The thing about Essentially Gourmet is that they are a catering service and that they provide food not only for events but for home meals like a Weight Watchers does. I was told that their food was healthy and homely, low in fat and high in goodness. When I ordered a large curry I was pretty impressed to see that there was more than enough food for two people at a cost of $17 dollars.

Her lovingly made cakes and tarts are sure to impress the socks off any dinner party guests. And don't you think you'll walk out of there with just a salad. Oh no, you'll do well not to give in to the temptation of a mouth-watering pastry or brownie. Go on, just try and not fall victim to those tasty morsels. I dare you. Jump on the escalator down and you're there. Ambience *** Fancy Fillings, boasting 'Gourmet Sandwiches' next to their neon sign, is on the very end of the foodcourt if you're coming from the Mall. It's sitting between a vacant lot and a 'Fresh' something (I could only see fruit salad on offer at this time of morning). The owner of FF has made as much use of space as humanly possible here, with fillings in full view of the customer, an espresso machine, drinks fridge, and you can see the sally and breakfast chef's cooking station if you're a bit taller than me. The laminated catering form on the front glass needs to go or be replaced, it's looking very sad; the chalkboard is chockers with what's on offer, however it looks cluttered - I'd rather see a specials board and a condensed price list which encompasses flavours into price groups. Products on offer **** Sambos of every type, here, on any bread you fancy. They serve breakfast until a reasonable 11am as well as their lunch menu from ~9am - could be and probably is earlier. Looking at some of the fillings through the glass, though, I'm concerned that they may be yesterday afternoon's fare from the way they look like they've been scraped out of the containers. It's plausible and standard practice at such places as Subway, so why not here? But they could do with smoothing these over when they get the chance instead of hovering over an unused espresso machine. Service ***** Morning smiles, on the ball, quick to action: everything was on par with good service; absolutely no complaints. They know their regulars here, as one fellow walked up behind me and the server simply asked him 'Sandwich?' and got to work as soon as he nodded at her. Food **** Today's breakfast was a bacon and egg bagel w/ BBQ sauce = $6.50. The only thing I didn't like was that poppy seeds were in excess; I'll be checking my teeth shortly! The egg was well cooked and the bacon hot hot hot; perfect amount of sauce, and quite the feasible on-the-run meal if they'd wrapped it to be eaten while walking. Overall After I've checked out a few other express breakfast places, I will probably turn back here unless I find somewhere else that blows my mind (hard to do with bacon and egg express service in the city!).

The food is fantastic, with notable menu items being the range of Paninis and salads, all of which are delicious. My personal favourite is the Thai noodle salad, a vegetarian option. This is one of those rare places where they don't skimp on the range of vegetables, which complement very nicely with the sweet Thai chilli-esque sauce used in the Thai noodle salad. The company actually make their own iced teas, which are wonderful, and there are a lot of places to sit in this cool new building (Entice Me recently relocated from a smaller location nearby). The atmosphere is funky: Entice Me is set up inside a converted warehouse building and has an airy feeling to it. Maybe it's the high loft-style ceilings. They're always busy at Entice Me Cafe but the staff never forget to be friendly. The food here is just as good if not better than restaurant chain Spoon, and a lot cheaper.

Dalton Hospitality had not long catered the first Brisbane Diner En Blanc and I'd been hearing Jerome's (Dalton's fearless leader) name and praise for his food left, right and centre. Dalton Hospitality is how I became to be one of those people who have their picnic catered. And you know what? I don't regret it for a second, and here's why. Following my initial enquiry with Jerome, he worked one-on-one with me to develop a casual picnic menu for the day and within my budget. Tick. On the day he went out of his way to meet me at the picnic location to deliver the food all presented in beautiful cane picnic baskets to add to the atmosphere. Tick. I still hadn't seen the food until myself and the Yelpers started tucking into the gourmet delights that awaited. To say there was more than enough food is an understatement. We were spoilt for choice from fresh garden salads, smoked salmon salad baguettes, anti-pasto platters with brie and my favourite - the chocolate tart which got better once it warmed up a little. It had a subtle jaffa taste to it. None of us left the picnic hungry. After the picnic, Jerome arranged a time to come and collect the picnic baskets. All no fuss and just part of the service. Exceptional. Jerome and the Dalton team were so easy to work with and I know that by comparison, this picnic was a small scale task for them, however I was never made feel like it was any less important. I would gladly put Dalton to the top of any list where catering was called for!
