Perfect stop for our overnight on our journey north this winter. Rick checked us in and was so friendly, informative about the Bishop and nearby restaurants. (Astorga's Mexican restaurant across the street was very good). Highlands RV has all pull-thru sites, free strong WiFi, good cable reception w/many clear channels, a dog area, laundry facilities and more. Price was also a big PKUS! ($50 for full hookups!) We spent 9 days there in July 2025 in three trailers. We had a great time there; no problems at all with the campground. The front desk was very nice to us. We will be back again for sure. It looked like the best campground in Bishop. read more

I originally called a month prior and asked if I could leave from the RV park and go right to the riding trails and the lady asked if I had tags on my side by side, I said; "yes". She said I could. I booked for a week. When we arrived, I realized that the RV park is right off hwy 395. The office was closed for lunch. A gentleman helped us and told where our spot was. When the office opened, we contacted the clerk and asked her again (the same lady, I recognized her accent), how do I leave from the park and she asked again did I have tags. I told her I have OHV tags. I now realize that she's talking about a license plate and not a "tag" (I saw her car and realized that where she comes from, they refer to license plates as "tags"). I tried to explain the difference between a "plate" and a "tag" and she couldn't care less. She told me I could take a chance riding on the highway. I told her I can't take the chance That was the start of the nightmare. The next day, we decided we would make the best of it and just happen to see the same gentleman that helped us before. He told us about "Dial A Ride" so we could at least go into town without having to walk (the town is about 2 miles away). By Wednesday, we couldn't stand it anymore, we were placed at the very end near the exit and every morning between 4-5 am, diesel pick up trucks would drive by our window and wake us up. There was also an awful stench coming from my sink. The people who were next to us (they were there for one night) asked if our RV smells from the pipe too and we said yes. Wednesday morning while my wife was in the shower, a man walked in the ladies bathroom (the codes are the same), he immediately walked out (guessing it was a honest mistake). Between not being able to go riding, the trucks waking up early in the morning and the sewage swell, we decided to leave a day early. I went to the office and was greeted by a lady (dark hair) at the front desk. I told what was going on when I explained about the trucks, the lady (blond) who I originally dealt with was sitting behind a computer immediately said: "Oh, those are the linemen" (apparently, the RV park is use by out of town people who are working in this state). So she knew ahead of time (I'm guessing she's part of that group) about them leaving so early in the morning and still placed us there. I told the lady (dark hair) who was at the front counter that we were leaving a day early and asked for a refund for that day. The other lady (blond) said: "we don't give refunds, but we'll give you 2 free days" ( I'm leaving a day early because it's horrible. Why in the world would I do that)!? I asked her (blond hair) if she was the manager and she pointed to another lady (short cropped hair) who I saw earlier outside cleaning and said; "she's the manager". The lady immediately said she wasn't and the blond said: "well your partner is" and they laughed. I asked for the manager's name which they gave me (Eva) and as I started to walk out, the lady with the cropped hair said sarcastically: "Have a nice day" while the blond sat behind the computer and grinned from ear to ear. The lady I spoke to when I first contacted (dark hair) was just mortified by what was going on (I could see it on her face). She was polite and respectful. I really didn't care about the money, I just wanted to tell them what happened so it wouldn't happen to someone else. She (dark haired lady) was at least polite, professional, and courteous. The lady with dark hair and the man that originally helped us were very nice and accommodating. The blond lady and the lady with cropped hair were so disrespectful, discourteous and sarcastic. They both were disgustingly rude. As a veteran and a retired first responder, I really don't expect a whole lot from people. I don't demand respect or recognition. I do however, expect to be treated like my business matters when I purchase something. We will never go there again. They definitely gave the City of Bishop a black eye. I have always loved coming here. Our trip this year was disappointing. I think it must be under new management because John and Wendy who have been there for years are no longer working there. The woman in the office was so rude. There is no warm and friendly feel anymore. sign of the times I suppose, just another person to fill a space. I think we might stay somewhere else next trip. We stayed in Highland RV Park for 7 night in late October. The park was a great location to explore Bishop and surrounding area. Their sites are all pull through. Gotta love it. The park is very well taken care, quiet (even though it's next to highway 395), and staff is friendly. I can not comment on bathrooms or showers due to not using or looked in at them. I did not use their wifi because I have Star Link. I would recommend staying here. Abundance of things and places to see and hiking, fishing. read more

This is our 'go-to' in Bishop. Staff is truly RV centric and they make us feel very welcome every time we visit. Close to town, within walking distance of everything. Especially handy if your tow vehicle breaks down. Was able to spend a few nights here without a reservation. All pull thru spots with full hook ups. Pleasant staff! Super bummed this trip! We have been staying here for three years now. Usually come up a day or two before we head to Mammoth. This year Mammoth got so much snow so we had to stay a few extra nights and they require payment up front so we paid it. Decided to leave early and they would not refund us for the two days. I could understand if every spot was completely full but the park is half empty so we were not taking someone else's chance at a spot. We will not be returning :( and instead staying at one of the other camp sites in Bishop. Highlands you lost a long time patron! Customer service is key. read more

This is the nicest and appears to be the newest RV park in Bishop. The grounds are well kept and clean. They allow some long-term residents in which we opted and found the rate to reasonable. Wendy the manager was friendly and accommodating with us. If passing through Bishop, I would recommend this as your first stop for RV camping. read more

We have stayed here several times. A great place with nice pull- thrus and back ins. 50 amp service which is a must in summer months for dual AC's Full hook ups and no tents. The only nice RV Park for big rigs in Bishop. We used to stay @ Brown's town and they only have 30 amp service with many tent groups coming through plus dirt interior roads. This is a Good Sam park so with discount it is only a few dollars more than Brown's. We paid $36 a night here summer 2013. Great hiking and fishing @ 8000 ft plus just 15 minutes away. Great breakfast spot and Mexican dining just across the street. Large grassy dog walk area in the park. Laundry and clean restrooms. Super friendly staff. read more

My wife and I Spent 3 days here over this last weekend and we really enjoyed it. The park is very quiet, clean and well maintained. The office was run buy a real nice lady. As some other reviews mentioned the spots are a bit narrow, but we had plenty of room for our slid out and to open our awning. I would stay there again without a second thought. read more

Park was clearly designed before there were Slide-Outs. Spaces too close together for a place that rarely fills up. Park Custodians were wonderful and very helpful in guiding us to local restaurants and area attractions. Great Dog Park ! We enjoyed our three night stay at this nice quiet park. Park had good facilities, friendly staff, and the best park wi-fi we have ever experienced. The interior roads were easily managed with our 38' MH towing a car. We would definitely stay at this park again and plan on exploring this area further in the future. read more

We stayed here as our last stop on a trip home. We'd had RV issues that morning and didn't think we'd make it there so I called to cancel. Since they don't make you pay till you arrive it was no big deal and the lady I talked to couldn't have been nicer. As luck would have it we resolved our problem and I called to let her know that we would be arriving that evening. We got there after office hours to find a list with our name and site number on it, right next to a list of unreserved sites for late check in. Our spot was marked with a cone making it easy to find as the sun was setting. The spaces are well maintained, even though the concrete patios are showing their age. All the spaces had been raked and it just looked clean and tidy. Unfortunately it was too smokey to sit outside and relax. We've been looking for a get away spot a few hours from home when we feel the need to get away. I think we've found it! COVID19 safety procedures were in place making no contact payment safe and easy. read more

We had a pull through with a dirt/sand front yard and a cement patio. Slides take up about half the yard, so Sites are too close together to enjoy sitting out. We had to squeeze our truck in, as it's a long as the site is wide. There is a beautiful grassy area next to the office for walking the dog. This was the best part of the whole campground. Just wish they would fence it in, as it's right on the road and was hard to watch my toddler and pick up poop for two dogs. read more

This spot we came across as we ventured out to Mammoth. We found it by mistake since everything in Mammoth was completely booked. They have very good social distancing procedures in place. So we came in pretty late . At the office we found a list with site numbers listed that had not been rented yet. So you can go in and settle in to a site. You have to complete an envelope with the information they need and they just drive by in the morning at 8am and check from a distance. I think it's great to have an option like this for the folks that get a late start to the day. It was so much peace of mind knowing we had a spot before we moved on with our trip. We'd definitely come back and try fishing in Bishop. The office staff was informative but from a distance. They have an intercom speaker you talk through. Check out time is noon so it gives you plenty of time to gather your belonging. We didn't really explore the campground much since we had a time crunch. Nice quiet & cute park. They include picnic tables at each site. Showers are clean and they heat the room for those chilly days. The sites themselves were really tight, making maneuvering your vehicle a challenge with your neighbors paring their cars so close to each other. We had to ask our neighbor to move their car so we could pull our trailer out. Lots of little places to eat outside the park and in walking distance. Antique shops in walking distance too. Beautiful park, well cared for, friendly staff. Only down side is the heavy traffic going past the park, and occasionally, the siren from the volunteer fire department across the street. If you get a spot toward the back, the street noise isn't as bad. We've stayed here several times and always enjoyed our stay along with the great Mexican food across the street at Astorga's. read more

You're better off staying anywhere but here. There are dogs off leash and people hanging garbage bags in trees but the worst part is the owner. The older man is very nice but his short haired wife is very rude and harassed my wife and I multiple times in our short stay. I cannot stress enough how rude and invasive she was. Relatively quiet, clean park with all the amenities you need when RV-ing. The dog area is tree shaded grass and very nice despite the burn spots from female dogs. Wish it was fenced in but it's great regardless and it's definitely the nicest dog area in all the parks we've visited. There are some choice spots that get afternoon shade which is appreciated in July but our spot is exposed until the sun sets behind the Sierras. The staff are friendly, nice and accommodating. The park is clean and well maintained. We did not use the laundry or the showers. Definitely recommend this place and will stay again when in the area, preferably in Spring or Fall. read more

Great place! Nice level pull thru spaces with picnic tables. The park is clean and there is a sense of security there. The bathrooms are large and clean. The water pressure in the showers is amazing! We self checked in since they were closed at night. Wifi is fair and there is a great Mexican Restaurant across the street. We paid $43.00 cash for one night. read more

We stayed here for 2 weeks in April 2010. The park is beautiful and has a great grass area for pets. Staff was friendly and restrooms and facilities were spotless and secure. Perfect spot to spend a few days before taking that big hike into the back country or to your favorite fishing spot in the eastern sierra. read more

From the moment we drove up to register, to our last day one month later, we felt welcome and comfortable at the Highlands RV Park. The spaces are large enough for privacy and even include a wooden picnic table. The manager helped us find the perfect spot for our one month stay. The restrooms and showers, while built a few years ago, were clean and comfortable. I am a stickler for cleanliness and shower water pressure and both met my requirements. The laundry room is clean, with enough washers and dryers, and it's open 24 hours, a big plus. Wi-fi was adequate and cable TV was available. This park is quiet and well-maintained, with on-site managers. We would recommend this RV park to fellow RV travelers, whether staying one night or one month. The scenery and greenery are beautiful, surrounded by majestic mountains and clear blue skies. We will definitely be back! read more

We checked into Highlands RV Park Oct 7, 2021 anticipating about a one month stay. Our pickup had a major breakdown and we were to be two to three weeks for repair. We were there three months without getting the pu fixed. We left Highlands on Day 93 for home with our pickup on a trailer. If we could give a 10+ rating we would. The park is very clean. Without exception, dog owners are very respectful of the rules, the dog exercise area is large, grassy and clean with a nice running water pond.The restrooms and showers are very clean, as is the laundry room. The paved streets make walking a pleasure. There are nice walks outside the park along the levee. Bike paths are easily accessible. There are good restaurants within walking distance and shopping too. We made several new friends we remain in contact with. John and Wendy are the greatest, friendly and helpful, can't say enough good things about them. They treated us as family. We are making plans to return this fall but with a running pickup. This was my first stay at Highland's and I will be back. The park is clean and quiet even though I'd estimate 70% of the spaces were occupied. Although I'm not a Good Sam member, the $40 per night was reasonable with the full hook ups, cable TV & wifi available.
