I came here for treatment for the herniated discs in my neck and scoliosis in the lumbar. I've had physical therapy before but none that really helped, until now. I met Dr. Sid for a consultation where he and Dr. Shannon created a customized plan for me. I went for 36 visits which included physical therapy, cupping from Dr. Shannon and a spinal adjustment by Dr. Sid. They asked me questions ranging from what I did for a living and my posture while working or walking. Dr. Shannon pointed out that sitting on the sofa with a laptop on your lap was not conducive to my neck. You would think this was common sense, but for me, it was not. I learned that sitting in general was not good for scoliosis and began learning about the importance of good posture, strengthening and decompression. Dr. Sid reviewed pillows for side sleepers in order to prevent stiff neck and Dr. Shannon sent me home with a list of exercises. It became clear their goal were to provide tools to continue working on myself on a daily basis so I wouldn't have to rely on physical therapy for the rest of my life. How refreshing! Other people write reviews about restaurants, I write reviews about medical professionals. It's soooo difficult to find good health practitioners in NYC. I first came to Espirit W more than a year ago, after trying to find a proper diagnose for at least 4 years of backache, some doctors said the problem was my knees, others said the feet (they were ready to proceed with surgery!!) some said the lower back muscles, the hip flexors, what a waste of time and money!. I came to Dr. Sid and on the 1st visit he gave me the answer I needed: I have a mild case of Scoliosis. He took a full body X-ray right in the spot (no having to schedule an appointment at a radiology centre is pretty convenient) and described step by step what was going on with my spine and how it was affecting. I'd been suffering from a pinched nerve in my back for 3 weeks and it was getting worse instead of better, so I finally decided to see a chiropractor about it. My past experiences hadn't been too convincing, so I was a little wary, especially because Esprit's prices are twice as much as what I've spent on chiropractors in the past. But Dr. Sid was worth it; his assessment of me was dead on, and he used several acupuncture techniques in addition to chiropractic adjustment that gave me immediate pain relief and returned mobility. He also gave me really good post-treatment advice, knowing that I wouldn't be able to afford another session and within 48 hours of applying his advice, I feel remarkable improvement. I woke up this morning for the first time in 3 weeks without pain. If you're just looking for a more low-key adjustment, I'd say you could probably go elsewhere, but if you're really in need of serious pain intervention, I'd definitely recommend an appointment at Esprit. read more

Dr. Sid is amazing, compassionate and knowledgeable. He will heal you! 5 years ago he cured me of chronic neck pain I suffered for 10 years until i found Esprit Wellness. Last month I went to NYU for severe back pain and they gave me inflammatory meds and a script for physical therapy. I could not handle the pain so I went to see Dr. Sid the next day. ( I should have gone straight to Dr. Sid) We did muscle stretches (yoga poses,) electric stimulation, cupping and a chiropractic adjustment ALL IN ONE VISIT. Unheard of in NYC. You would have to go to several different places for all that work. I walked out feeling 50% better and woke up the next day 80% better. 2 more visits and I'm healthy and happy again. I was questioned in Marlene's email about my perception, and replied to Marlene why is she gaslighting my experience and perception? She has offered a refund but she is not fully understanding the gravitas of the situation. Misogyny and body shaming a woman's body by the person-in-charge who supposedly is supporting the client is a No-No. It is telling given the reviews below this is not the first time of the owners' questionable behavior and conduct. I found Esprit Wellness/Scolismart Clinics in a search for alternative treatment to surgery for my daughter, who was recently diagnosed with scoliosis. This establishment is a great choice for anyone looking for an alternative to surgery. Although my insurance didn't cover the service, I believe paying out of pocket was well worth it. I am by no means financially rich. But I do believe that you can't put a price on certain things, and some things are worth the sacrifice. And for my daughter's health, I would do it again. Ebony handles the administrative work for Dr. Sid and she is nothing short of amazing. I needed documentation to submit to my daughter's school and for my job, and she was more than helpful. Dr. Sid was very informative, explaining everything. He ensured that I understood everything throughout the process. He even identified other issues and referred me accordingly. Mona assists with the actual physical therapy, and she was great as well!! Very patient, caring, and kind. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. We were able to see a 13° decrease in her curve in just 9 days of the program. Although it wasn't exactly an easy process for my daughter as she hasn't been very active in the last 2 yrs, it was worth it. You must put in the work, but this program definitely works!!! Finding Dr. Sid and his staff at Esprit Wellness is nothing short of an answered prayer for me. I was diagnosed with scoliosis as a teenager and wore a brace for two years (a largely unsuccessful enterprise). Thankfully, my parents knew better than to allow surgery. Now 31 years old, I've spent many years doing yoga. This has helped me feel more spacious in my body, but hasn't done much to improve the condition of my spine or slow down the progression of my scoliosis. Before I found Dr. Sid, I was really at a loss for how to help myself get well. I was there back in January of 2017. It was so welcoming I felt so comfortable. I did The boot camp for two weeks. It's helped me so much I came there with a 49 degree curve and left with a 39 degree curve. I also have the SAS scoliosis active suit. It's​ help me so much. We need to spread the awareness. Because I didn't know I had scoliosis until after I had my first born and that was back in 2005. So this is the place you want to get help for it. It was so worth it because I won't get surgery. I dd the 2 week bootcamp and it was barbaric! Besides the brutality of it, there was no results. My curve ended up increasing which was assessed and reinforced by 2 different doctors. Dr Sid and his wife Marlene Oliva -who thinks she's so wise and savvy, lack compassion and are extremely unaccommodating towards their patients once they receive your money and complete the bootcamp. They are all a digital marketing propaganda. As for the treatment itself, there is no literature to support the long term benefits of it and the after-care he gives is unrealistic as well. Now that I have gained perspective, I can say that I endorse the Schroth Method, which is recognized internationally and has been proven successful with extensive literature to back it up and can be applied to every day life. In early January, I suffered from a massive herniated disc in my lower back incapacitating me, causing me to collapse. I've been to numerous neurosurgeons, spine experts, and other professionals (who all wanted to cut me open and perform surgery). Their solution was to dope me up on painkillers. My herniation was so bad, there were certain doctors that didn't want to touch me for fear they would cause more problems. The herniated disc was so bad it was pressing up against nerves, which caused excruciating pain down both my legs. After researching dozens of options, I finally made the right decision by starting an alternative rehabilitation regime through Esprit Wellness from Dr. Sid. Dr. Sid began his practice, Esprit Wellness, to help people seeking relief from pain. He cares about each of his patients, taking the time to carefully analyze and assess each individuals needs. He then creates a specific and individualized treatment based on each patient's symptoms. Dr. Sid has 1 goal in mind - getting his patients pain free! Dr. Sid is truly amazing! His techniques have helped me as well as dozens of others to relieve major back pain! Before seeing him, I was completely handicapped - literally - I could not do anything. I couldn't walk without pain, I couldn't get dressed, nor shower...I couldn't even get a good night's sleep. After the first treatment, I started seeing huge improvement. I began walking pain-free and I began feeling "normal" again. Dr. Sid's high tech equipment is state of the art and it has helped to take pressure off the nerves, thus relieving the pain in my legs and feet. Jerome, Dr. Sid's physical therapist, has hands of gold! Jerome's lower back massage therapy technique helped me stand straighter after the first session. I could see I was improving by how much more I was able to stretch and move around with each session. What causes the pain is that the vertebrae in the back become stressed and get pushed into each other. In between each vertebrae is a soft jelly-like cushion (aka discs). If the vertebrae touch each other, the disc gets squashed and herniated (similar to someone's fist smashing down on a jelly donut...the jelly pops out). Dr. Sid is able to maneuver individual specific vertebrae to allow the bones to separate and breathe, thus allowing the disc (jelly-like cushion) to return to its normal place. In addition to that, Dr. Sid also treats scoliosis. Results don't lie, curvatures don't lie. Had I listened to the numerous neurosurgeons and spine experts, I would still be laying on my back in pain. A neurosurgeons job is to perform surgery...that's what they know and that's what they do, and that's how they make money. HALT!!! INSURANCE WILL NOT PAY! Do not go to see Dr. Sid! I met with Dr. Sid on September 28th, 2010 regarding scoliosis therapy. He told me he verified my insurance (CIGNA) and then told me that they would cover 65%. He told me it would benefit me to pay for the treatment in full, which cost $12,000, and I would get 15 sessions for free. I scraped together the money for the very expensive therapy and I paid him. I went through the therapy, which makes you feel like cattle, you're in a room with 7 other people, he never pays attention to you, and you are basically getting treatments from his staff. I was still diligent about my therapy; I completed 30 sessions and submitted a claim for each individual session. After my 30th session the claims started coming back "DENIED". CIGNA stated that "The services weren't rendered as billed". I then had to go through an extremely lengthy appeals process for 30 claims, I even had the advocate at my work get involve with CIGNA. Eventually CIGNA denied everything after a thorough investigation. I received no compensation for my treatment. CIGNA has on record, Dr. Sid's office telling them that I would only be receiving "chiropractic care", when really, Dr. Sid should have made sure that my insurance company covered scoliosis treatment, which is what he was providing. Through my ongoing conversations with Dr. Sid regarding this matter, he has made it very clear that "He doesn't care about people's insurance" and told me I'm the only one this has happened to, when really, there are others out there that have had the same problem. I also have an email from one of his current employees stating that he consistently lies to his patients about their insurance coverage. I hope you don't make the same mistake that I did. I've shed a lot of tears over this, it has really been an emotional struggle. I went in with hope, and came out with despair. I hope I can help you avoid the same fate. read more
