You walk into this "mall of stores", and right after you pass the side of Mrs. Ma, you'll find it. I believe the lady with curly-ish hair and glasses might be the owner or person in charge. She seems to be the one who does the measuring for customers, and I really appreciate how quick their service is. They definitely know what they're doing! I was nervous about bringing in my nicer denim at first, so I tested them out with a pair of corduroy pants. It was $15 for a regular pants hem. The second time I went back, I brought in four pairs of denim, and they were $25 each for the original hem. They came out perfect. The thread they chose was almost exactly the same color and you can only notice a slight difference if you really stare at it up close. I'll definitely keep coming back here. I brought a cheap floor length trench coat to them and asked them to build me an inner lining so it would become slightly more wind proof. I knew it was going to be a challenging job since it would likely mean partially deconstructing/taking apart the jacket so the inner lining can be attached from the inside. Within 3 weeks worth of time, they had sewn in this beautiful silky satin lining with matching color. I wore it over my sweater and long sleeve shirt in a brisk afternoon, and sure enough having the extra lining completely helped! I also asked them to hem several pairs of thrift store pants with frayed edges. They did a beautiful job with picking out matching thread for hemline without significantly shortening the length. During my pick up I gave them additional jobs to repair several moth holes I discovered in a couple of wool items, including a beautiful tweed blanket I bought from Falkland Islands (I almost donated it). While I eagerly await to receive these items back I am confident that their work will continue to showcase the fine craftsmanship they always deliver. I cannot recommend this place enough! Their location is close to the Montgomery BART/MUNI station which is ideal esp if you're dropping off before or after work, coming from East Bay. The entrance is a bit hard to find but just make sure you ring the right door bell and they will buzz you in.

The lady owner, Karen, I believe, was her name, got going with fitting, measurements, she's very skillful and knew what she was doing. While there, picked up a few kiddie toy cars and stickers for my children. When I picked up my pants, she recognized me, greeted me warmly, and remembered my name. She's highly likable and funny. I had taken my prom dress back to Nordstrom twice for alterations to revive an old wardrobe item to wear for a wedding. They're my usual go-to spot because of free alterations associated with my Nordstrom Points account. The first time they didn't do the alteration as they were confused by my ask, the second time the manager took on my request but didn't tell me it was going to make my hem asymmetrical and look awful. Jenny was able to undo their work and get it back to looking normal, all while dealing with exceptionally delicate mesh/metallic fabric. I'm so glad to have found a local tailor that is within healing distance and can take on more challenging alterations that many tailors won't touch. I'm surprised some people say she doesn't speak great English, I had no challenges communicating with her and she understood every word I said no problem. Cash only, pay upon completion, and there isn't a reliable ATM nearby so make sure you come prepared during pickup!

A yelp search revealed nothing so I went to look for myself. I probably walked by this storefront two times before I finally saw the "Alterations" sign on the side of the entrance, half hidden by a stack of for sale items. The sign on front says "Discount Fabric" over the entrance. I walked in, saw the sewing machine and knew I had found it. I was greeted by the friendly store owner who peered at me over his glasses and jumped to attention when I told him I needed a pants hem. He spoke enough English to understand exactly what I wanted and let me know that my hidden hem would be more work than the standard and the pants would be ready the next day. In summary, I was extremely pleased with the work done on my pants for a more complicated hem, and only $8! I will definitely be back!

They denied the mistake when I brought the pants back to show them their oversight. I decided to give them a second chance, but this time they were extremely rude and seemed unsure about how to keep the original hem on a pair of jeans. They spoke in Chinese so I couldn't understand them, and I only learned what they were discussing through a translation app which was derogatory and not something I can even repeat in this space.
