The new lady that took over for Dee is soooo rude and awful! She sold things for Pennie's on the dollar so she did not do that family any justice for actually knowing the price and quality of their items which is what they were hired for. A lot of high dollar things that were very valuable, and then would not let me purchase things from her even after I tried many times and continued to tell me they would be donated and would not tell me where so I could get them from the new owners. All to find out all of these incredible vintage things were thrown in the dumpster when I was willing to pay for them, how awful and malicious can someone be to not let me give them cash for an item that I was so excited about and throw it away instead. I really enjoyed the old owner, nice and sincere and fun to chat with but this lady is so mean, many people left the sale talking about how rude she is..I see things have not changed considering her other reviews. read more

The original dee had a great reputation as an estate sales but the new lady who took over was absolutely horrible. The new lady who took over for the riverside house estate sale we went to was so rude to me and my daughter. She called the police on us. We have witnesses that said they have experienced the same thing with this woman.  She gave me attitude the first time I went there and even when I paid ahead for a desk. I came back today and she had the same attitude with me but with no one else. When we were loading waiting for the register to tally everything up She came over to me and said "you have to pay right now". We fully intended to pay we were just loading the desk we had already paid for and only one other thing out of 10 things we were going to buy, was loaded in the car.  I told her calm down I'm going to pay and she said no that's it you have to leave and refused us to buy the other things we wanted. It was extremely uncalled for as we were obviously going to pay. All of the things were on the table in the garage waiting for us besides one thing.  She called the cops and then went into our car to pull out the heavy item her workers helped us put in the car.  We stopped her from being inside our car and told the cops we were touching her. As we had to prevent her from being inside our car.  She prevented us from buying anything else and still told the cops we were refusing to pay.  We had two witnesses who stayed to help tell our side and the cops knew right away we weren't doing anything wrong and said we can go.  I hope you can help fix her horrible service. read more

They were given an area that was off limits, yet stole 3 items of mine from that area to put back into her items sorting before sale. The estate contained both items of the deceased as well as my personal belongings I had stored there for 20 plus years. I'm entitled to my belongings. They did allow a last minute sale. I did not have the suggested 3 weeks prep time, so they did work hard for the time they were given. They "sold" and item that they were told to remove because I was contractually obligated to keep on the property with the sale of the house. So she took 1000 for her half of the POTENTIAL commission. My real estate agent told her, minutes into the sale that it can't be sold. Items were priced either way too high or way too low. When items for 20 are selling for 150 on eBay and I noticed things from the Dollar Tree with a $2 price tag. Of course, this is all after the fact, since I was not allowed to touch or see pricing or have myself or anyone I know near the property during the sale and very strict during the set up. They mark a lot of items with tags, but when I got my statement no mention if what sold, just a total. She told me and text me that she would text before sending my check. That didn't happen. She mailed it to a different state along with the keys they didn't leave at the property. I live in another state, but figured I'd still be around when the check was issued. She said she mailed it the 24th, so it was too late. Post mark actually shows the 26th. So, I could have picked it up from her. Went to her estate sale this morning looked around most things priced toooo high estate sale right ? Not a store for retail prices. Kept looking for something but nothing worth there prices. Finally I ding a Rock speaker in the garage. I go wait in line to ask the price a hopefully buy it. Dee gets into a verbal argument with a customer over a payment (btw yelling back just escalates things ) soooo she hangs up on her customer and I am the next one me "I found this in the garage how much" thirty dollars. I went to one of her estates sales yesterday. The prices she had on things were high compared to other estate sales, some were even more than retail ($23 for a used bed pillow). I thought I would make an offer on an item, in which I was told "was not enough" and my offer was just thrown in the trash. Absolutely RUDE! I did call her about it, but she stated that was their policy , she didn't listen and talked over me the whole one-sided conversation. I won't waste my time again going to one of her sales. Shoddy organization and inadequate people skills. Today we were told that the sale was winding down and all items were "50% off." Presumably this statement applied to all items, except it was applied selectively. What is worse was the attitude and demeanor of the staff working near the "checkout" in the garage. What is most important to note is that but for the arrogance and discourteous, disrespectful, arrogant attitude of the fellow and lady working the checkout, we were prepared to clear out several items. They were not interested in even selling at the prices as promised per the 50% statement, and prices on non-marked items were not reasonable. But after the attitude, the prices were really irrelevant. We had no interest in even being present on the premises any longer, let alone trying to work out deals and leave money with these unprofessional and, frankly, miserable folks. I'm not sure who the owner of the estate sale today in Redlands was, but they might be interested to know that the staff figured they'd "just donate" the items rather than try to capitalize on a customer with a fist full of cash by offering respect and courtesy. My experience with estate sales has not been good all the way around, as too often the seller strives for retail or above prices on used items. However, never have I been treated so discourteously at an estate sale, a retail outlet, OR a yard sale. Someone in this business has a duty to the estate holder to capitalize on the goods in the estate in a manner that is reasonable, not with a "we'll just donate it," arrogant disposition. Part of that duty to the estate holder--and the public--is to act politely and with decency. I would suggest that the holder of an estate steer clear of this unprofessional operation. I cannot say for certain how the lack of simple pleasantries will impact potential customers at future sales, but I can say for certain I will never again entertain any sales put on by this shoddy amateur outfit. In the end, whatever money I would have spent on used items (which I don't really even need) still sits in my wallet. Frankly, I can afford to buy new, and the uncivil rude arrogance from the staff I can dust aside. But the family of the folks that entrusted Dee's team deserved better than that which was delivered today, and that is the travesty. Look elsewhere, folks. Dee's website mentions how to not "leave money on the table." There was plenty left there today, and frankly it had little to do with the money and everything to do with the bad attitude and lack of organization. read more

Beware of false advertising. Today the first day of a sale and the start time is 9:00 AM so I arrived at 8:50 AM and lo and behold people are already loading trucks with furniture. I walked into the garage and found many people with boxes and bags loaded with items. I have been to estate sales where as you arrive you sign up on a list. At 9:00 AM sharp you are allowed inside by your position on that list. A true first come first served way of doing things. What I saw here is a cast system whereas if you are in the Dee group you get preferential treatment. Maybe get notified that certain items are available and are allowed inside way earlier than the regular crowd. Beware also that they like to put black ink on black items such as tools and only they can see the prices at the pay table. I know that Sharpie has a silver ink marker but that would mean that their inflated prices, near retail, would not be accepted. read more

I 100% agree with Surly G. The woman who owns this "so called business" is one of the nastiest and un caring people I have ever came in contact with. Not only was she unprofessional but she was mean and bitter and seemed to only care about what she was getting out of it. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about this transition DO NOT use Dee. She's an older woman who talks a good talk until you sign on the dotted line. After that the horns come out and her true colors surface revealing a very unprofessional and in my opinion unhappy and bitter old woman who , unless she learns some compassion, needs to hang up her hat and let the real professionals do this job. This estate sale totally refused to bargain on prices. They were running the thing like a retail store, even adding taxes if you use card to pay. All the items are overpriced for an estate sale setting and they would only accept full sticker prices. The all sacred art of bundling means nothing at Dee. I would never consider going to another estate sale run by Dee and neither should you. My wife and I were prepared to spend $30 on 8 books, a map, and a photo album because, you know, it's supposed to be an estate SALE. Dee and her staff was amazing. Moving from a home we built, raised 4 children and several grandchildren for almost 30 years seemed daunting. She provided information, steps, tools and positivity to what we assumed would be a disagreeable process. In the end it went very well with great results and speed. Moving is stressfu! We moved from Riverside and downsized to a smaller home on the Central Coast. I had no idea what to do with a houseful of furniture, decor, clothes, etc.. A friend recommended Dee Lause. That night my husband came home and said "I met a guy today and he and his wife do Estate Sales, his name is Dennis Lause" ! That was a sign. Dee invited me to come to an Estate Sale that she was conducting and I was so impressed. She was so friendly, knowledgeable, professional. She treated us and our house with the utmost respect. I had already started cleaning out drawers and cabinets and she took over. Her crew was excellent, they were well trained. I moved away a few days before the sale with complete confidence in her. When it was over she donated what was left to various charities, made sure the house was clean and ready for the new owners. She gave us a written recap of the sale, receipts for the charitable contributions and of course a very nice check, beyond my expectation. I cannot say enough about this wonderful lady, truly a blessing to us in a very stressful time. read more

A very poor example of how estate sells should be ran. We were onsite a bit early for the opening which was advertised at a specific time. Low and be hold people already loading up bags with marked, priced items. Hmmm, speacial picked items for friends and and family I suppose. I was treated on the way in could not believe the pricing, I felt most items were above fair market or even retail pricing. As I was checking online for pricing on some items a worker and a perfectly timed plot were discussing the value and possible sale of said item/items. I decided to walk away and pay close attention to the two and the same tactic was used on another couple. At that point I was finished. I decided out of coureousty to check in another estate sell of theirs a few weeks later. I showed couple days early and a day earlier to see the goings on of sale and preparation. I was stunned to to see that speacil sales were being made and money exchanging hands then items being loaded up. Obviously some or most estate sales have a following of speacial customers and speacial deals are being made. I now will not attend any sale this company has got their name attached to. It's a business yes I understand, but this business is capitalizing on a family tragedy in the most despicable way. Be honest and do honest work. Give everyone a fair chance. read more

I normally love going to Estate sales and buying some good stuff at good prices. If lucky on the last day when you get 50% off - you get some good deals. I really enjoy Dee's estate sales. They are a little on the pricey side, but they do take bids on the higher priced items. If you pay by card, you will be charged tax because they have to declare it to the state, so bring your checkbook or ask them to hold items while you get cash (they will). Do know that sometimes the attitudes run high, so just smile and joke around. There are items they won't make deals on--but those are for very special items and usually priced by the initial seller. You can find some real treasures at her sales though--I got a 100+ year old spinning wheel in excellent condition for $70 (offer made and accepted). read more
