I had a rat infestation issue under my stoop and Robert of Essential Pest Control did a great job of securing the space for me and preventing any further issues with the rats. I had tried a few other companies but none of them seemed interested in anything other than setting some bait stations and moving on. These people do NOT know how to identify bed bugs. They misdiagnosed us for 6 MONTHS leading to lots of pain and suffering and we could have just gotten rid of them last year if they had done their job. I'm ashamed that I've waited this long to review Robert and Essential Pest Control because they've deserved top marks forever. He's been coming to our coop for years now and has always been on time, has always kept in touch, been flexible and has been so extremely thorough with each check. We have a rolling appointment for building maintenance with him and where others would probably just dial in the work, he takes each visit seriously, as if it were the first. Our building has been really clear of pests for as long as I can remember beacuse they do such a complete job and he can tell you why you may occasionally see a bug here and there. When our landlord sent an "exterminator" (aka our super with a can of raid), our roach and ant problem did not get better (obviously). So I called Robert because he showed p on yelp, answered the phone, have good advice and was punctual. Like the other reviewer said, he is a total gentleman, and really knowledgable. He worked with us to come up w a preventative monthly plan and worked on budget too. Definitely recommend him for a problem I hope you never have. My only tip would be that they call or email appt reminders instead of mail-mail. I don't check mail these days and a few times been surprised when they show up. read more

I recently became worried that I might have bedbugs because I woke up with several bites on my body. After researching exterminators, I called Essential Pest Control. Robert returned my call and asked me to send to him any photos I found of bugs in my apartment. He reviewed photos I sent by email, and was calm and reassuring about my pest problem, assuring me that he saw no evidence of bed bugs though he did see spider beetles and evidence of roaches. The next day I sent another photo of bug debris from behind my sofa - again he responded with clear identification of what was in the photo and assured me "no bedbugs" never suggesting a service visit or a fee of any kind for his time and expertise. In the end, we spoke three times before I ultimately scheduled with him for a service in my apartment to address the roach activity. While here, Robert checked my bedroom for bedbugs and fleas (none) and serviced my kitchen and bathroom for roaches. Robert was kind, patient, informative, and professional. At no time was I given a hard sell or charged for consultation. I am happy to give my business to Essential Pest Control and recommend them highly to anyone who needs exterminator services. read more

Robert and his team did a top to bottom check of our new home mid-renovation and did preventative work for mice and water bugs (old evidence but no active issues). Robert is truly a life saver. Today I found what appeared to be a dead bedbug or the molted shell of a bedbug and I COMPLETELY panicked. I called three or four different exterminators who told me it would be weeks until they could see me before calling Essential Pest Control. Luckily I stumbled upon Essential Pest Control and gave them a call. The woman who answered was friendly and took down my info and said someone would get back to me. It didn't seem promising at first but Robert called me back within half an hour and talked me through my crazy freakout on the phone for 8 minutes (I couldn't get the other companies to talk to me for more than 1). He took the time to listen to my story and then very thoughtfully responded with his insights. He also let me email him a photo of the dead bug and told me he would take a look at get back to me within two hours. Almost exactly two hours later he gave me a call back and told me that judging by the coloration and leg joints that it was most likely a baby roach. He also took the time to discuss with me that my friend who has been sleeping on our couch for a few weeks would have most likely been bitten already if the dead bug I found was indeed a bedbug. Then Robert advised that I vacuum my couch twice a week for two weeks just to be safe. He is so polite, thoughtful and calming. I recommend Robert for absolutely any pest problem and will definitely come to him again. Thank you so much, Robert! read more
