The camp host's Sandy, Joe and Miss Lulu are the sweetest people ever! Our dog absolutely loved it! We were able to drive around certain spots to go fishing in the lakes. Just be aware. There is no type of signal in the campground, which was actually pretty nice. I definitely recommend the spot if you're trying to do a weekend getaway!

This was our backup plan since Sabrina campground was full. It's still a very lovely campground as…read morethe sites were surrounded by a river and lake. The lake itself you can't swim in according to the rangers due to the power utilities stuff that are there. You can fish can canoe though. There's two areas to this campground, upper and lower. We originally headed down to lower Intake 2, those sites were nestled right next to the river, but we found another one at upper intake that was well shaded and it was more secluded. We later found out there was also an easy access to the river over the hill for shower rinsing needs. The cost was $24.00 a night and $7.00 extra flat fee for an extra car coming out to $55.00 for two nights. The paid parking area only fit about 4-5 cars at best or else you'll have to try your luck at the first come, first serve parking lot (that's right next to paid parking lot). There were two restroom buildings, the farther one was vaulted (no sink) and had recycling bins right outside. The one closer to our site had running water (had a sink and drinking water fountain) and flushable toilets. For a first timer camper, I definitely really liked this campsite a lot, it was close to the hiking trails that we wanted to do as well.

Had a raccoon get into my car through my partially open window while I slept, ate some of my food and made a mess. Don't leave any food out overnight. There are two pit toilets that are well maintained, but no running water so only bottle showers. I think there might be a running well on site, but I used my own water I brought with me. It was $14 a night to stay here.

But the best part of this place is that it has hot tubs that come straight from a hot spring! It is so relaxing you might find yourself spending all day in the tub and coming out a prune. Beware....Fat shaming! Worst experience We called to book…read moreour ride and spoke to Theresa. She asked the weight and height of the riders. I told her our height and let her know we needed larger animals as we are bigger girls but did not exceed the 250 weight limit requirement. She assured me she had larger animals and it would be fine. I let her know where we were driving from and she said we were an hour and 1/2 away. Theresa called back after speaking with her manager, shortening our ride in half because the trail is up and down hill. She assured me that there was no issue with riding. After a long journey through the mountains, we arrived ready for a fun day riding. When we got there, Theresa looked at us and said our legs were not long enough. We were taken aback. Upon further questions and discussion it became clear that there was alternative reasoning. Even though we all fell under the weight restrictions, we LOOKED too heavy to ride, then later revealed that the owner was trying to sell and would have concerns. The conversation fell into an awkward silence. We were frustrated, disappointed, and upset. I even suggested not going on the trail just riding around camp but they insisted we could not ride the horses safely, apologized, and turned us away. Theresa went as far as to comment to my girls how hard it is to be too fat then offered us cookies! James overheard the conversation and suggested that we meet the horses. We brushed and pet them, which was very kind of him. I would not recommend taking the drive through the mountains for these folks. There were many alternative riding options in the area. I'd suggest taking your business to a place that's more organized, transparent, and kind.

Whoa! Chidago Canyon…read moreis famous for petroglyphs so we were adventurously searching for petroglyphs. No lucks this time for genuine Indian petroglyphs; but we found one wall with a carved petroglyph of a miner. There were many beautiful rocks with different shapes and colors, wild flowers and some nice mining ruins. The views of the surrounding mountain peaks were spectacular and the natural landscape was amazing. Gorgeous place for serenity, peace, adventure, and nature! The canyon can be hiked and also be driven through although there were several narrow spots which could be tough for big trucks. Highly recommended!
