John is knowledgeable in different types of cuts, colors, and types of hair, so if you're unsure whether he will know how to deal with your hair, don't be -- HE WILL KNOW! Not only that, his prices are cheaper than others. I've scoured Google and Yelp for a few days and decided that I absolutely wanted to go with him because he had all good reviews, shows his cuts and styles on Instagram, and is booked for months out. Because of this, it's best to schedule a haircut online with him -- you'll be able to find last-minute openings. John is patient, knowledgeable, and kind. He's there to give you a haircut, but he's also there to spread some knowledge. He showed me how he was cutting my hair and why he was doing it. His consultation was also very helpful, especially because I didn't know anything about hair and how to style it. I wanted to change the way my hair looked in both style and color, and John was there to give feedback and what he thought was in my best interest. I felt like he should have charged for his consultation because he spent a GOOD amount of time providing advice and feedback, time that's worth money, especially when I was his last client for the day and it was getting late. Because he didn't charge extra for consultation, I provided a good tip. What I wish beforehand, which isn't really John's fault, is how to enter the building. It was late, so the door was locked -- luckily, there was someone who let me in. If you ever encounter this situation, just text John and he'll come open the door for you! Overall, I believe I am a permanent client of John's. My husband loves my hair and believes that John did a really good job, especially for the price you're paying. I highly recommend John!

This is crazy, and what I was left with was nothing even remotely close to what I had asked for in the picture. Which once again, another factor of him refusing to give a yes or no. The only thing we were clear on in the end is that the cut and style were sub-par, and that I did NOT want to pay.

While the service itself wasn't bad, there wasn't anything that stood out. At other salons I've visited, the experience typically ends with small finishing touches--like applying lotion or a brief hand massage--but this service felt very basic. I still tipped Tia 20% because Honey worked me into the schedule during what would have been Tia's break, and I appreciated that accommodation. Unfortunately, once I got home and removed my contacts so I could see my nails more clearly, I noticed several details that became more apparent over the next few days. It appeared the polish wasn't properly sealed, and one nail had missing polish along the side before I ever left the salon. Since my nails were completely dry when I departed, I believe those issues should have been caught before the service was finished. For me, the overall experience wasn't worth the drive or the price I paid. The video of my nails tells the story better than this caption ever could. That said, based on my interaction with Honey, I genuinely believe booking with her could result in a different experience. This is so they are able to charge if you are late or a no show. I was told by them that they expect clients to be accountable as they are, so I went along with it because I understood. They will charge me if I am late but give 15% off if they are late as well. First appt was ok but they were late. I had to wait about 15 or 20 min. The appt for hard gel I had took 3 hours! Yet I was ok. I was trusting them and the process. I made my next 2 appts at that time. The second visit took just as long if not longer. I had plans but was not able to keep them as they were because the appt took so long. I never got the chance to go to the third appt which I made two months prior and had planned right before a vacation. They sent a text the day before asking if it was ok to move my appt to a new tine. I declined because again I had plans for that day. They then sent multiple confusing texts asking me to change my appt time which I didn't understand when they originally asked and I declined. They finally called and confirmed my original appt. They then sent a text on the day of my appt two hours before to say the tech had the flu and they would have to reschedule me and gave me 5 or so random appt choices during the morning hours as if I don't work. So very unprofessional. If you value your time do not waste it on this establishment. I overlooked the contract, the high prices and the long timeframe for the service but I will not compromise on how I am treated. I will never go back and I encourage you to not waste your time or money with this establishment either. Value yourself, your time and your money!

I just separated from the military, so after 8 years of wearing my hair in a bun every day i was ready for something different. First of all, it made me extremely happy to walk in and see every stylist with bright colorful hair, to me this mean't they clearly aren't strangers to color. I told Megan i was open to any color. This fabulous person took my (tan/cool-toned) skin into account and went with a forest green. I have had soooo many compliments, people keep stopping me to tell me how my hair compliments my skin. Even my 80 year old grandmother said it looks great I also got a beautiful, super sharp, blunt bob (omg adjectives). I'm of the white/black variety and have tight, fine curls that I frequently abuse with a flat-iron. It is extremely important to me that I not walk into a salon and see a look of terror when confronted with my hair. They didn't act like my hair was struggle they have to deal with, they just rolled with it. So THANK YOU! Full disclosure, this was not the salon i mean't to request an appointment from, but after shooting a yelp appointment request their way at 7 am, I received a reply back in like 30mins! Amazing. This place has given me my absolute worst hair experience I've ever had. I had two bleach sessions at the beginning of March. When I started out, I had a decent amount of hair. Today, the top of my hair, as well as the entire perimeter of my hair has broken off leaving me with about 4 inches in those areas, and long hair in the middle that's slowly but surely breaking off as well. I had reached out to Megan to explain what was going on since I wasn't having any issues with breakage prior to, but she tried to brush it off as me now having "heat damage" caused after her services. I'm well versed in the fact that bleach can cause damage, but the amount I've experienced is beyond unacceptable. I'd love to hear how many people wind up with their hair coming out in handfuls due to heat damage following multiple Bleachings. Every time I wash it, I get at least two handfuls that just melt off of my head. I paid $700 total for my hair to be completely destroyed, and then the stylist couldn't even take responsibility to her own mistake. Beware if you're going to get your hair bleached here, you may not have any hair when it's over with and the "stylist" won't even care. This was my first time here, and I must say it felt like home! I needed a hair cut bad it had been over a year since the last time I sat on a salon chair. I was seen by Kaity who is amazing!! From the minute I sat on her chair she asked me what I wanted to do with my chair, what is something I don't like about and how I would like to see it. Walked me through every step of what she was doing. Explained to me about the products she was using and the benefits and especially how to keep my hair healthy. And most of all showed me any easy trick on how to style my hair! I loved! Loved!! It all lol left out of there with so much knowledge! I recommend for everyone to visit Kaity. I could not be more thrilled to call this salon my hair sanctuary. I have been a regular client there for roughly a year or so now and not once have I left disappointed, unhappy, or unsatisfied. I am always treated with respect, I never feel like a wallet waiting to be emptied like I have in other salons in the past. My hair has never been healthier than it has been this past year and that is absolutely thanks to these hair wizards. Special shout out to Kaity though. She can do everything, from crazy colors to a natural ombre, and gives amazing cuts. She is an experienced expert, who teaches a lot of the other talented stylists there like Kaity. The hair is different than the typical freetress deep wave but still passion twist hair. By the end of the style I was given small sized parts and medium/ medium-large sized twists. It wasn't until I reached out expressing concern that the braided told me she was aware and used larger amounts of hair for my ENTIRE head -- hence the medium/ medium large sized twists. The braider went with her own judgement without consulting me and gave me a completely different style that is extremely heavy and bulky. Consult the client instead of doing as you please. I regret coming and now have to pay for a new hairstyle Update 8/17. 3 days after service. My hair is coming out of every twist. One of the twists in the front has come out completely. This is so frustrating and unprofessional. Despite the size difference the quality of the twists is extremely low. This quality should call for more than a partial refund or partial redo.

(BEFORE I BEGIN ANY PERSON WHO HAS HAD BRAIDS BEFORE KNOWS 30 CORNROWS IS NOTHING MORE THAN 2 HOURS)(IF THAT) Marquisia Norton scheduled me for 9a, but called the morning of rescheduling for 11a "it was her clients fault" Marquisia Norton is terrible with accepting responsibility (her boss got on her head during my experience about her organization skills with something about the shop, she proceeded to talk about how the boss needs to relax and so forth...failing to realize the reason she was being scolded about using other peoples chairs is because she needed to be organized with her clients in general..I digress.... I showed up at 10:47a to make sure the the hairdresser had plenty of time to get me in...but she was not even halfway done with the person in her chair. After sitting WAITING for 55 minutes, Marquisia Norton at last sat me in the chair. It was not until around 3p that I had about 5-7 braids done..... She walked away and began working on another client that she irresponsibly scheduled. She had been running around doing and talking to everyone eating cupcakes and so forth, yet it had been four hours and I was not even a mile close to being done. I had to plead that she get off the other persons head because I had been in there all day and was ready to get things ROLLING. 7p rolled around and she finally was done. Marquisia Norton did not offer a discount for me being in the shop literally ALL day, my hair lasted for a week and six days, and oh yeah IF SHE TELLS YOU THAT SHE DOES GUARANTEE MONEY BACK IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED, RUN THE OTHER WAY WITH YOUR MONEY. Not color but bleach! I didn't know what it was when it was initially being applied by her assistant. I should have walked out when the assistant asked 2x if that was what she wanted to put in my hair without saying what it was. My hair now has thinning and has not grown back healthy as it once was. I spent almost $500 in 2 weeks only to have missing patches of hair that turned to straw. After my service her instructions were to make sure I get my protein treatments. Long story short ALL of my hair started to fall out within a week. By week two I had significant loss. I messaged her and instead of taking responsibility she proceeded by protecting herself by saying "I told you this probably wasn't a good idea." THAT WAS A FLAT OUT LIE! She is the professional why would I tell her what to do after being told it would damage my hair. She told me to book 2 weeks out. Better question is, why would she do it if she knew it wasn't a good idea?! Plain and simple GREED! Yes, I made sure to get a protein treatment but was told my hair was dead and needed to be cut all off. The only reason she was not sued is because of my barber Noah who said I should pray for her and chalk it up to a bad experience. His thought was not to destroy her business or reputation. I tried to let it go. I am all for supporting black businesses but SOME black business owners need to do better. The greed, the attitudes, and the over inflated prices need to be addressed. Rachel basically took my money, destroyed my hair, all with an attitude. I HAVE RECEIPTS SO IF YOU DECIDE TO RESPOND, DO IT HONESTLY.

This place is beyond what I expected! You know how you've been to a salon and it's older looking…read moreand you can tell that the place been around for years? Or maybe that's just me. Diva Styles was the most cleanest salon I've ever been to, I was instantly greeted as I walked in on my first visit by one of the stylist. I was seated, as I sat I looked around this very spacious salon, whom ever did the decor I loved it! This place has a urban but classy vibe to it. They play nice music (that's enjoyable) and again did I mention how clean it was? I was introduced to Natashia, While she was already working on a client head. Natashia was very sweet/ quick and prompt when it came to styling my hair, her associate and I had a good conversation while she shampoo my hair, once I was done shampooing, I was blowed dried out and Natashia begin her amazing process to doing my silk press. I've never felt so comfortable with people but both these ladies made me feel home, we laughed so hard. If you looking for a place to get slayed then this the place to go!!!
