I really enjoy their pizza but the service has gone far downhill. Pizza ordered early in the evening, everything seemed fine, the window for the delivery time passed and nothing showed up. Many people love Eskondida, its centrally located and its one of a few places in Merida that aim to serve New York style pizza. It's a challenge being in Merida for sure, the ingredients are hard to get consistently, I remember one time I couldn't find basil at Chedraui for over 6 weeks. So it's not an easy place to build a pizza empire, that much is true, but the owners here clearly care about quality and try to offer the best Merida can offer. The prices are not crazy but Merida is a very pizza heavy city so it's really about what are you looking for. I get the impression the decor is going for a New York pizza place, which is in theme. I've only been once and got spotty service, but Merida is certainly overall a bit hard to find long term teams with perfect service. For some folks, especially those looking for something that reminds them of NY style, this will be their spot. If you are into the New York style of pizza its worth a try, noting in advance its hard to replicate NY style outside NY. But if you are into Detroit, Chicago, Neopolitan, Sicilian, or other styles, just be aware this is shooting for NY style, not those other variants. read more

We ordered take out pizza and salad on a Monday night. Robert, the owner, is from Boston so has a pretty good knowledge of New York style pizza. We ordered a Greek salad that was full of fresh lettuce, feta cheese, olives, and cucumbers. The salad fed three people. Our mistake is we should have asked for more dressing. For our pizza we ordered the Mulberry. Thin crust with a good tomato sauce that was covered with pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, mushrooms, and onion. I've been ordering Pizza from these guys for the past year and can say that they are consistently the best pizza in Merida. The difference is their crust - It can be difficult in Mexico to find a Pizza with good crust due to the inferiority of Mexican wheat but these guys make their dough with the right ingredients. The kids wanted pizza for our last night it Merida, and this was one of the first places to open. The pizza left me very impressed. I spoke with the owner and he said he opened this pizzeria because he couldn't find decent pizza in Merida and "pizza is my food." Great hidden gem in Merida! Food was on point! As soon as we got there they offered us bug spray which I thought was so awesome for the fact that they have a roof top option to eat! Lol I got the chicken Alfredo pasta which was AMAAAZING super creamy and hot! Great portion size too! My boyfriend tried the Eskondida pizza which is the all meats pizza and his was sooo good too! Very very good pizza. Though I confess that I was hooked the moment I saw on their menu the caution that adding too many toppings to a pizza doesn't make it better. My wife and I picked up two medium pizzas for takeout -- and were very impressed by what we ate. The quality of the ingredients is apparent -- real, tasty Italian sausage, mozzarella, and a very good dough for the crust. The pizzas were perfectly cooked, the bottoms browned but not burned. The crust was very flavorful and the sauce was really excellent. As promised, there were just the right amount of toppings. The price was very fair: I'm willing to pay more for high quality like this. We really liked the vibe of the restaurant and the staff was exceptionally friendly. We rented a house close by and so we ate our pizza at home but would have lingered on the restaurant's upstairs deck on a breezy Sunday night. When we visited, the restaurant doesn't offer wine and beer, the only downside we could see. But they do offer home delivery! read more

Great roof top service. Nice breeze and good pizza. If you cannot decide what pizza to eat they do half and half for your order. Tasty pizza. Lemonade with chia is delicious and refreshing. Try and apply bug repellent if you eat outside to keep the mosquitos away. read more

Amazing thin crust New York style pizza made with fresh ingredients. AC in lower level restaurant area but we opted for the rooftop deck area which has only been open for one week. Great breeze upstairs under white rooftop covering which offers plenty shaded areas. Jose gave us awesome service and made us feel at home. He truly understands the meaning of custermer service. I can see his vision of this rooftop area which will only get better with time and his tender loving care. They also offer delivery after 4 pm. I know that he will do well. Our family of 6 went here the other night and the pizza was very good. You can taste the difference of excellent quality ingredients. Fresh tomato pizza sauce, real EVOO and real mozzarella (we have had some pizza here in Mexico where they put manchego on it- not good). We ate on the rooftop and there was a nice breeze coming through. We had half Hawaiian and half pepperoni. We much preferred the pepperoni. We came back a week and a half later to get takeout and ordered the Broadway. Excellent. It's expensive by Mexican standards. On par with what we pay for pizza in Indianapolis as a large will run about $14, but some of those ingredients are hard to come by locally so hence, you get what you pay for. We found this great place with good reviews here and decided to stop in. It is a Great Find! Fabulous pizza especially if you are a "foodie", great restaurant, good music and friendly and professional staff. We had 7 people in our group including one vegetarian and everyone loved the garlic bread, cheesy garlic bread and the 3 different types of pizza. In fact, we loved it so much we ordered again several nights later after a long day because they deliver. What a perfect day after seeing the ruins, but to have delicious dinner arrive at your door!
