This was our 2nd time at Escape Garden State, but this time with our two younger ones. We did Boardwalk which had lots of arcade game-focused puzzles which were challenging, but yet not too hard. The staff was great and timely with the hints. It looks like they expanded their physical space since the pandemic as well. Definitely check them out!

Loved my experience at Escape Garden State! We did the 2 person private room for the Power Surge escape room (recommended for 2, some others are more recommended for larger groups) and it was sooo fun! It was challenging in the best way! Required teamwork and communication. Will be returning to try the other rooms!! Definitely recommend for a fun activity with loved ones.

We visited Escape Garden State for my dad's birthday! It was our first time trying an escape room and we had such a great time!! We did the Power Surge room and made it out with only 19 seconds to spare lol. Our game master Stefanie was the best, she gave us plenty of needed hints and made the experience all the more fun. Already looking forward to visiting again!!

Came here for a team building work thing. It was just as good, if not better than an Escape Room in NYC. The rooms here are themed after NJ, and we ended up doing a room themed after Thomas Edison. It was challenging, as well as interesting. The puzzles are well thought out and the hints given are well timed. We got a Groupon, so it was pretty cheap too. They could use signs to better guide to their location though, I spent about 20 minutes driving circles around the parking lot after my GPS got me there. Hint: it's all the way in the back.

    Timer for mafia blackout room

My bf and I went to do the mafia blackout room the other day (during covid). I called to inquired and they highly suggested at least a minimum group of 4 for this room since it's highest on the difficulty ranking. We both did a fair share of escape rooms before and went ahead and booked it anyway. But with covid, there's a minimum cost of 4 people in order to book the room (which is fair). The location and workers there had implemented several safe measures to protect from covid, I really appreciated it! About the room, the environment and decoration were on theme! Everything was decorated nicely and very immersive. I had a great time with the puzzles and they were multi-layered. None of them were super straightforward and they were definitely creative and difficult. Without giving any spoilers, I wanted to say the puzzles were well incorporated into the story and theme. We had to use a lot of hints/tips the game masters gave us to get out merely 3 seconds ahead. Highly recommend this place. I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of the rooms they have.

This was an impromptu trip that ended up being a lot of fun. We gave them a call to see if they'd have availability in 30 minutes and they did. We did the Mafia room which was their hardest but still a lot of fun. There were 4 of us and we only had a a few steps left when the time ran out. It was very well thought out and creative with a lot of satisfying twists. The boardwalk room, we were told, is more physical with games etc. They said they plan to open up a new room this upcoming summer. Definitely recommend trying this out for an hour of puzzles and fun.

The room we did, Power Surge, was challenging enough, & the help we received from Matt was just the right amount.

A great escape room at a great price! It is definitely made with love. We did the immersive actor…read moreexperience called Raven Guild. It was very very spooky. The puzzles are solid. And the host are amazing. The live actor has an extra element that you don't get in the traditional escape room. Go support these guys their local and they're super cool.

Disappointed. For $44/person, it was very underwhelming. This was probably our 15th escape room…read more.. and it was our least favorite and the most we've ever paid for one. 1) They allow up to 15 people to do one room. But since the entire escape room has to be in sequential order, there's only 1 puzzle that can be worked on at a time. Only about 4 people could work on it and everyone else just had to stand around. If they're going to allow that many people, more puzzles to solve at one time is a must or it gets boring for everyone else. Too linear for such a large group. 2) The clues were not very creative, most of the time the code was written right next to it. There are more creative ways with that many people to gather clues for the codes. 3) Clues were smeared which need to be updated so you can actually read it. 4) It was so hot in there! And I'm usually cold every where I go for reference. 5) When a door would unlock there was no sound or indication it was open which was frustrating because we were doing the right thing waiting for a door to open but no idea when it finally opened. A sound effect would be nice. 6) Speakers need to be updated, they were blaring and hard to hear 7) The tips given were what we had already solved 8) No countdown clock to know how much time we had left. 9) No signs or place to do a photo op at the end. Usually these places have signs you can hold up like "we escaped" in x amount of time. Typically the employee will take a photo and make it fun. If it were $20/person I think I'd be less irritated. It was the probably the largest escape room I've ever seen. Could easily split the room in half, and offer more escape rooms with less people in each. Basically just 1 puzzle per room felt like wasted real estate. Could have been so much cooler with the size of their escape room. Our group of 6 left not saying much. Any time I've gone with groups people are talking about how fun it was. It was just an awkward exit.

On 10/17/25, we visited the Brighton Asylum for a "Spooktacular Evening!"…read more (The facility was an actual Mental Asylum back in the 1940's). You can either purchase tickets online or right at the place. The basic tickets were $60 each. However, the closer you get to Halloween, the ticket prices go up. Upon entry to the Brighton Asylum, there are several people outside, directing you to parking. We went through 3 very cool and fun haunted houses. Actors are dressed in scary costumes. They try to scare you, but will direct you through the haunted house. Visibility can be a little tricky in some areas of the houses. The house has several exits, in case you've "just had enough". It took approximately 1 1/2 hours for the entire visit. Just some cautions for those who have any type of limitations. In one house, there's at least two tunnels you really have to "bend over" and walk through at least 10 to 12 steps. In another house, there's at least three long flights of steps to climb up and down. The facility does have some extras like ax throwing and an escape room which will cost extra money. Definitely recommend the Brighton Asylum for a fun evening! The Brighton Asylum is located at 2 Brighton Rd. off of Van Houten Ave. in the back area. A gift shop is available with Brighton Asylum Tee Shirts. Porta John's are available on the premises.

I recommend getting the fast pass because the wait can be long especially closer to Halloween. They also had a Horror film museum with replicas of the outfits worn in the movies. Definitely a must try
