Dr. Yin Wah is terrific!!! I have my energy back. I'm 44 and very active (lots of family and athletic activity, swimming, running, biking to work, hiking, etc.), but had gradually grown to feel like a 90-year-old man. Thanks to Dr. Yin Wah and her excellent partner massage therapist Mei, I'm now back to feeling 28 again, and enjoying my active life. The time and care she takes to understand the whole picture is unlike anything you can get in most of the western medical industry. So a nagging back problem had slowly worsened over the years, and one day I realized it had slowly consumed my life, depleted my energy. I was sluggish and had trouble waking as early as wanted to in the mornings. I would wake up stiff and took half a day to start to feel closer to normal. I was gradually replacing more and more of my anaerobic exercise time (swimming, running, and biking) with more and more preparatory stretching and yoga, which are not bad, but I would stretch and stretch hoping to loosen my muscles up so that I could go out and for a refreshing run, but it wouldn't work and soon I'd run out of time to get out for that run. And then the lack of exercise (I need lots of exercise) would leave me feeling even more sluggish, lazy, stiff, creaky. And I was even starting to spend a crazy amount of my working hours on stretching. Stretching that didn't even seem to be working. This did not seem right. Meanwhile, I'd long had a suspicion that my stiffness might be related to some digestive weirdness I'd had for years as well, that appeared around the same time as my back pain. Dr. Wah took a serious interest in this possible relationship, unlike many western medical people who'd seemed to laugh it off as kooky neuroticism on my part. Well Yin Wah focused on the "stomach channel" using acupuncture, a small amount of herbal medicine, massage, and fun dietary changes (I needed to eat more spicy food, hot, with stronger more delicious flavors. No problem!) I guess she was right about weakening in my stomach channel, and what to do about it, because now I'm back, active, energetic, loving life instead of thinking about back pain all the time. Words cannot begin to express my gratitude for having met Yin Wha and May. They were and remain my healers. They have changed my life and my approach to health and living well. About two years ago desperate for relief from my anxiety and panic attacks and overwhelming stress I walked in. A bit afraid that it wouldn't work and terrified of needles but desperate for relief and I vowed to myself I would not take to western medicine, and I pray I never have to. In past years, my flu or cold usually end up with a serious cough. I tried different over the counter medicines. They either made me sleepy or kept me awake. The Chinese over the counter medicines couldn't help me stop cough either. I coughed in the subway or coughed at work non stop for minutes,it made me feel so helpless and embarrassed. The cough usually took more than one month to cure by itself. At the beginning of the year my son had a flu, I went to his place to take care of him. After that weekend I got the flu too and I coughed badly at the end. A few weeks ago, I came down with a sudden heavy Fever, My body temperature was sky high, my muscles sore, aching and swollen. as well as all the Symptoms of Influenza (Hacking Cough, Sneezing) I couldn't leave the bed for a few days, and would spend most of my day sleeping..had poor appetite, due to Head Pain and Exhaustion.. My Mother who was taking care of me at the time consulted Natural Health Specialist Yin Wah Chan, who has helped me ease Bowel Movement complications in the past with Acupuncture. I was a professional athlete for a long time and suffer from lower back pain. I have also had a bad reaction to a vaccination, resulting in a around-the-clock right shoulder pain. Not knowing how to position my arm was very discouraging and painful. This condition often drains my energy levels as well, but most of all, after numerous months of top-notch physical therapy, anti-inflammatory shots, naproxen sodium pills (horrible for your stomach), my condition had improved only slightly. I never write Yelp reviews but I want everyone to know about this wonderful center. I have just started seeing Yin Wah and I have a total of two acupuncture sessions. I started to visit Yin Wah after my OBGyn recommended acupuncture. Yin Wah has an extremely positive attitude regarding my issues, something which my reproductive endocrinologist lacks. She is patient, understanding and extremely positive. She has an in depth knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine which is reassuring. Since having two treatments (acupuncture and herbal medicine) I am very relaxed and I am sleeping better. Her positive attitude has rubbed off on me, I definitely feel better prepared for everyday challenges! I have been getting treatment with Yin Wah for over a year, I use it as a form of pain management, and because of my weekly visits, my work related pain, along with emotional stress, has been eliminated. I feel great and look forward to my weekly treatments. Recently, she has brought in another massage therapist who I have also been seeing on a weekly basis. His name is Abraham and he is wonderful! I have never had such immediate results from massage, I float out of there after 30 mins! He has an uncanny ability to find the trouble spots and uses meridian work to relieve painful areas. Yin Wah is an attentive and caring healer. I am new to acupuncture and am overjoyed with the results. Two or three issues that for years have been chronic sources of physical stress and pain disappeared completely after the first treatment. The outcome exceeded my expectations. My insurance covers most of the cost of each visit - making it possible for me to continue treatments (for some more stubborn issues) regularly, until they also resolve. I was not a believer in "alternative" medicine. However, I had problems with back pain. My brother had used acupuncture years ago for a problem in his hands with good result. So I thought "why not"? The acupuncture treatment really helped my back pain. Later, I have used Chinese medical herbs for help with colds and nausea. I definetly feel that the use of these herbs reduced my discomfirt. I was diagnosed with a chronic panic disorder in 2006. Since then, I have been taking Paxil and Clonazepam. Yin Wah Chan has helped me overcome my condition. I haven't had illnesses in the last two years. But in the past I had colds in the winter. When I have a cold out of control, I get acupuncture treatment from Yin Wah and it is helpful almost instantly. It is better than taking on-the-counter medicine, which always hurt my stomach later. Bless these wise women. I strained my back so badly that couldn't bear to stand up or walk. I knew it was a muscle strain, so I didn't want to go to urgent care and get a bunch of meds that will make me sick. My husband literally carried me in. By the time I was done with acupuncture and Tui Na massage I could stand again and I was able to walk (verrry) slowly back to the car. i first visited Yin Wah in Jan. 2020 to treat a lingering cough after a bad flu. (This was before Covid19 testing...) i had one acupuncture treatment and took the herbal tea and my cough was gone in a couple days! i've returned to boost my immunity for the months ahead. I started seeing Dr. Chan since december. At the time, I was always feeling tired and exhausted.
