We had a team building event here last night. Our reservation was at a certain time and upon our arrival we found the establishment locked. The gamer was running late and so we waited outside for 30 minutes. Once he arrived, he mentioned a few instructions rather quickly we went off to the chemistry lab escape room which was very difficult for some of us. Our walkie talkie was broken and so when we needed to speak to the gamer he had to enter the room. Also, we found a clue to one of the codes and it did not open so the gamer had to enter the room again to open it for us. Our experience was fun as a team but just okay for the experience with the company. Will not be returning read more

A large group of family members decided to try 2 of their "rooms" and it was so much fun! The staff was super helpful and friendly. Such a nice teambuilding or family building event. Everyone gets involved, even the kiddos. Completed 1 in time...the other we were right at the end. So we have a score to settle! We are already in talks to do another one. My dispute has now been resolved in my favor so I am happy to leave a review for this company over an incident that occurred late this summer. My friends and I all booked the Wonka room on a random evening. All of us have done rooms, some in the hundreds. While we did intend to book it private, we were pretty sure there was an error with the checkout software as we always book private, we totally understood when they showed us the confirmation page that other people would be joining us. In fact while we initially weren't in love with the idea, once we started talking to the people who also showed up for the room, we were super excited. They seemed really cool and had done rooms before and this was going to be fun. We did have a slight worry because between the two groups it was going to be well over 10 people and having done as I said hundreds of rooms that just seemed like a lot of people to put into a small space, particularly if it's not one big room but several small ones. Also didn't have the greatest feeling because the hallway we were getting our instructions in was very small and did not seem like it was up to code (we were not yet in the room nor is the hallway part of the theme) The game guide was super nice to let us look briefly at the room and it was just way too small. I understand the point is to move forward but spending any sort of time with 10 people with 10 different ideas trying to move ahead was not our agenda that night. So we checked with the game guide and there was a whole other room available and we thought great, we can do this room they can do that room and we're all set. The game guide then went and called the owner/manager to get the approval and that's where it went downhill. Unfortunately the game guide was not providing all the information as to what we were saying and made it sound like we were angry and wanted our money back etc and that couldn't have been farther from the truth. It was in fact the game guide who had mentioned the other rooms at that location and we were merely taking this as a good idea. The owner was put on speaker phone and began immediately to yell at us and criticize us. I won't go into details on that but the most absurd thing was that they said that by moving to a different room that was then making both rooms private which meant that both groups would have to pay extra fees. Now look, there's literally no reason to make us pay extra considering we are all there, the room is about to start etc, but the group that had quite literally nothing to do with this, who showed up and thought they were just doing a room with strangers and had no issues doing it etc we're going to be forced to pay an extra fee because we decided to do a different room after the game guides recommendation? That's insanity. It's also fraud. I tried reasoning with the screaming owner through speakerphone and explaining that we were not unhappy and had found an easy solve but they continued to yell more and then eventually hung up on us mid conversation with the game guide's arm stretched out holding the phone. This was the point where we did not feel it was appropriate to do this room as we did not want to support a business owner like that as well as force another group to pay extra money for absolutely no reason nor should we all cram into a room which most definitely is not rated for that many people by the fire department. (And it turns out, dear readers, it's not.) This was late August. I decided a few days later to reach out to the owners once again after things had calmed down to seek a refund. At first there was actually a bit of sincerity from the other owner who offered us a credit but unfortunately I was just visiting and would be unable to use it. Once I informed them of that, the conversation went sideways once again into a series of attacks and blatant false observations and by mid-September I had decided to file a charge back with my card provider. Due to the state of the world that obviously took a while but they did resolve everything in my favor which I'm very happy about. I do truly hope they have cleaned up their act and this story did and will serve as a better opportunity for them to show proper customer service and not nickel and dime people. Clearly the owner had some anger issues that evening and while I was thankful for the other one being a bit more sympathetic to the issue, it is a shame that I had to go through a third party to rectify. Based on the themes of the company, I would absolutely love to return again, but never in my right consciousness would I ever recommend this to anyone after our experience. We tried very hard to do a room there and then a different room etc but It wasn't in the cards. A follow-up report after checking with the fire department and an examination of the fire code has shown that an investigation is planned / underway and the room itself should not be rated for that many people. read more

Booked a kids party here. The location was switched and that was not made clear to me until we showed up the day of the party. Had to let everyone know and try to communicate to everyone who driving from 25 min away. That should have been made explicitly clear upon booking. The location the escape game was changed to was an old empty office space above a bar. Could not have been more of a dump. No doubt in my mind that I saw mouse droppings in the corner of one room. It's basically a ton of lock boxes thrown on folding tables that they are promoting as a party venue. This was a kids party - not a frat get together. The two guys 'conducting' the party were nice enough but zero sense of 'party' to their hosting. I had to bring the pizza delivery guy to them to sign for the delivery. I had to help bring all the lock boxes into a disgusting storage room (likely the Taj Mahal for said mice.) We didn't have enough time for the extra games so that was a bust. Don't don't don't book this for a kid's party. Couldn't have been more disappointed or disgusted. I have nothing but regret in booking my daughter's birthday party there. Went with spouse to the Wonka room. We are escape game enthusiasts as this was our 122nd room. For this price (30% more than we have ever spent) we expected *much* more. Room desperately needs to be remodeled and upgraded. Cracked paint, broken locks, rickety drawers and other low quality parts. Minimal technology used. The clues are obtuse and some of the visual ones are indecipherable due to age and disrepair. The only positive was the game master. She was nice and professional. read more

DISAPPOINTMENT!! Do NOT waste your money. Our family of 5 tried this 1 hr escape room for $225 and while the concept was very cool they failed to execute it probably leaving us completely disappointment and frustrated. Gamemaster failed to give us proper directions and help when the equipment was faulty (broken locks and wires) and this made it a complete waste of our time. It was SO hot in the rooms and I kept asking for AC to be turned on. In the second room I noticed window AC units and asked if I could turn it on. Why weren't the rooms cool on a hot 85 degree afternoon?? We spent time on clues unnecessarily that were Red Hearings. "Before you begin"...we tried this clue for long while and believed it was necessarily to begin the challenge!!!! Gamemaster told us at the end it wasn't necessary to advance?! Locks didn't function properly (kept trying and trying with the clue "teapot") and the Gamemaster never chimed in and we couldn't move on, despite solving the clue! Why wasn't the Gamemaster paying attention. One clue was (out the window and across the street) and it was hidden by scaffolding!! We kept trying over and over to figure it out as the clock ticked on, but the sign and place being referenced was NOT visible because the store front had scaffolding in front of it. At the end we asked to see the remaining rooms and we weren't allowed. This made my kids (12, 9, 7) extremely disappointed. We expected a great "experience" and a nice family challenged. My friends and I are avid Escape Room junkies. This was our 17th Escape Room! The 4 of us booked this room 45 minutes before our time slot. It was a last minute decision and the customer service was great. We live about 45 minutes away and were going to be 10 minutes late. They were very accommodating since we were the last group of the night, so we greatly appreciated it! So to start, we are a fan of multiple room escape rooms. This is only one room. This wasn't a turn off, just a personal preference. CONS: Puzzles are confusing at points. There were some puzzles which we wouldn't have known how to solve if it wasn't for our game master. There were also a lot of directional locks, switching some of them out for number locks would have been a nice change of pace. The big con which thankfully we didn't run into was that this room holds 18 people. This room is decently sized for maybe 6-8 people but 18 people would be claustrophobic and probably not enough for everyone to do something. PROS: The design of the room is well done and some of the puzzles were things we've never seen before which caught our interest. Our game master Laura was super helpful and very friendly! Overall, while it was confusing at points, our game master Laura was super helpful and fair! We enjoyed this room, had great customer service, and escaped! We will probably do their other room and the one in Pompton Lakes due to the good reviews we read. read more

Awesome! That's the only word I have to describe it. I've been to this company's games in Hackensack and really enjoy both of them. Although it's a bit of a ride for us to Madison I was sure that if I convince my friends to go they would love it. There was 8 of us in all and only 3 of us have been to Escape Rooms before. As a side note if you've never been to Madison it's a really cool little town. We got there early and grabbed the drink at a place called main 54. It's just a fun little town to walk around and kind of like Ridgewood in Bergen County. So the game we played was called The Lost Cabin. They always tell you not to give anything, so i can only say so much but it's really cool, looks amazing, has some of the most high-tech stuff I have ever seen in an escape room. We didn't get out but they said we made it 70% of the way through the game. It was tough, but really fun. We chose not to find out the end but do Redemption instead. Its a unique offer that this company has (I haven't come across it at any other escape rooms yet) in which they let you have another shot at the game at half price if you'd like to do so. I beat their S.W.A.T. game in the Hackensack location using Redemption (another great game!) So get there early as you can check out the town and bring the crew as it's a really great Escape Room game, a total find! Definitely add this to your list of Escape Room list of games that you must do! read more

The game was challenging, however from the youngest to the oldest, everyone was actively participating and got to solve different clues. We've been to a lot of escape rooms. A lot of escape rooms. Some of been good, some have been great, a few have been terrible. This is certainly one of the better ones. You can tell that because if you are on yelp you know what five stars means. We just finished this room an hour ago and the puzzles were fresh and original. We did king Arthur's room which was a new type of room for us. The fact that it was dimly lit added to the challenges. The puzzles were tough but made sense. Some things we figured out before we should have so maybe there's some mechanical errors and a few things that didn't work correctly but that happens sometimes. Lots of cool authentic designs. I have been to some escape rooms that give off the vibe that the establishment went dumpster diving for furniture and made the room out of what they found. This was not the case here. The room was well made with great interactions and a good story. The right amount of challenge for the puzzles and the game master was very nice and helpful in making the experience a great one. It's clean and organized and what I liked best was the variety and level of difficulty of the puzzles - they were appropriate for everyone; not easy at all but not practically impossible either. I have been to three different escape room locations in the past and thoroughly enjoyed each one. However, my fiancé and I did King Arthur's Castle at Escape Room, Madison this evening and we left feeling less than satisfied. Though the game master was wonderful and game setup was incredibly detailed, the room felt overbooked at 17 people - yes, you read that right. Unfortunately, having 17 total people in the room caused a lot of chaos and confusion as to what others have already tried and left at least five of us doing essentially nothing for the game. Some were idle to the point of wondering aimlessly around the room or goofing off by dancing instead of playing the game. For the price of $30+ per ticket, I hoped to be able to be more involved in the game with fewer players in the room. Very disappointing and I will not be returning to this location. read more

Not our first escape room. This room was not just hard, the clues were not always logical. Many clues were supposed to be used to open the combination locks, but the locks were not next to clues nor was it obvious that a look up, look down clue referred to a lock not close to the clue! Would not recommend.(We did the Lost Cabin). We also paid for a private room and would have loved extra time. Noone else was booked after us for that specific room, and we did not require clue help as we used all of our clues, so a few more minutes would have been a nice touch. read more

While we wanted to enjoy the room, we had a pretty horrible experience due the other players/strangers in the room. We were beyond disappointed to say the least--as one of the other guests we shared the room with, literally ripped clues out of our respective hands, and took over the gaming process--simply only letting her group play. I think that it is CRITICAL for any prospective patron to note that, if and when rooms are booked- with 10 people in a particular group, get an EXCLUSIVE gaming experience; **insist on being rebooked or get your money back! To have paid for 10 people, and then not participate at all in the game, was a horrible experience for our entire group. If anyone would watch the video from our game, they would see our group start with enthusiasm then end up standing around with folded arms in anger as we were excluded from our ability to play--with no help from management. We all love escape room games. This purchase(a birthday present for my friend) was a complete waste of money and we all walked away with extreme disappointment surrounding the events of last night's game. I only wish that we could have shared in a true collaborative gaming experience. I wrote to the company directly to reflect on my disappointment and received an email of excuses (i.e. change the game type--after we booked, or time), without a critical series of words "I am sorry for your experience". What a misstep on the part of their customer service. I am a disappointed patron with a suggestion for you as new customers: go elsewhere to spend your money. read more

This place is cute but there were some flaws. Our game starter first told us that anything on the walls or ceiling with a little sticker on them was not part of the game. Fair enough because you don't want people ripping fixtures off the walls. However there were six oversized Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling, blue and green and yellow and white. No stickers on them, so I'm spending time looking at them and not figuring anything out. After the game, the game starter told us that those used to be a clue but something broke so it was removed from the game or something. She should have put stickers on them but she's too short to reach them even with a "ladder". Honestly, one of the laziest excuses I've ever heard for not getting something done. These lights aren't handing from the ceiling of Notre Frigging Dame Cathedral, they're about 9 feet up in the air. Get some damn stickers on those things. Also they had some goofy swords that once you touch them get all out of order and make it impossible to figure out what the order is supposed to be. There should be a more fixed-place clue used instead of this. Let's get the work ethic back into the Madison gaming community please, and then this place could be 5-star. read more

I didn't understand how the payments worked and after I tried clarifying things with him he turned around and started to give me such an attitude. I wish I could remembers his name so I could specifically single him out. I really wish I could give this place a good review. I like that their rooms are multi room, animated games. However, the puzzles don't always work. I wouldn't mind that much if the staff wasn't so rude and obnoxious. I rented a room in the Madison location for a birthday party and the woman working there started out her speech by rudely yelling at the kids and threatening to kick them out at any point if she decided that she didn't like them. She repeatedly threatened to overcharge my credit card in her introductory speech and proceeded to shout at the kids when they asked for clues. I could understand that dealing with a group of 12 year old boys may not be an escape room worker's top choice for customers, but she didn't bother to even give them a chance before she started screaming and threatening them. Further, we booked the whole room at a 5:30 time when it was completely empty. They may have been a bit loud, but they weren't disturbing anyone. I will not return and would not recommend this to anyone. read more

It was ok. Shane was our game master and he was awesome. He had excellent customer service, and made sure we had a good time. He's the reason we enjoyed the room. We did King Arthur and it was disappointing. After doing their awakened room in pompton lakes I was disappointed with this one. It was only 1 room which doesn't take away stars, it's the fact they didn't use it to its potential. I've done a bunch of rooms, and this wasn't the best. You work to open 3 main cabinets, then are met with 7 directional locks on different cabinets. (The worst kind of lock) you have to use things around the room to open each lock. There is no flow, just going back and referencing the main room for cheeky things. (No spoilers) every once in a while you get a paper from a cabinet to help you later on, but majority is from looking around the room trying to find things, and you need to use your clues just for a kick start since it's the same room with minimal flow. The room limit is 14, which would be ridiculous. We had a group of 4 and didn't make it with only a little more to go. If we had 10 more people there would be nothing to do at points and the game is too short for that many people racing through. Overall I wouldn't recommend this specific room from this company. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. I have done 8 or 9 escape rooms before with several different companies in NYC, but this blew them all out of the water. The attention to detail, puzzles, and just overall concept were astounding. I was floored at how awesome it was!!! I would highly recommend for just the room experience alone, but the whole thing is made even better by the amazing manager Shane. He's not only an excellent game master, but is also as excited by escape the rooms as you will be if you aren't already!!! read more

The Lost Souls Cabin was my third escape room, and by far the hardest and most varied. There were things that I would never have imagined could be done to release a lock! Very detailed, extremely engaging and entertaining! I would recommend a larger group if you want success, but that's just my personal opinion, especially since I see of the three successful groups so far one had only six people! Fun way to spend an hour (felt like it both flew by and we were in There forever!), definitely plan to decompress and debrief with your group afterwards with a drink at a local bar or some ice cream! read more

You have to try it! This was such a fun time. First experience with an escape room and I really didn't know what to expect. We did The Lost Cabin...It was me and 5 kids, ages 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13. They had a blast and really got into it..I was amazed at their analytical thinking and frankly I think we did better than if it had been all adults! The place is very nice and well run...Shane is great and made it really enjoyable for us first-timers. We are definitely going back when the second theme room is ready in February! I can see that a bigger group may give you a better chance of finishing, as long as you work together. read more
