One thing I learned from this experience was that valuable (whether monetarily or emotionally) jewellery should be checked every year or two for wear. They can rebuild or strengthen claws if it looks like they are going to jeopardise your stone - too late for me but maybe it will help you. They told me they recently honoured a gift voucher that was denominated in Irish punts (Ireland switched to the euro almost 20 years ago!) because they figured that even though they couldn't trace back the receipt of the money in their records they trusted the customer and reckoned they had already been paid more than fairly. I should also add that I can't resist haggling a bit whenever I am spending more than a couple of hundred euro (like my Dad before me!). They do that very naturally and good-naturedly.

It is the silver jewel range which Vivienne's have got in from Zinzi and I must say, it is modern, and pretty, and really bang on trend. Well, I got a gorgeous pair of silver jewel drop earrings for going out for €60 from the Zinzi range. Vivenne's Jewellers is one of two. They also have a store in Stillorgan Co Dublin, which is outside the city and they also stock the Zinzi range. The staff are friendly and helpful and you can pay for pieces week by week , once its paid off within 6 weeks. This, I find, is a great idea, as it makes it more feasable for people to pay off for that necklace, pair of earrings or bracelet that they mightn't otherwise be able to buy. Still, the diamonds are nicely cut, and settings are available in a broad selection of occasion styles. The shop offers sweet little earring sets for girls as well as dripping necklaces and big blingers frosting the front window. What I can't get over is the silence here. With a position that's practically at the Henry Street entrance, I'd expect a shop as open as Fields to be full or at least bustling, yet every time I walk by the floor is empty and the staff is chatting.
