First let me start off by saying this review took a lot of thought and consideration prior to posting.my two children were going to her daycare no more than 2 months. My experience with Estela before my traumatic encounter with her in June 2013 was good, no complaints and everything was smooth with her. My older son even said he enjoyed going to her house because he had friends there and everything was nice. Then in June my 9 month old son came home with a bump on his head in which I texted her questioning the bump and why I wasn't informed. Estela called me hours later with 4-5 different scenarios , luckily I had just asked my older son to come in from playing outside 5 mins prior to her call and he had over heard me speaking with Estela regarding the baby's bump. My older son then interrupted me to say the their was a woman in a white shirt ( her older daughter ) that was holding the baby and then he heard a Big Bang and then he looked over and the baby was on the floor crying. As you can image my emotions were in a rage, confusion and i was caught off guard as i had no prior issues or concerns with her. This was/is completely overwhelming for the entire family to wrap our minds around. I then asked my older son where Estela was when this happened? he said she was in the kitchen. I then asked what did she do when she seen the baby was on the floor crying? He said Estela just picked him up and put him in the walker and let him cry it out. I then asked and the daughter, what did she do? He said , she just looked around to see if anyone seen her drop the baby. Ahhhhhhhhhh! When I got back on the phone to confront her on the issue brought forth , again 4-5 different scenarios. The story she was mainly sticking to and she wasn't sure " probably " was the word use that " probably he hit his head on the table while he was in the walker and he cried for a second , but he wasn't crying for long so I didn't think it was a big deal" ( her words, not mine) I then went on to tell her if in fact that was the case, no matter how much you might not think its a big deal- regardless he's a 9 moth old INFANT , not toddler or older... INFANT! And her being a child care provider should know especially with infants a bump to the head should always be reported to the parent for overnight observation , in the case the bump was more severe and the impact was worse then she thought. What if I would have been a mother to write this incident off and not acknowledged it... I would have unknowingly put my son to sleep only to find the next morning he was gone (dead) and It could have been prevented. I just want to warn other parents considering this provider to please just be cautious. Again prior to this incident she was good, but the fact is she didn't let me know - even if it would have been as simple a head bump on the table. She belittled the situation and for that I could never trust her again. To me it seemed like she was more concerned about protecting her license then the well being of my baby. I guess this one of those situations where I will never know 100% sure of what happened, but I know that I'm not willing to make the same mistake twice, which is why I withdrew both of my children. Our children are our lives and we need to protect them. If we don't , who will! I hope this helps! read more
