Had a great time! We did the 'Dig' puzzle with a group of 7 and was able to get out with 15 minutes to spare. Shoutout to Arianna who did a great job checking us in and getting us started, and she might have had to give us a few clues. Great activity for the family or a group of friends. My daughter, like most tweens, loves a good Escape Room. She's also a big fan of Oak Brook mall so after we did a bunch of the other kid friendly activities (Sandbox VR, Immersive Gamebox, Putt Shack), we reserved an Escape Room for more fun. I was kind of hoping to let her and her friend do the Escape Room on their own and get some shopping time (worked out well at Sandbox VR and Immersive Gamebox). However, an adult needs to be present if the kids are under 14 years old. Escape Rooms booked Friday evenings, Sat and Sun also require a minimum of 4 people which meant I had to purchase 4 spots for the 3 of us. I called before booking to see which room was recommended for 6th graders and they told me to book The Theater. And so I did. It was my first Escape Room in many years and a lot of fun. The 6th graders definitely were better at it than I was, but i"d like to think I provided some help along the way. We did have to get a bunch of hints throughout the hour (props to anyone who can do this without hints!), but ended up finishing with just a few minutes to spare...phew! My daughter and her friend agreed it was the perfect amount of challenge for them and super fun...and have asked to go back for more Escape Room fun! read more

I didn't think I would like Escape rooms but I was pleasantly surprised. They have different levels of rooms. I guess the dig room is one of the easier ones. Even with that I felt it was a challenge for our group of 7. You can ask for clues if you get stuck. I definitely recommend getting a clue as it's hard to solve a few of them without it. You have 60 minutes to get out of the room. Great for friend groups or co workers. read more

That. Was. Amazing! This place is crazy tech-heavy. We did the South Park Escape room and it was the best one I've ever done! Comedy Central made it and so it had video clips with some of the characters and correct voices. It was amazing. I'm not supposed to talk much about the room so I won't but I was really really really impressed. There were multiple rooms to go into and lots of things to interact with. It really does feel like you're in the show. If you need clues and hints they will help you to a point. We were with a group who had never done an escape room before so it was a fun new experience for them. My husband was most impressed with how tech heavy the room was but again I can't really talk much about it without giving things away. I was pleased by how much there was to do. With 8 of us in there, we all had plenty of clues to play around with in order to solve the puzzles. There were some parts I literally had nothing to do with as I was involved with solving a completely different part. It was pretty cool. Sadly, we did not escape. But if we find ourselves in the area again ever I will be sure to book us here in one of the other nerdy rooms. read more

The rooms don't have logic. We wasted 30 minutes trying to figure a code from a set of five numbers and five colors and when we asked the worker how we were supposed to get the code they said "You're supposed know to ignore one of the colors". When I asked how we're supposed to figure that out, they said "you just have to know there's only four numbers, not five". When i asked where we're supposed to figure that information from they said, "You're just supposed to think of it." read more

Awful experience and did not enjoy the room. Second bad experience here, and we should have learned the first time. This time the game master was very misleading and told us not to look in an area where there were several clues, purely because she couldn't be bothered to put it back together after we did the room. Will never ever be coming back and do not recommend. It really took away from us enjoying the room regardless if we could escape as we have done escape rooms with other businesses that we enjoyed and will be sticking to those. read more

It was definitely not the experience I expected. This was for a birthday for my son. When you walk in, it's just like a ghost town no welcome, nobody getting you excited no energy. The explanation of rules before going into the room felt rushed and again, no motivation. One thing they said was that we needed a clue to use the walkie and they would help us. We eventually had to use the walkie and when we did, it wasn't a good connection we couldn't hear the girl (Ariana) that well and when we ask her to repeat, there was dead silence for a while, so therefore, our time kept going without any help like they had promised. This was our first experience with an escape room and it was not good at all. To pay as much as we did experience should've been a lot better. This place needs to focus on getting each group hyped up before going to the room, explain slowly, the rules, and be available as promised when the group needs clues. Very poor customer service and it wasn't that exciting. Oh yeah, it's winter and they had no place for us to put her jacket so we were just hot in the escape rooms trying to play the game. So uncomfortable. They couldn't even offer a place to put our jackets. read more

This was my first escape room. It was also my sister and our friends first time. We told the employee that as well and asked for the second easiest escape room. He wasn't super helpful, as we all thought we had to solve things sequentially. We got stuck on a puzzle for the first 30 min until he finally chimed in with a clue to move on. What a waste of time! We had no idea! He started helping us more after that but after going to a second escape room tonight at a diff location- I see that the employee at the oakbrook location could have been better. The rooms were very nicely decorated and the diff types of activities were fun. It was extremely difficult for us first timers tho- we did not make it. The rooms are really cool looking and very spacious, which is awesome. Definitely has some cool things in their rooms but the more high tech and cool the things are, the more that can break or not work properly. Have been here twice now, 2 different rooms, and each had similar issue of cool stuff but just doesn't work properly. Simpler rooms aren't as cool looking but they are better. My husband and I were meeting another couple at the ETR location. Unfortunately, we rarely go to Oakbrook Mall and had absolutely no idea where this place was. We looked at the website, the email waiver, iPhone maps, and Google and found ZERO information on where the location was in mall or what anchor store was the closest. We ended up being 15 minutes late (after the timer started). (By the old McDonald's location/lower level by the AMC entrance/Champs anchor store/ between the two parking garages) We booked "The Dig" and it was fun. Even though we were late and only had 45 minutes to play, we got up to the very last clue. Even the employee was impressed of how far we got despite starting late. They few negatives of the experience were 1. The room(s) was incredibly hot. They need to pump the AC. 2. The employee who walked us to the room spoke so fast when giving the directions. 3. Seemed a little unprofessional that the employees weren't wearing a ETR logo shirt or anything to signify they worked there. It was hard to take them seriously when they looked like the ragamuffins. read more

My group of 3 joined two other small groups last minute and did the Jurassic themed room. We had a blast. The rooms were so creative and filled with tasks. We managed to escape with 45 seconds to spare. It was pretty challenging but we managed to escape with the help of the whole team and a worker giving clues. Arianna helped prepare us for the escape room and was really nice. I highly recommend coming; hope you can escape too! read more

This place is pretty fun! You reserve online and they're open groups for any individuals to join, so if you have a fairly big group plan ahead of time. We were checked in and had filled out info to receive a complimentary photo at the end of your experience. I was with 3 other friends along with another group of 4 working together in the escape room. We did the Cartman theme escape room, which was pretty fun! We did wish we had more assistance from the clue master that talked you through some things if you needed help since a lot of the clues we found were pretty challenging. Such a fun and tense experience! My anxiety was in overload... but it was an amazing time! I recommend at least 4 people. The room is designed well and you will never have a dull moment. They have a variety of room options. We chose the one that reminded me of Indiana Jones movies. We worked together and escaped with 2 seconds remaining. No picture taking allowed in the rooms. The facility is clean. The staff is helpful and goes over the expectations throughly. It's family friendly. You will have fun no matter the age! I would suggest sneakers, no heels. I have never made a Yelp review, but my experience with this location has been the absolute worst. Last week on Tuesday, I booked a room for 12:00pm on Saturday for 5 people. My total came out to $170. When I showed up with my group on Saturday, there were no employees here. My party arrived 30 minutes early, and proceeded to waste the next hour waiting for someone to show up. I tried calling the number provided on their door and website. It seems to be linked to inside the business, in which no one is at. Seeing that their policy is that they don't offer refunds, I was completely ripped off of my money. DO NOT BOOK HERE. Really challenging and detailed rooms. We did the Jurassic park themed room and it was so much fun. The clue masters are just the right amount of helpful. We went as a group of three 2 kids and 1 adult). Price was expensive, but the kids had a blast so that makes it worth it. Look forward to making it back again one day. read more

Went with a group of 5 for an 8:20 pm room yesterday and didn't get started until 8:50. Then, when we went in the room, the timer had already gone to 45 minutes left instead of an hour because they started us late. The manager girl (glasses, brunette) comes over, and has the audacity to say to us that she'll check to see if there's a group after us to see if we can play for the full hour. Zero apologetic attitude whatsoever. Imagine telling paying customers who were waiting for half an hour that they may not even get reset because of the next group. We then ask if a refund is possible in case we don't get the full hour, and she quickly says she'll just give us the hour and proceeds to slam the escape room door in our face. She definitely has zero customer service experience or is just intellectually challenged, I'm not sure if she's fit to be a manager at any type of establishment. We did beat the escape room though, and the operator guy for our room was fine. read more

Game master took forever to give clues which in turn led to our not escaping. Having done over 30 escape rooms where game masters usually walk you through the last room (literally one puzzle away), our game master said it was "policy". I think it was just an excuse honestly. Money grab for sure. Staff did not leave me with the warm and fuzzies. Had a much better experience at the Glendale, CA location. But we left with a "complimentary photo"... whomp whomp. read more

Worst Experience of My Life! To begin, we were rushed into the room without instructions or the storyline explained. The staff was atrocious. And that's an understatement. Even though we arrived on time, and we were late getting into the room due to the staff, they started our 1 hour timer before we even entered the room. We never were able to be immersed into the story as they yelled at us over the speaker because they were thought we cheated and when we proved we didn't cheat they put us on "high surveillance." As the rules were never explained to us we were unaware of the no photo rule. When a member of my group took a selfie, that didn't not show any of the room, the flood lights were turned on and the entire game was disabled without warning by the staff. All I can say is never attend this place and I hope the staff (specifically the 19 year old boy with purple hair) is fired. The guy with purple hair and butterfly necklaces (he refused to give his name) was the most rude employee I ever had the displeasure of encountering. Wanna do an escape room? Then go HERE! You won't be disappointed. This is only the second escape room I've ever done but this one was leaps and bounds above the other place I went. The other seemed like a cheap knock off you might find in the Dells. This place had amazing production values and the props really sold the experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The clues and puzzles made sense and I think anyone has at least half a chance of figuring things out. I did the clock room and I loved it. Can't wait to go back and try a different room. The only reason I don't give five stars is some of the props and parts of the room look well used and felt a bit grimy. Almost like they may not have been cleaned entirely well. And some of the props could be replaced or need a fresh coat of paint. But it didn't ruin the experience and these were small issues in my opinion. This was by far the worst escape room experience I've ever had!! I've completed over 30 escape rooms with reasonable amounts of hints but "the Agency" had tiny pieces that we easily overlooked in their storage places. Set was designed to look nice but our game master was way too cryptic and we didn't get the feeling that they wanted to help us escape. At the end he basically said you were close, get out. He stated their policy was to not show you what you missed. Can you say money grab?! What, are they expecting people to waste their money again and try to escape the same room? Game masters are normally rooting for you but these ones don't care. Safe to say I will never go back to an 'Escape the Room' location. The outside doesn't look like much and it is hidden in a corner of the mall. Even the lobby is well a lobby. However once you are in the room the fun begins. It is an experience for all to enjoy! Families, friends and we did it for team building at work. They were great at laying out the rules and helping us out when we needed a clue. Staff was friendly and wonderful to work with. Even as we literally had a last minute person join us they were able to get us in and going on time. Can't wait to try out more of their rooms! read more

Checked out Escape the Room on a moms and daughters night out, two moms and two 11-year old girls. We had another couple in the room with us, who might have been on a first date. I've done a lot of escape rooms, my daughter has done 7-8, but the others were first timers. The good: the rooms are very ornate with fancy, themed doors, lots of technology, unique types of clues and challenges, and a lot to keep everyone busy. The bad: the clues/challenges were not as "tight" as other escape rooms I've done. Maybe it was the use of all the tech, but a couple puzzles didn't work right when we solved them. We had to ask for a lot of hints, and then we would get hints for things we had already solved or hints that didnt really help us because the puzzle itself wasn't working. Overall we still had fun and we were able to escape with just seconds left! The girls really enjoyed it and we are already planning on another escape room with the rest of our families. read more

Yesterday went to Escape the Room at Oak Brook with myself and 4 friends, so 5 of us total for an 8:20 reservation that we made several hours in advance. We arrived at 8:20 on the dot but were told they weren't ready for us yet so we had to wait in the waiting room. Keep in mind they have a 15 minute grace period which they refer to on their website to which afterwards your reservation is lost and you won't get a refund. So after about 25 mins of waiting we decided to ask again to which their front desk representative went to go find out what was happening and came back to tell us they were cleaning and now they're ready. We finally got into our room at 8:50 , 30 minutes behind schedule and without an real explanation. As we were in the room we noticed the timer to keep track of how long you have to do the room was already started and used 15 mins of the 1 hour timer. We than asked why the timer started and if we could get our full time and they said they have reservations after us so we can't get the full time and the timer started on time it's not their fault we were late. We than proceeded to ask if we could just get a full refund since it already costs 40 dollars a person for the escape room and since we wouldn't get our full time we didn't want to waste money. The manger, who was probably a college student , proceeded to be offended and yell at us for asking for the refund and screamed fine we can have the full time and slammed the door in our face. This was my 3rd time ever at the escape room and I was appalled by the behavior of the employees and how they would treat a customer about asking for a refund. The manger was so rude and after that argument it killed the vibe so much I would never go back and would recommend you do another activity at Oakbrook instead. read more
