This winter, I was looking for a rare item and this was the only store that looked like carried it. I was a bit apprehensive about going in, but what was I thinking! The store has totally changed my views on locally owned shops. Prices are actually not higher than the mall (Nordstrom, Macy's, etc.), the staff are actually kind and helpful, and there is a cute dog hanging out and wagging its tail! I had a great experience getting a rare item in my size at a lower price than expected, with smiles and kindness through the end of the transaction. We are 6 adults, and four little girls ages 5-7 We range from beginner to experienced with kayaking. Just before we went out, the weather changed so we came back in after half an hour. We ate in the restaurant while it poured, and then went back out for another 90 minutes. We got out on sand bars to visit and play. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. A staff member provides a comprehensive review of the boat and it's features, and then you are free to cruise the blue-green waters of the Chain O' Lakes all day. The pontoon (20' Hydrotherapy) was clean and comfortable, the canopy kept us shaded when the sun was hot, you have swim stairs in case you want to stop at a sandbar and cool off, and there were no issues at all with the motor. Plus they give you a map showing the lakes in the chain, detailing which ones are no-wake so the day was relaxing and trouble-free from start to finish.

For those who don't know, Sierra is part of the TJX companies (others include Tj maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods), so you better believe they have sweet deals. Plus, it just feels like the most high-end version of all those stores. So big, open and clean. Very well organized. And they pretty much have something in every category: name-brand outdoor gear, apparel, footwear, home goods, kids items, unique gifts and more. The store--not surprisingly, given its newness--is quite clean and more impressively, is very orderly. One of my pet peeves of the TJX Co stores is that racks are often a shitshow of mismatched hangers and tags, which I never understood: If the hanger tag doesn't match the item, I'm not going to find what I want and I'm going to give up. Who does that benefit? I didn't have that issue here, but sadly did not find anything I needed/wanted in terms of clothing this time around. Checkout was a breeze and the cashier was very engaging, just wish I could say that for the rest of the staff that walked around the store like I was starring in my own personal version of "The Sixth Sense," since they didn't interact with me because I was apparently dead and just didn't know it yet.

But I'm not here to review purchased items, I'm here to review the company's Port Washington store. Located on the southern end of the downtown strip, this store has a "woodsey" feel. There is much more product in the store than I initially anticipated and one could spend a fair amount of time browsing everything from womens and mens apparel to dog accessories to cook books to candies. There are many unique items that make fun gifts for relatives and friends; I often come here to find something for that hard-to-shop-for person. I have been in this store many times and it is always clean and well organized. The associates are friendly. However, a strange phenomenon occurs in this space. Time does not seem to exist. Not for the customers, not for the employees, just not at all. Ever. Don't get me wrong, the calm atmosphere is relaxing and I dont enjoy the hustle and bustle ever. It's often a neccessary evil. However, it should not take 40 minutes to make a simple exchange with 2 cashiers and a customer at each register. When an older lady tried to cut in front of me in line, after I waited all that time, I nearly lost my cool. The snail's pace is my only issue about this store. I do reccomend checking it out if you are in the area, and definitely for a unique gift item. Just know that it isn't a store you can just run in and run out.
