This Four-Star review is not about Estes as a shipping company; it is Baltimore Termian customer service report of my one interaction today. Due to rail delay, my shipment did not arrive in Harrisburg, PA soon enough to make it to the Baltimore Estes Terminal in order to make my 8:00 am - 4: 00 pm scheduled curbside delivery today. Calling just to check on progress, I discovered my delivery was delayed. This isn't the employee's fault nor within their control (this is an IT/systems need within Estes). The lady that took my call in Baltimore was wonderful, polite & efficient. I'm posting this here because Estes has nearly 100% One-Star reviews - some bordering on ad-hominem/personal attacks. I suggest factually results-oriented communication will produce better results and maligning individuals with no control over an outcome to be inappropriate. I've contacted this management to suggest/request automation that easily fixes this problem. Currently, Lowes uses Estes & if this defect is not remedied there is a chance Estes will be dropped as a consumer delivery modality for Lowes (and potentially Home-Depot). If I could give less I would. We ordered an in-stock Evaporative Cooler May 30 from Lowes Home Store. We were emailed the tracking info with a date of 6/15 for delivery. We check online and it states Estes received the cooler 6/10 and would deliver it 6/15. 6/15 comes and now the online system shows we'll receive it 6/18. Friday the 18th comes and its updated to say delivery for Monday 6/21. Monday comes and we check on it, and it now states delivery for Tuesday 6/22. I call today and the CSR tells me he called the center and was told delivery would be Wednesday 6/23 instead. Now I'm angry. Its been over 100 degrees and we have been doing our best to protect our employees from the heat! While on hold they have a recording about their guarantee to deliver on time.... yeah of course they can guarantee it, they simply change it every day!!! I asked about the guarantee and was told it doesn't apply to this situation and the CSR couldn't even guarantee we would receive it Wednesday. I live an hour from Lubbock, so they don't want to waste fuel coming out here just for our delivery and are likely waiting to bring more than one item. WHY DO I NEED TO WAIT to help their expenses? They took on this job and then won't finish it on a timely basis!! I have asked my other vendors to never use this company for items I order. I would rather pay extra than to use a company who cannot deliver things on a timely basis and is more concerned with their bottom line than with good customer service. BTW the CSR was good, unfortunately, he was stuck dealing with an angry customer and could not resolve my issues at all. read more

I am in urgent need of material I ordered from Home Depot to make my home handicap accessible for my mother in law who is now unexpectedly living with us. While I understand shipping levels are unprecedented due to COVID, your resource management issue has now impacted our lives. I was originally told the material would be leaving PA on its way to MA today. It's been loaded on a truck sitting there for five days. I've called multiple times today only to receive excuses and inaction. I work for a defense contractor and even with COVID we were held to a very tight schedule where recovery plans were instituted to keep things on track. You really don't have a valid excuse other than your poor organizational and resource management. You have FAILED! read more

Called me to set up a delivery window of 3 hours. I made sure to leave work early (ie take time off work) in order to be there for the start of the window. I also arranged two friends to be available to help me carry the delivery (a hot tub). Waited for the full 3 hours and no delivery! Called the contact number and reached a voicemail. read more

Ordered was picked up on 3/31/22 and last scanned at Estes KC on 4/1/22. Long story short, customer service could care less that the delivery went missing. Order ended up being misdelivered. Still waiting for the order to be picked up from the wrong location and moved to the right one. CS claims to have no knowledge of this happening. Told me to hire a different carrier if I'm in charge of my own business and not satisfied. Left message for a supervisor with NO return phone call. AVOID THIS COMPANY if possible. Was scheduled to receive a delivery between 9 and 3. At 3:30 I called Estes to get status. Was told my product was delivered that morning. Found my furniture sitting on the end of my driveway just off the road. It had been sitting there ALL day. They had my cell and never called. I finally got a delivery text while I was on the phone at 3:30. Terrible service. read more

This company was the best choice for moving across the country . It was so much cheaper than any other company ( i paid 5500 for 28 feet of space to go from california to virginia , other quotes ranged from 8k to 15k , 8k being a transport only , and 15k being a full service that includes packing all your belongings, loading and unloading ) . The only bad thing is experienced was quite a few of my things got a black soot on them ( i assume it was old dry grease dust from the metal retaining bars that are installed on the walls) , and that was also the only complaint i could find from previous customers. My advice to anyone using them would be to cover everything in some type of plastic covering or moving blankets . It was nothing to bad but was still an inconvenience . The trailers themselves are very convenient , there are permanently installed retaining bars that slide up and down from the ceiling about every 2 feet so you can secure your things . All the walls have slots for ratchet straps and they also include their own straps and several extra removable retaining bars for you to put where needed . The floors are wood so you can also nail or screw things straight i to the floor which is very useful. If you do not fill the whole truck , they will most likely use the unused portion ( there is a giant plastic wall that goes up against your belongings to section it off) but they assured me that they will only put commercial items like amazon or home depot items etc, and promise to never sell the unused space to any residential customers. Also once your things are on the truck , they promise only estes employees will be accessing it to possibly load a commercial item for transport ( this is how they are able to ship your items as cheaply as possible) read more

I was told on Friday 6/11/21 that my shipment would be delivered on Monday 6/14/21 between 11am - 3pm. On 6/14 after I hadn't received my shipment by 2pm, I decided to call, which I kept getting disconnected multiple times before getting someone to answer the phone. I was told it was still on the truck and had not been unloaded yet. I took time off of work to receive my expensive order and not one phone call was given to me to update me. HORRIBLE company! This one experience with them has been exhausting, stressful, and disappointing. First, my package was noted as delivered when it hadn't been. This wasn't too alarming for me because I have heard this sometimes happens but when I called to check on my package, I was led to believe it might be lost and was given a number to another department. When I called that department, I was waiting on the phone line for over an hour. From what I understand now, that department was probably closed in which the agent who gave me the information did not indicate this possibility. Once I received my package, it was damaged (no fault of Estes) so an arrangement was made for Estes to pick the package back up. This is where the real nightmare begins. To make a long story short, it has been two weeks and still no pick up! Whenever I call the local number, they have no record of my pick up but when I call the 800- number, they do. I was finally given a tracking number and since, several pick up dates have been arranged with no follow through! Today was the final straw! I was told they would pick up today, but the nonchalant agent told me she could not give me an estimated time! Another run-around! The people who work for this company, especially the local office in Houston, TX have the most dry, unprofessional, uncaring attitude I have ever seen! There is no accountability and they care nothing about going above and beyond to satisfy their customers/clients! It's pathetic! I placed an order from Home Depot for a 20gal air compressor on May 28th. Item was estimated to arrive on June 7th. This was a father's day gift, and so I was feeling good that I'm on top of things this year. I eagerly wait for the item to arrive on June 7th. Come that day, I waited till evening, only to find that the item is now schedule to arrive the following day. Bummer! Gotta wait another day now. Evening of June 8th, I get another update that it is scheduled for delivery the next day or two. Wow, that sucks, more waiting. Come the next two days, I get another update saying it will arrive next week. I call Estes to check and the rep I spoke with said that the item is now traveling "unmanifested", whatever the hell that meant, and she said she would call me back once she finds out more information (she never called back). I followed up with an email to Estes and the person responding said they would alert the terminal destination, which would "prompt" them to deliver it faster. Tuesday, June 15th, and I still haven't received my shipment. I called Estes again, and now the guy I spoke with said he could not locate the item and that it is most likely lost. An air compressor, 20 gallons, weighing over 100 pounds, is lost in transit. This is my first experience with Estes, as I've never heard of them before that. So I googled them, and surely enough, I'm not the only one experiencing this madness. It's unfortunate, how picking up and dropping things off can be so challenging for this company. I hope they go out of business, as I will avoid them at all cost in the future. I don't mind if it takes time for delivery, but I just am sick to my stomach that I'm being fed NUMBEROUS estimated dates. Stick to Fed Ex, UPS, and USPS! read more

Had two drivers in one truck come to my job. I had 5 pallets to load me and my coworker was the only ones in the warehouse today 03/26/21. To my disbelief the two drivers didn't want to load the pallets by handtruck which they had in the back in the truck for loading and ask if I can push them in one after the other behide pushing them with the forklift. I said no if the product brakes that's on me. I then had to load the truck myself with their handtruck. Very Unprofessional i wish i got the names of the two. read more

If I could give it a zero star, I would. I purchased an item from Costco.com and the delivery service is through Estes Express Lines. I got the delivery tracking number promptly from Costco and started to track my package to ensure I have enough people to help with my item. According to Estes Express Lines website, it shows the package will arrive on 12/27/2018. Nowhere on the Este website states the delivery date is when the package arrives at the Estes' warehouse (according to Estes' representative and scheduler when I called at 4:55 PM PST on 12/27/2018). I spend the entire day at home waiting for the delivery. Now I am told the delivery will not be made until Monday 12/31/2018. What a waste of a day! Now I have rearranged my entire Monday. The Estes website should clearly state estimate delivery date to Este warehouse. I can see why Estes received poor reviews on numerous social media outlets. Stay away, and if you have to use them, call them and ask them for more specifics. read more

When I took their survey I let them know I would be writing this review. I also let them know they could contact me if they wanted to make things right and I wouldn't put the review up, but they didn't, so here it goes. I used Estes when I moved from Arizona to Michigan. I thought the price was fair until I had to replace a lot of items. They mentioned nothing of insurance while I was setting up my order so make sure you bring it up! When I opened up the partition separating my items from their freight I was shocked and bewildered at how much stuff moved. I'm not sure how it was even possible for things to move as much as they did. I was bummed about a few items, but mostly about my clavinova, which is an electric piano, that got really damaged. I called multiple times, spoke with multiple people, filled out claim paperwork, and they denied it. They only would help pay for an item if it was catastrophic damages which means if their trailer had a water leak or broke or something. They have no idea how their drivers drive. If they go over potholes, slam on the brakes, how fast they take turns. This clavinova my dad got me for graduation and he just passed so I wanted help replacing it. After they denied my claim I called back twice and spoke with Ben, I believe, who said they would call me back and never did. I see their trucks everywhere so I know they have the money to at least help a little bit when they damage a person's belongings, but what are you going to do. They don't care. read more

I wish I could give less than 1 star. They had a playset I ordered from Lowes since the 13th of June. I had to make multiple calls to Lowes and Estes to finally get a scheduled delivery date of the 23rd of June and they never showed up. When I called they said Lowes canceled it. So I call Lowes and they say no they didnt. I just spent 2.5 hours on the phone and then Lowes said Estes canceled it and now I have to wait 10 business days to get my $1000 back. Absolutely the most incompetent shipper you could ever use. Ordered a $1000 Mastergrill Gravity Feed Grill from Walmart and they used Estes. Estes showed up and delivered a kids toy truck on my door step instead of the grill. Luckily I opened the door as the driver was getting ready to leave. At this time they still don't have any idea what happened to the grill that was supposed to get delivered. Best guess might be that an Estes employee is having a barbeque!! read more

I ordered a 72" vanity with granite countertop from build.com. Build.com contracted Estes to deliver. Per build.com instructions, the delivery company will contact to me and inform me the date for delivery. One day I got home from work, a huge box sits in the rain next to my garage door. There's no phone call, no email or text, no heads up, just a surprise. This thing weights over 600 lb and I have no way to move it into my garage. I called Estes services number and asked help to move it; however Estes operator refused. Based on Estes operator, they only responsible to delivery, and because COVID, no recipient signature required. The installation is scheduled next week and the $3000+ vanity has already been soaked in Spring rain for a week. I have no idea why build.com uses Estes service. One of our vendors used Estes for a delivery, and boy am I glad they won't be anymore. They needed to delivery a pallet of keyboard trays - these things go for more than $150 each. The driver completely ignored the dispatcher instructions to call before he got on site because it was a tricky basement delivery. My first warning that something was wrong was that the guy showed up in our 5th floor lobby with a dolly-load of trays. The driver was really slow (not a language barrier) I couldn't get him to follow basic directions like "Stay here" and "Follow me." We get downstairs, and it turns out when he got here, he broke open the pallet, loaded a third of them onto the dolly and left the rest of them blocking the elevator - free if anyone wanted to help themselves. The dispatcher was fine, but their delivery guy left a lot to be desired. Would not use again. read more

Was scheduled for a pickup on 1/19/2022 in Phoenix Arizona. The pickup time window was 12-5pm. Contacted Estes Express and a driver wasn't even assigned to my order yet, mind you it was 4:30pm. Dispatch assured me someone would be there to pickup, as Home Depot was there biggest customer and would very leave an order at the warehouse. Mind you this is a FTL with 20 Pallets of inventory. Ordered a plow for my truck. It has been sitting in Casper, WY for 9 days. I know the weather has been bad for 3 of those days so it's understandable it may be 3 days late. But why 9 total days? Casper is literally a 9 hour drive from where I live. I ordered from home depot and will not order large freight from them again if they use estes because my time is valuable I need the plow and here it has set for 9 days. Very poor service - I have spent about two hours over the past week trying to get a residential delivery. I did not choose Estes and would not choose them. Their excuse is that they use a "local, last-mile" delivery service. Just because a company subcontracts a major part of their business does not make them less responsible for it. They are choosing to do this rather than to deliver it themselves, and they are just as responsible for deliveries not being on time. Also, their own customer service is unhelpful, with long wait times on the phone and transfers to people who do not pick up, followed by the line disconnecting. Management needs to hire more customer service staff and if they are going to coordinate with subcontractors they need to pick ones that actually make deliveries. It's not an excuse to say "we hire someone else" to do the most important part of your business: actually making the delivery to the destination. Horrible delivery service. On 3/17/2023, delivery driver called 15 minutes out from arriving at my house to tell me he will not be able to lift the heavy boxes off of his truck and will need assistance!! Someone must be there to help him get the items off of the truck. I live alone and cannot lift boxes 100lbs + off of a truck. Nor should I be required to have someone there waiting around for a delivery. We work for a living!! The items were put on the truck with a forklift and his delivery truck had a lift. He said they only do 1 person deliveries and they ask customers on a regular basis to assist. WHAT!! I don't work for your company. The website says standard delivery is placement of items in your driveway. He was unable to do the minimum service for delivery. I called Estes to complain and they said items being placed in the driveway was considered "White Glove Service" and they would need to get in touch with Lowe's to have another company deliver the item. I am shocked. Email and text message also state "no signature" required at delivery. If no signature is required then why do I need to be there to help the driver. Does not make sense. The first treadmill they refused to deliver and marked it as "customer return" which was false, the company did not pick it up from the Amazon warehouse. My second treadmill they held for weeks in the warehouse without delivering to the other shipping company causing a 2 week delivery delay, when Amazon finally decided to call Estes, Estes told them they deliver what is loaded at the front of the warehouse and it does not matter what items were first. If I could give them a -10 review I would. I feel I need to add my friends/neighbor ordered the same treadmill after me and theirs got delivered on time and weeks prior to mine. read more

If I could select zero stars I would. Ordered tile from Home Depot. Scheduled deliver for a Friday between 9-3. No show, no call. Monday morning called Estes in Phoenix. I was told truck had lift gate problems and could not deliver. She would try to call me later that afternoon and reschedule delivery for following day. Never heard back. Called them the following day, Tuesday, and left a message, no return call. Called the next day, Wednesday, same thing. Called the next day, a Thursday and was told they would have to do a dock search which could take 48 to 36 hours. I don't understand-2 to 3 days to see if they can find something they had scheduled for delivery? Why didn't they start the dock search on Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday??? If I didn't call when were they going to do the search? My entire job is on hold and I can't even reschedule anyone because I don't know where my tile is. Oh yes and of course I've already paid. Home Depot needs to find a new company to work with. Terrible customer service. Maybe they don't get paid enough? I purchased two area rugs from Capel Rugs which used Estes to ship. The first one delivered had a large dent on the plastic covering of the rolled rug. I returned it to Capel and they unrolled it. A 4 inch gash went through 3 layers of the rug. It looked like it was stabbed with a sword. A month later I received the second rug. This was delivered with one end exposed (without plastic). It was filthy from the shipping. I will be returning this rug tomorrow morning. ESTES is 0 for 2. I would never personally use them for any shipping needs. read more

I am happy I made the decision to use Estes Sure Move for my relocation from North Carolina to California! From the moment I requested to load an Estes trailer in North Carolina, until I arrived at my destination 2,500 miles away, Estes Sure Move conducted my moving project with competence and the highest integrity. (1) Their original estimate was reasonable -- actually, the amount was half of what nationwide movers and other shippers quoted. (2) Sure Move team members helped me set up my project, and sent me the contract and other shipping documents by e-mail. Telephone and online team members were always available to answer questions, not just in the beginning of the move, but throughout the process. I spoke with various members of Sure Move telephone personnel several times during the move and afterwards. (3) At the end of November 2018 in NC, I packed my own boxes and loaded the freight trailer myself, so I was well aware of the exact amount of space I used to stack boxes. One of their yard fellows helped me with getting the straps onto the partition correctly and securing the partition. (4) Happily, the trailer arrived at the new address in California during the second week of December, on the day and at the time the dispatchers said it would be there. There were no hidden fees upon arrival, no ballooning invoice. I unloaded the trailer; an Estes driver came and picked it up the next day. (5) And, because of the excellent drivers I worked with in NC and CA, I have confidence in this company to preserve and protect my belongings in a long-distance shipping situation. If it becomes necessary to move a long distance again, I will be using Estes Sure Move. I just had the worst delivery experience with Estes that I've ever had with a transportation company. I was told that I needed to be at home for a 4-hour window so that they could deliver heavy glass doors. They kept the doors in their depot for 10 days before they were delivered. After waiting for several hours, Estes left them in my yard because they no longer bring deliveries into homes. The doors weigh over 100 pounds. The person who unloaded the truck was incredibly rude and the box was very banged up. When I called and spoke to a manager, he said that they no longer deliver inside of homes because they don't want to be responsible for damages. read more

This company was a disaster. They moved me from Florida to Chicago and when my stuff arrived it was either broken or filthy. Everything was covered in black dirt and anything that could be broken was. I heard that they moved my stuff in the same trailer as fruits and vegetables that were filthy and the dirt got all over my stuff and ruined 80% of what I shipped. Whoever was driving must have been driving like they were nuts. They don't care about your stuff at all. I should have paid more and gone somewhere reputable because now it's costing me 3 times as much to replace what they ruined which was most of my stuff. read more

Horrible customer service. Home Depot is using them to ship my snow blower to my home from an online purchase. Newburgh Terminal (20 minutes from my home) received the delivery on Feb 12. I called on Feb 12 and Estes told me they were sending it from their commercial to their residential "Final "Mile" department - it takes 24 to 48 hours but they'll call to set an appointment. After not getting any delivery or information from Estes, I called Home Depot on Feb 17 to ask for their help. Estes never transmitted from commercial to residential. Home depot had them call me and they promised delivery on Feb 19. Today is Feb 19 and no delivery. Called Estes and was told they were closed yesterday. What did that have to do with delivery today? They hung up on me when I asked. Called Home Depot again and they promised delivery on Monday, Feb 22. Like every business, they are claiming COVID and weather delays. Neither of those two explain no telephone call to update the receiver that no delivery is forth coming, nor does it excuse hanging up the telephone on me. Home Depot told me that every delivery they've used Estes for is having similar issues and their corporate offices are investigating. I'd bet that Home Depot is a big contract.
