We typically do not order off of the happy hour menu, but we decided what the heck prices seem to be better, Let's give it a shot. Keep in mind we've done this a few times here and there's never been an issue substitution wise for ordering tacos, however on this visit, we were told we could not do any substitutions which I thought was kind of odd as I'm not a seafood fan so I simply requested to have one of the other whether it be Asada or Pollo instead of a trio and not the seafood. After many discussions with our server, and then the manager that was on duty, I was told they're absolutely was no substitutions which I thought was unreasonable ,so after a long time customerI decided we would just not order and close out our bill and this put a sour taste in my mouth about LaCosina. They continue to raise their prices and now not offer choices, and not cater to those who do not like seafood. I am saddened to say, but we will no longer be a customer at La Cosina.

You can't choose your spot anymore so if you have young kids, see if you can be placed somewhere off the main road; it's worth a shot to ask since it makes me nervous that kids can wander up the small hill onto the main highway. The store is always stocked and the service is friendly. Keep in mind that the store closes at 6pm so if you're a late arrival, you can check in the following morning.

The reservation process is a breeze! Check-in good. Ancillary bathrooms immaculate! Trash bins neat & clean. Assigned spaces large, with a fire ring, table & my very own huge tree to sleep under!!! Almost paradise. Nearby fishing opportunities are insane!! I can't believe I've lived in CA this long & never known such a great spot! There are at least 4 reservoirs or lakes in the vicinity that are well stocked, not including the river & streams. Heard the hunting was just crazy! The only drawback I could see had nothing to do with this RV Park. The drive from Shaver Lake takes about 90 minutes (maybe longer) because of the cleanup crews working on the dead trees--7 days a week. Be sure to fill up in Shaver Lake before traveling on to Wishon! It snowed up there last weekend so be prepared! It was so beautiful.

It's literally across from the fishing area, picnic area, farthest from the traffic and road noise. The water has a fountain and ongoing movement of water, perhaps that's why it seems more natural looking vs stagnant and gross. Most of this area and the opposite side of the river is undeveloped so it has a nature feel that most campsites I've been to don't give. And I've been to lots of them. My Hubby and sons caught like 7, 8, and 20 fish they said. All catch and release. Tons of catfish & bass. Some are so huge. Keep staring at the water near the small metal dock there and you might see them all. We are in site 122. The road noise woke me up at 6am, so I put in my earplugs and slept until 9am. For my future self, make sure to keep a permanent earplug stash in the RV. Other times I've been in other sites and the noise wasn't an issue and we've stayed here at least 3-4x. It's not glamorous, it doesn't have a ton of extra like a pool, putting greens, pool table, snack bar, etc. But it does have a small, shaded kids play area, volleyball net, basketball hoop, shaded picnic tables. It's so country feeling and relaxing. Its quiet & thats what I prefer when I go camping. This is one of my favorite camping spots in the cooler months of early Spring like March. One day I'd like to come here & camp on my way to Yosemite or Kings Canyon. Great rates & highly suggest.
