I've been visiting Eschen Automotive for years now for our standard oil change routine and it has never been a disappointing experience. The staff here are professional, personable and caring. I completely support Eschen Automotive for car care, especially if you own an Asian import, which is what they specialize in. This small, family-run business is located in the Wilburton neighborhood of Bellevue in a small business complex. They're only open during the weekdays from 8am-5pm, and appointments fill up quickly. I usually call and make an appointment and am able to be scheduled on a day and time that works best for me, which is always nice. The oil change usually takes an hour, and I recommend bring a check or cash for payment as there is a 3% credit card charge. You don't have to stay for the oil change, but they have seats if you plan to hang out. PLUS, there's Rosie! Rosie is the owner's dog and hangs out at the shop. She is super sweet. The owner always lets me bring my dog into the shop, too, allowing my dog to sit up on the chair. Best staff ever! Wasn't what I remembered. I had my old sienna minivan serviced here a couple times about 10 years ago; the work back then was fine. I recently took them my 2017 Honda Pilot to have the timing belt service down, they were about 10% cheaper than the dealership. When my wife went to pickup the car it it was a couple hundred more than the estimate. When she asked it turned out they under quoted the labor and had the wrong parts on the estimate. They also didn't do the cam seals that were on the estimate. I called a couple times and they refunded about 1/2 of the difference between the estimate and the bill. Their position was that an estimate was close enough. I expected them to stick to their estimate just like a dealership would for service, but I guess that's not how this shop works. You're better off sticking with the dealership for service. read more

The AC system in my 2017 Chevy Silverado recently sprung a leak. Being recently unemployed I chose to do the repairs myself. Only problem I'd need the AC evacuated and later recharged. I was referred to Eschen and they agreed to do the evacuation and recharge, but here is where things get interesting. How many times have I gone to a repair shop and never seen or even talked to the actual mechanic? Every time. I met Alex right away. Had a nice conversation with him about my needs, my plan and how he could help me achieve my goals. He was friendly and supportive of my plan. Everything went off without a hitch. I dropped the truck off on Thursday morning for the evacuation. I got it back later that morning. I was able to replace the hoses and condenser myself and brought it back the next morning. I was blissfully driving again in frigid comfort by 10 am. read more

Sorry I ever found this place, and curse all thos people writing positive reviews that made me try it in the first place! Have been taking my car in for a while, and each time ask them to look it over and suggest repairs, and each time they said everything looks fine (it's an old car). Asked them to rotate tires, check brakes, etc. Each time drove off and something was off after; like they were supposed to check everything! They kept making me bring it in again and again, charging me each time. I finally got annoyed when they told me that even though I was describing the problem, THEY couldn't replicate it, so IT DOESN'T EXIST! Really? Found all sorts of stuff online that would explain what was happening. When I finally blew up, they told me in a surly manner that if I didn't trust them, I should take the car elsewhere...which I did, and not only did it get fixed, but they found all sorts of dangerous problems that had been overlooked, including shredded belts, a leaking radiator, and worn brake pads! Other stuff, too! I really don't think they know WHAT they are doing; maybe the previous staff or the original owner had a knack for this, but no more. I should have turned around the first, second, or third time the guy greeted me with bloodshot eyes and a conversation that made no sense. I visit today for the first time, and my experience at this shop was AWESOME!!!!! I normally don't write reviews and neither that I trust mechanics.. the guys that work there are very kind and know what they doing!! Many places don't know how to work in a Mini Cooper and if they do they over charge. I wasn't over charged which is normally what happens when you take the car into a mechanic and that's why I used to only go to ONE mechanic but he moved and now is too far for me. I am giving one star because I bring my vehicle here for oil change right after getting it from Nissan Bellevue and right after oil change, the body get damaged, they claim no responsible for that. The entire body was nice and clean, after the oil change I saw there is a pretty new scratch on my trunk, they said they don't touch part, I don't have any evidence and regret not taking a picture before sending my vehicle in. Called today to make an appt as my car was making a weird sound. They said to just stop on by and that they were flexible. Stopped by this afternoon and the mechanic was super nice, called us back quickly, tightened our lugs (which is what was wrong), gave us advice, and sent us on our way. It was just super refreshing to give the keys to an authentic person, who took a few minutes to explain things to us and give advice. Will be coming back for further service. read more

Wow. I recently took my '08 Mazda in to get checked out, and was met with exceptional service, kindness and professionalism, and a great price. Since purchasing this used car a year ago, I've struggled with the overly loud engine and start-up commotion. At previous shops in California, they were suggesting around 2k-3k for the same thing (replacing the engine mounts) that these folks did here at Eschen, which ended up being around $500. Two snaps up with a twist! I found this place because I needed my A/C worked on and no one else was able to fix it on my 2005 Subaru. I originally chose this place because of all the good reviews. I didn't know at the time that the owner, Alex, was actually a neighbor of mine until he pointed that out. Anyway, my A/C got fixed and worked great all spring/summer and the price to fix it was decent. Although I've sold that Subaru I know that Eschen guarantee's their work for 18 months. Unfortunately, I have a five year warranty on my new Acura but after that, I'm coming back to Eschen Automotive. If you like big dogs, you'll like this place also. This place has been amazing to me. First time I took my boyfriends car in with a headlight out. He broke the bracket trying to do it at home first. When I took it in someone literally spent a good 30mins or more just trying to fit it in and helped us get the new lightbulb in without replacing the bracket because that would of costs a lot more. At the end of all that time they literally only charged us $10 and did us a favor. Second time my headlight was out took it in, literally took 2 minutes to change. Wouldn't accept a form of payment. Told me to recommend this place and bring him real work when my car needs it. So here I am recommending everyone I know and writing an awesome review. This place reminded me a lot of growing up in my parents auto repair shop. Small shop, hole in the wall, but real genuine people. I've been a customer for a year. These guys have really treated me right with two different cars. I just wish they worked on non-Japanese cars too, but I appreciate knowing what you're good at. I had them do a used car check, which was super-affordable peace of mind. I had them track down a fuse in that same car (missing from the diagram in the manual). They only charged me 20 bucks. It's like walking in to my older brother's shop and getting that good family treatment. Keep taking care of me like this and you've got a customer for life. Never going back. Took the car for a 60k inspection. They charged me 1000 dollars for that. They said they went through the whole car and found other things that's why it was so expensive. They also told me they found a chain problem and that fixing it would be 2500 dollars more. I said no. Took my car to a different place and they found that the headlights were broken. How did Eschen miss this after charging 1000 dollars? The other auto repair shop also found that the problem was not the chain but something else. Overall they are charging me 1200. So less than half of what Eschen was charging plus they are fixing things that Eschen missed. Ridiculous. Never going back to Eschen. read more

Brought my Toyota here once. I will definitely come back here again for any repairs. Brought my truck in for the 150k service to the Toyota dealer next to my house. They called with a HUGE list of emergency repairs that should be done immediately. Final bill - over 6000.00. Came here for a second opinion. As everyone suspected, the dealership was a joke. Some repairs were needed, but definitely not everything. These guys did a ton of great work for 1200.00. Saved me almost 5000.00 bringing my truck here. I know enough about cars to know when I'm getting screwed. I also know enough about them to know I'm useless at doing anything more than an oil change. And both of my Hondas are out of warranty. That's when a FAN-tabuloso independent garage comes into play. And Eschen Automotive is just what the doctor ordered when it comes to Japanese cars. The staff are friendly, the quality of work is amazing, they're incredibly honest (to the point of recommending cheaper ways to deal with issues whenever possible), and they will explain things to any level of technical detail you're comfortable with (good for us engineers). They even offer rides to/from work. My only complaint: they're only open half of the day on Friday, which is when I usually think of calling to make an appointment. read more

This is one of the few reasonably priced repair shops that I've found on the Eastside. I needed a C02 sensor replaced in a Mazda and called them up. "It should take about an hour" they said. $100 and 45 minites later, i was on my way with a fixed car. I came in without an appointment. They didn't charge me a diagnostic, though they could have, and the tech was able to determine the issue within 60 seconds. They ordered the part and it arrived within an hour. I was quoted just over $175, which was very reasonable. I petted on the shops four lazy dogs some, and went home to grab something to eat. Work was done very quickly and my total came to $100. I don't know if this was because it was a quick fix for them or just to be nice, but I was so happy to get everything taken care of within a few hours and for such a reasonable rate. I will definitely be back, as there is sure to be future issues with my beat up 2011 Nissan Sentra. read more

Direct, honest, good quality work. I know nothing about cars, so I'm one of those people that auto shops can make a lot of money off of. When I took my car in because I thought I needed new brakes, I was told: 1) You don't need new brakes; 2) you won't need new breaks on that car for at least another 25,000 miles; and 3) We double checked by contacting and chatting with the dealership who last serviced your car. They could have gouged me royally for a few hundred bucks, and I wouldn't have batted an eyelash. Because they were honest, they only got $130 today... but I *will* be back. read more
