This place was just OK. I dubbed it the "Starbucks of København" which . . . is not really a compliment. The flat white I had was standard, and the pastries on order were not as nice as those at Lagkagehuset, across the canal - which is where we went back to for the remainder of our trip. read more

I got a vanilla latte which was actually quite sweet for me and the barista initially balked at my request for a new one, when she did make a new one after convincing it was the complete opposite and had no sweetness. They certainly may have good drinks but based off my drink would not recommend coming. read more

I have been told that the first rule of dealing with addiction is acknowledging, that you have one. Well, here goes, I am a coffee-holic. I can drink coffee any time of day, multiple times, and still go to sleep at night. When I arrived in town, my hotel room was not ready, and i needed a place to hangout. So I walked over the local coffee house on the corner. In this case, it was the Espresso House. To my surprise, I thought I was walking into a bar or lounge. If Pier 1 and Starbucks had a baby, this would be the place. The chain has taken a lot time in choosing the decor, to make it comfortable and inviting. Nice deep leather couches and chairs, as well as hardwood furniture wall paintings and accessories galore. Once you get passed accessoration of this place, there lies a coffee bar, where the staff greet you with enthusiasm. I looked at the menu, and for a confessed coffee-holic, I could not make up my mind. So I did something I would not normally do, I chose something off of a picture menu. I chose the ISLATTE aka ice latte. It was great. Caramel sauce, milk, espresso, blended with ice and topped with whip. To add my "misery" of course I added a pastry. I spent a few hours there taking it all in drinking more ISLATTE, to one's content. I highly recommend this place. You can't go wrong and you will be with great company. Bon Apetite. read more

Stood at the cashier to order fir what felt a life time. About 6 employees were talking, laughing, obviously having a great time. When I asked one of them to help, she said she could not, asked someone else who just nodded...and I decided it was time to leave. Terrible customer service! read more

Great for tourists, not for locals. This is a great place to stop for a caffeine kick and free wifi. The cafe is deceptively large with a lot of seating and the employees speak English fluently. The coffee itself is not great but there are plenty of other spots in Copenhagen that will help you out there. My husband had a toasted chicken and mozzarella sandwich and I got the avocado wrap. While he really enjoyed his sandwich, I wasn't a fan of my meal... It was a little soggy and heavy on the raw onion. Being a Swedish coffee chain, I expected more in the way of vegetarian options but there were only two to choose from. However, they do at least know how to make coffee with non-dairy milks. read more

Espresso House is the 7-Eleven of Danish coffee chains - everywhere you look, it's there! We swung by for a quick breakfast before our train and tried their breakfast sets. This particular branch immediately stood out because of its great interior decor and interesting furs. Music could have been better but maybe Danes are just really into electro folk. If I was on AUX I'd put on some BROCKHAMPTON Shame that the OJ in the set wasn't in a bigger cup - fresh stuff. Lattes were solid. Breakfast felt a little pathetic because it was just straight loaves of bread with some cheese and butter spread on but I figure I'll top it off with a protein shake from 7-11. Nice place, as alternative to Starbucks. Usually they have limited selection of sandwiches, some buns or cakes, and coffee. The good thing is that you can find them almost everywhere. read more

I have been here twice in the past week to do some homework with a few of my friends. This place is usually not too crowded during the week, so if you are coming here to do work or hangout with friends, you will not have trouble finding seats. This cafe is very large, as there is the main floor where you order your food and coffee, a basement with tons of seating, and an upstairs that also has tons of seating. The food and coffee are quit good here. I would not say that Espresso House has the best coffee or pastries or sandwiches in the world, but they are quit good. The prices are not bad here and the service is very good. All of the employees are very nice and were patient when my friend and I spent a very long time trying to figure out which drinks we wanted to order. My biggest issue with Espresso House is the wifi situation. Every single time I come here I have issues connecting to the wifi. They say they have three different wifi options, but they never ever work and I always end up connecting to Burger King's free wifi instead. Also, it is sooooo hot in Espresso House and the heating was broken when both times I was there and the employees could not figure out how to turn down the temperature. Therefore, every time I have been here, the wifi has been terrible and it has been way too hot. I think that Espresso House is more of a place where you should go to get a sandwich or drink to go, not somewhere where you should go to work for a long time just because it is very hot in there and the wifi connection is not great. read more

The newly opened Espresso House just screams "coffee house tourist trap!" It yells it straight in my face when I walk in from the street, but what the hell: it's so close and there so convenient and how much can you fuck up a latte and a bagel, right? Well, turns out that lattes sometimes turn out completely bland: not good, not bad, just exactly what you paid for. Well, a little more expensive than what you'd normally pay for, but I guess locations requires a certain price, no? As for the food, well, don't bother. The bagel I had was nearly impossible to cut through with the plastic knife and fork I was given and it was not good. Also, it was indeed messy. Not exactly a compliment. Maybe because the girl by the counter kept dropping it from side to side as she struggled to put it on a plate for me. I don't blame her, but if she had trouble, consider how hard it was to get through using a plastic knife and fork... But the cakes look good as they always do in places like this. They know how to lure people in, those sly dogs. read more

I didn't realise until I was here that this was part of a chain. It has the feel of a certain well known American chain, and not in a good way. I came here whilst looking for the central train station on Sunday morning but I wouldn't make a special trip. I had a large triple hot chocolate, which in itself was 52 kroner. I then had a chocolate cheesecake with it, taking the total to 87 kroner. Considering the previous morning I paid 55 kroner for a hot chocolate and croissant at an independent place, I thought this was definitely the expensive side of Copenhagen I had heard about. The staff were quite surly. I had quite a large note to pay for my order, but bearing in mind the cash machine at the airport the day before didn't give out notes lower than 200, I couldn't help it. Yet, I was made to feel like I was a troublesome customer. Another thing is that other customers seemed to put their coats on chairs and then queue up. I didn't notice this in any other place, so I'm not sure why it happened here. Sure, it was busy, but where there is a group, surely it would be better to have one of the group holding the table. Also the tables were not regularly cleaned. This all meant that I took some time to find a seat. The cheesecake was nice and the hot chocolate certainly not the best I had in Copenhagen. Main pros: Ample space, a nice place to hang out and location. In case of nuclear holocaust, come here and go to the old bank vault in the basement. Meehs: The regular coffee is not too exciting. Food is ok but the prices reflect the location. Staff usually forget to tell you about refills. Cons: Too often people are camping out in the sofas for hours. read more

Another terrible disappointment today after a terrible food at cafe Nytorv. Overpriced cakes (økologisk blåbære crumble tærte), which were supposed to be served the wiped cream, but they run out wiped cream. Sour-cream may be? Nope, it is finished. Anything you can offer instead? Nope, all is finished. 5 hours before the closing time???!!! No applogies, no price reduction, the waiter was rude and arrogant. The cake was dry, tasted nothing, highly overpriced for the size, taste and "freshness". The glasses for water and cutlery seemed not washed properly. And I wish I had never went to the toilet. I will avoid the details for your sake... It is a shame to have places like this just in the middle of the city center and one of the most popular turist areas. read more

This is a nice place in an excellent location. But .. even with relatively few customers it is slow beyond belief. If there are six people ahead expect to wait 19-15 minutes. As I write this there are thirteen people awaiting drinks (and this is a slow October midweek afternoon). It's not the fault of the staff - who I suspect will not stick it for long - but management. There simply aren't sufficient numbers of staff members. Unfair on everybody. read more

Capacity and seatings. That is the first quality you notice when you walk in to this gigant coffee place. There are seatings outside (during) summer, in every corner and even downstairs. I haven't been here when it's crowded, but I assume there will always be a quiet place to sit. Besides that, coffee is the same standard you would expect from a chain. Baresso, Starbucks or Espresso House. Same-o same-o. So are the (high) prices. One tip to the staff; better service, please. Make the customer feel welcome and smile - we're not just coffee zombies looking for a fix. read more
