters were rubbed off so we couldn't read. A lot of the props kept breaking or weren't working so it was not the money at all. Both teams did not escape and we were all super smart. Bummer! read more

I've done about 30 escape rooms in different cities, and I definitely enjoyed my visit here to do the Nuclear Annihilation room. First of all the staff was enthusiastic and friendly, and very responsive with hints. Definitely needed that since I was taking a crack at a room by myself and needed a lot of help! (Nope, I didn't escape.) The room Nuclear Annihilation had a LOT of puzzles that can be solved at the same time, which means it would be great for a large group (up to 12). I've done a lot of rooms with large groups where there is only one puzzle that only a few can work on at a time and everyone else had to stand around waiting. Not gonna happen here. This room also goes all-in on the "find a 4-digit number to open 4-digit combo lock" technique. There had to be over a dozen of them. Some escape room fans are looking for something more original, but I enjoy these just fine. Also, there were a couple mechanisms for revealing numbers that I had never seen before in an escape room before and I really enjoyed. Overall had a great experience and am looking forward to coming back to try their other rooms! read more

My wife and I got a chance to play the Perfect Crime and really enjoyed the puzzles. The game was in a large, well-lit room and had a whodunit theme in which you learned about suspects throughout the game and needed to solve the murder in 60 minutes before the killer killed again. The front desk person was super sweet and booked us into the next available room right away, "The Perfect Crime." The rooms were well put together and the staff was super friendly. All priced at $31 (after taxes and fees) each. Our clue master, Rita, is one of the best clue masters we've ever had! Super friendly and very attentive to your need for clues. Saturday tends to be the busiest day for this location. Sunday on the other hand has tons of rooms available with little to no chance of sharing the room with strangers.
