We cannot say enough good things about Doan and her program. Our kids went to a well-run preschool before we discovered NEST, and although that was a good option, the quality of care, ratio, teaching philosophy both academics and learn through play as well as life skills provided by NEST are far more exceptional than I could ever expect in a preschool. Like most parents, we had reservations in general about in-home child care. Before knowing about her school, we got to know Doan through a neighborhood group and through our relationship learned how kind and reliable she is as a person. From a profession standpoint, Doan has a Master degree in Child Development and had experience teaching at Stratford and other well established schools. The business is fully licensed. We had a tour and interview in December 2022 when my son was 2.5 years old, and the rest was history. A day at Nest starts with circle time, a walk to a nearby park where they get to spend plenty of time outdoor, play on the playground (I have a smile on my face every time I think of the image of our kids and their friends holding hands walking to the park together), when there's rain they get to put on little rain coats and play in the puddle, or make homemade cookies, smoothies and enjoy together, or other times they get to do gardening and learn about butterflies, bees, and pollinators. She teaches the kids to appreciate and protect the earth and the environment. They celebrate different cultures and develop kindness towards one another. Doan also invites each family to a private Facebook group where we get to see photos of the kids and their activities each day. This is the best part for me, as I look forward to seeing what my kids are doing while away from them. I often say to Doan, I wish I had a childhood full of experience and memories like these little kids. Doan's teaching philosophy is learn through play, and if that's what you are looking for, you are going to love NEST. Doan pays a lot of attention to the development of each child. My son barely talked when he started at NEST, he had troubles with certain pronunciation and to bear on the safe side, Doan made sure she informed me timely to check with his physician. Today, he is a confident 5 year old boy who is well prepared to start his next chapter at grade school. My heart is so full with Ms. Doan's Nest Childcare. I had to go back to work full time and had to find a place for my preschooler. I spoke to two other daycares before Ms. Doan and let me just say, I knew instantly that this was going to be the best place for my littlest. The atmosphere is so welcoming, safe, loving, enjoyable, and full of knowledge and fun! Ms. Doan also employs teacher helpers who have been amazing with not only my child but all the children. My son started at Nest Childcare when he was 18 months old, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. I thought I should update my review of Nest, as now both my kids have gone through the program (and we have spent a combined almost 6 years there!). Nest is truly a special find. My kids love co Doan--my 7-year-old still asks to go back! The program is small enough to have an intimate feel but there are more than enough kids so that the kiddos can really learn how to socialize and make friends. There is structure in the kids' days, including circle time, walks to the park, and learning activities. Doan has a degree in early childhood education, and it shows. She is always in tune with the kids' emotions and development and offers suggestions to tackle big feelings (hello, terrible twos and threenagers...). And an extra plus -- Doan helped both my kids with potty training! The only reason we are leaving Nest is because my youngest kiddo is going off to TK this year. I'm really sad to leave. Nest was truly the best place for my kids to learn, grow, and develop. We drive 20 minutes away from home so that my child can attend Nest Childcare. We are on our second year here. Aside from developing creative lesson plans, she is extremely organized, great with communication and very receptive to feed back. She is a licensed provider with a Masters in Early Childhoold Education. If you believe a child learns and works through play, then this is the place for your family. The kids are constantly outside in nature, rain or shine. Spare clothes are sent home because they've been muddied, painted on or wet. They are constantly baking or crafting, always a project the children are working on. Co Doan is even committed to her students and families outside business hours. My child is thriving here because everything is tailored to their development and personality. Both of my kids attended nest up until they were ready for grade school. Co Doan is absolutely phenomenal. I honestly do not even know where to begin. Nest childcare is the perfect environment for a child before they reach grade school. Co Doan comes with an exceptional resume as a previous teacher at Stratford and I believe director of another school. She knows her stuff! But on top of that she's patient, kind, loving, thoughtful, etc.... I can really go on and on. My biggest regret was not finding her sorry . Every activity they do is with intention. There is a perfect balance between learning and playing. The kids are kept busy and there's absolutely no screen time. I wish I could have Co Doan as a teacher for my kids still to this day. Most importantly my kids really loved it there. They love having opportunities to go see Co Doan to this day. On the occasion they will tell me they miss her and their Nest friends. Nest goes above and beyond what you would expect from a daycare. It's a play-based school but the kids have a focus each week. They learn SO much and bring home all sorts of creative and educational projects. Our child, who could barely talk when we first started, came home spelling their name and memorizing songs in just a few weeks after attending. The entire place is well set up and thoughtfully planned, from the inside to the backyard. The location of the daycare is great because it's walking distance to playgrounds and some beautiful foothills. The kids go on little hikes, walk to the playground, do science experiments, garden, play games, art projects-and we get to see photos and videos of their activities regularly! Being first-time parents, we were nervous about daycare but Doan, the owner, really eased us into the process (for both child AND parent). We felt like we're in good hands the whole time. For example, after a tearful dropoff, we'd get texted a photo of our child happily playing once we left and a few updates after that. Doan is a friendly, loving, and warm person who is a miracle worker with our kid. She makes everything sound fun and exciting while still carrying a solid sense of authority. We were also delighted to learn that she stays current with latest education research/training. This is a home based childcare, which a rare one that you could expect a very structured loving day care, plus a very organized play based preschool. Me and my husband love NEST and we are really happy to be part of NEST family. It's been a year since our son started going to nest. We started when he was just over two years old. We are so very glad and grateful that we found Doan. As first time parents sending child to daycare , we were very anxious , he never left our side until that point. Mornings were so difficult, he used to cry a lot and throw up in the end. We were not sure how he was going to cope up. But let me tell you , doan handled it so pretty well. She took really good care of him that within days my son stopped crying , stopped throwing up. My son is really excited to go to Nest now . A truly exceptional program. Our son has been attending Nest for the past 3 years since he was 21 months old. When he started, he didn't talk much and wasn't potty trained. Within months of being at Nest, his speech improved dramatically and he was out of diapers during the day. Our son has truly lived his best life at Nest. He's excited to go to school everyday and he frequently comes home telling us what fun activity they did that day in addition to what he learned. ​D​oan provides a fantastic blend of primarily unstructured play with plenty of trips to the park, with multiculturalism, health, current events, music and the environment sprinkled in. Most of the time, the kids are outside and absolutely no TV time. Doan doesn't even own a TV! When searching for a daycare, my first question was if the kids watch TV and 100% of providers said yes. This is why tuition at Nest is worth every penny. This is our last month at Nest and it is very bittersweet. While we know Doan has more than prepared our son to be successful in TK, we will miss ​the low student to teacher ratio, the play based learning and fantastic community that Doan has established. To say the least, I wish we would've found them sooner. In a few short months, our toddlers have excelled. I have 3 sons and our youngest went to Nest for almost 2.5 years (her business was not open with our 2 older kids). We have experienced several child care providers and can say without a doubt Doan and her staff are the best you will ever find. Seriously, the best - we cried when we said our goodbyes as we decided to move out of the area . We are finding a new school for our child in our new area and had to stop comparing child care providers to Nest simply because no one can come close to the level of care they provide. To start, Nest is second to none when it comes to weaving in play with learning. They have nature-based education ranging from a backyard garden where the children learn about simple things such as where their food comes from and grow plants (including fruits and vegetables). They learn about lifecycles, weather, etc. with tangible items, art, books, playtime, really everything. Doan's ability to teach all students while making it fun and applicable is the holy grail in teaching - I know it's a lot of hard work on her end that happens behind the scenes. Our family loves to be outdoors and we love that Doan and her staff take the children outside a lot. You give them extra changes of clothes and they will certainly use them when the time calls for it as the children have a great time being outdoors and explore their natural surroundings. The staff there also love the children and have a great way of interacting with them. No one is ever rude or short with the students even after a long week - their patience and caring nature comes through genuinely and without a doubt they love all the students. We have seen with our older kids how a lot of preschools and day care providers say they do something but you don't see it translate to what they actually do in the classroom for whatever reason. You won't find that with Doan - she makes sure to implement her curriculum and I can't thank her enough for helping my child learn so much and be so expressive. I am always blown away by his vocabulary and tactile skills - something I attribute very heavily to Doan. The hard part is seeing if she has room for her child because in my experience once folks find her, their child is NOT leaving until they get to kindergarten. But really, having searched for weeks not being assured, Nest Daycare was a blessed find. My daughter attended Nest Childcare at 2-years-old, up until 4-years-old. Doan, the provider, taught my daughter how to count not only up to 20, but in Vietnamese and English at the age of 3! I adored Doan's teaching style, where she incorporated developmental theory, fine, and motor development exercises in her class.
