I finally got a chance to try The Witch's Curse at Exit! My friend and I booked a private room for 2 people at 1:30pm on a Wednesday ($90 total - $45/person). Ashley was our moderator, and she was so enthusiastic! This was the best experience I have had here, so they either upgraded their moderation systems, or Ashley is that amazing! I enjoyed our experience with The Witch's Curse. Everything made sense, and many of the puzzles tied into the theme. Like their other rooms, I like that they use a variety of puzzles, not just locks everywhere. Overall, I still stand by my previous review that I think their rooms could be more challenging. However, I would highly recommend Exit to beginners. I like that you can book a private experience, and the pricing is one of the more affordable in the city. The price decreases the more people you have, but a group of 4 is perfect for Exit because the rooms are on the smaller side, and the puzzles are not that complex. read more

Did 2 out of the 4 rooms here one day (Sugar Rush and High Speed NYC) and had a great time. We are 3 adults who have done 30-40 escape rooms so are very experienced. I like that the rooms are private and the game masters asked us how we wanted our hints - we decided on no hints unless we directly asked, but if we were 'stuck' somewhere for 10mins they could give us a nudge. We did each room in about half an hour. We felt the puzzles made logical sense, were satisfying to complete, and didn't have any weird leaps of logic to solve. So while they were not the hardest rooms we've done, we found them very rewarding to complete! The room decor was great and immersive and the game masters were super nice. Took a ride into the city from LI. Kids had a blast and this place is walking distance from Penn. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We did the mafia heist room with family (was their first time), and it was fun with a lot of classic puzzles as well as a few creative ones! There were some elements that were a bit worn and glitchy, and there was one puzzle in particular that felt like it was just there to waste time, so that was frustrating. Difficulty wise would say it's pretty easy: half the group was very experienced and half the group was brand new, we escaped with 15 min to spare. The theme was decently implemented, not super high production but a small, cute, on-theme set up. The staff was the only downside of our experience- they seemed very low energy and we had to ask them for everything from water cups and locker Keyes to whether they needed anything from us to get started ... we just sat in the lobby for a while and they also didn't check in to get us started for the game until we asked what now... read more

We loved it! Did High Speed NYC as a first-time escape room family of 3 with 2 adults and a nearly-8yo. It was tricky but we solved it all with 5 min to spare, only using 1 hint. The puzzles were tough but not impossible (except for the one we used a hint on) and all different. Will definitely go back for Mafia Heist! read more

Played high speed NYC, which can be up to 8 people, but played with minimum of 2. There are 3 separate rooms, which was awesome! The game and clues were awesome. Just did High Speed here, which was also super fun. Solved with two people for three rooms. A bit more challenging than Sugar Rush and you use less of your senses, but it's not incredibly difficult either. You also get a solid NYC train experience (albeit without the smell of urine and grime) since it's subway themed. The game master gave us a bit too many unprompted clues, especially since we mentioned that we've done many escape rooms, but otherwise I'd highly recommend this escape room, as well as Sugar Rush. read more

So much fun! I absolutely LOVE escape rooms. I make it a mission to complete an escape room every city I visit. I have done quite a few all over the country and I really did enjoy this one. They have a list of pretty unique escape rooms, which I like. We completed the baking competition cupcake escape room. (First of its kind that I have seen) The puzzles are unique and fun to complete. Even my dad was happy to participate, and he was iffy about joining the game at first. We got some cupcakes at the end and got to add frosting to them. Definitely recommend! read more

I'm still pretty new to escape rooms but this place was awesome. I was a guest so I wasn't involved in the booking process but you do have to make reservations and pick a time slot as well. Easy to find and they are located in the middle of the block and on the first floor. You buzz and someone lets you down another short hallway and a glass door and the counter to check in is to your right. There's a decent sized waiting room as well and a backdrop and props for pictures. They are 4 rooms and each room has it's own locker to store whatever you don't want to bring with you. Very nice during the winter for your winter coats. Staff was very friendly from the counter folks, room helper and everyone else we dealt with. Once you're ready, they bring you in the room and explain the rules. You have an hour and there's a screen and they give you a radio for clues. The clues aren't easy but not too hard either. Awesome way to spend an hour or so. I definitely want to come back and try the other rooms. read more

Okay escape rooms. Friendly staff. The feel of the whole place is "homemade." With that in mind, the escape rooms were built well for a small business. My friend and I did High Speed (their most popular escape room) and The Perfect Heist (their "hardest" escape room), and both were not as challenging as we had hoped for. The puzzles felt random and didn't seem to tie into their respective stories, leaving us feeling like the experiences as a whole weren't as cohesive as other escape rooms we've tried. They include some "high-tech" things that unlock automatically, but some of their tech is finicky. Not the best escape rooms we've tried, but also not the worst. I'd go for High Speed for a more immersive escape room experience. The Perfect Heist wasn't that much harder. Both rooms felt like there could've been more puzzles. Apart from their rooms and puzzles, everything else was great. Booking went smoothly. Their check-in area is cozy and has some cute small puzzles people can play with while they wait. They lock your stuff in organized cabinets before you enter the room. They also take pictures for you when you finish the escape room. Probably wouldn't return or recommend this over some other escape rooms we've tried, but I don't mind supporting a small business. read more

My husband and I are in our 60s and wanted to do something fun with our son (in his late 20s) who was visiting from LA. We had an absolute blast. We escaped with about 3 minutes to spare .It is the perfect mix of adrenaline rush and use of intellect. The Witch's Curse was beautifully designed and felt like an expensive movie set. We booked The Witch's Curse for my daughter's 10th birthday for 6 kids and 2 adults. The kids had an absolute blast as if they were in Hogwarts, and we loved watching them wide-eyed with their jaws dropped half the time. The staff was very helpful with clues and comments arriving just at the exact moment. They also gave the kids extra 3 minutes since they were just about to complete the last challenge when the time was up. I wish I had made a video of the kids. I went to experience an escape room for the first time with family, and it was a great experience. We tried the Mob Heist experience, where we stole money from the Mafia and had to break out with the money in an hour. We had to solve some puzzles and open secret compartments. The staff was very helpful as well - we had three free hints that we could use. You have an hour to complete the escape room, and we made it with only 4 minutes to spare. I will say though that there aren't any signs outside the place, so it's kind of hard to find. Also a lot of the props are a little beat up and could use some upkeep. read more

Okay, so i've done several escape rooms in NYC and i believe that this may be my favorite one. I've done the subway one and the mafia/money heist one and both were great. Pros: - cool puzzles that are a mix of HIGH TECH, locks, riddles, etc. and not just a lot of "boring" puzzles. def more high tech than other spots. -puzzle difficulty is good too. got most of it but had to use a hint... but still got out of both mwahaha. -price: $35 per person (with a group of 4) and had a PRIVATE room so you don't have to play with strangers. other places are usually more expensive, especially if you want a private room. Cons: really can't think of any other than you should plan several weeks in advance since their time slots get reserved pretty early. (oh and if you have a bad time... it's probably because of the people you teamed up with OR you are the problem lol) TLDR: if you want a fun, cool escape room experience with great puzzles for a good price, look no further. Came here for a friends bday bash. We wanted to have a friendly competition of guys vs. gals so we got two separate rooms laying against each other. The guys did the Money Heist room while the gals did the Book of Magic one. Besides the fact that it got overly hot in that room, I had a blast! We got so competitive and tried really hard to get out. Unfortunately the guys made it out within the 60 mins. Some clues were difficult but a fun time none the less. read more

My only criticism would be that 1- Some of the objects inside the room need maintenance/fixing, although nothing was broken to the point of not being usable 2- The building door was locked and there were no labels on the buzzers for Escape Room. We went here Saturday for my sisters birthday and had so much fun. We were in New York for vacation and I located this luckily. We weren't able to take pictures nor videos inside of the room, but we did the perfect heist (hardest room) and it was just that. We definitely had to use the clues because that crap was hardddddd. You really have to pay attention to everything! Like everything & really communicate which becomes hard in the room and depending on how y'all talk. Whew child it got tense in there lol The only qualm I have was that it was so damn hot in there lol We made it out with 20 seconds left to spare. I would definitely do this again. It was my first escape room, but my sisters said they have been to others and this was by far better than those. We were able to take pictures at the end with props etc Oh yeah, we got lost but they helped us find it and still were able to accommodate us. Brought my friends here for my bday! We did the speeding train room and had a lot of fun. The room was pretty difficult, this was my second escape room and it was definitely harder than the last one I did. We were given a walkie talkie to talk to the room coordinator if we needed a clue, and we used it twice. Some parts of the puzzles we had right but it needed another extra touch, like when a different person in my group tried it they were able to click a door open better than I could. All in all we were entertained and the room was decorated on theme really well because it definitely felt like you were on a train. I'd come back here again and try another room. read more

We just went for the Sugar Rush escape room and it was perfect! This was our first time doing an escape room - 2 adults and 3 kids ages 8-10. I chose this company because it was open early in the day, was not scary for the kids, and was one of the only that allowed kids and did not make you pay for the extra spaces to have a private room. The room was in 2 parts with lots of fun puzzles that the kids enjoyed. Some puzzles were trickier, but we still made it out with 2 mins left on the clock and were able to eat our cupcakes. Our puzzle host Mike was one of the owners. He sent us freebie tips when he saw us getting stuck instead of making us use all our help calls. We already want to go back and do another room! The only room for improvement is the story line is a bit weak and there's a slight gap between the two sections. Our 4th escape room as a group! After browsing a few room reviews, we landed on High Speed NYC. I was honestly drawn in from the photo of the realistic subway decor. Don't be fooled by their lobby/waiting area. Doesn't seem like much but this all changes when you enter the room - this has got to be my favorite room so far in terms of production value. The room is built out so masterfully, and they really paid attention to all the small details. You truly feel like you're on a subway!!! The puzzles are also more on the high tech side, so whenever you unlock something, you're usually quite amazed at what just happened haha. Won't give anything away, but I'm sure you'll be like me standing there in awe half the time admiring our surroundings instead of concentrating on solving the puzzles lol. The only thing that I felt needed improvement was just the check-in process. There was another group there when we arrived, so it was pretty crowded, and no one really greeted us or asked us what room we were there for, etc. Can't wait to come back to try out the other rooms! read more

Loved my experience here, we did the bakery themed room the first day we were in NYC and breezed through that pretty easily but in spite of that I found that the puzzles were innovative - we had to actually use all five senses and it was the first escape room I've done where they have you taste and smell things as part of the clues. Day two got rained out so decided to go back and try the subway game that many people wrote great reviews for - again finished this one with lots of time to spare but the mechanics of the puzzles were fresh enough that we didn't feel let down by the lack of a challenge. I will say both rooms were pretty linear in terms of puzzles meaning you really had to solve each puzzle in a row. And it limited the ability for people to split up and solve their own puzzles. And in the bakery room there was some wear and tear that basically showed you what the solution was based on where some things had rubbed off (being vague to avoid spoilers). I wouldn't do either room with more than 3-4 seasoned escape room fans but again, both had committed to the themes in fun ways and the puzzles were innovative so I can overlook those flaws. They were priced reasonably, the location is great and the staff were friendly and not overly eager with clues (which is a pet peeve of mine). read more
