I was very impressed with Mr. Chestnut as he investigated and prepared a report detailing everything that had gone wrong with my previous project. He works very efficiently, underbilled his time, and was very fair with his appearance fee. Most importantly, though, based on his background, vast experience, and the impartial report he prepared, Mr. Chestnut was accepted by the Arbitrator (who himself is an industry expert) as an impartial expert in my case. Mr. Chestnut is very sharp and well spoken, and with his testimony we were able to prove our case. Mr. Chestnut was particularly adept at not being bullied, or allowed to be mislead, by the opposing attorney (who pretty much lied about everything, and made outrageous claims). So this is my story, in the fall of '23 I moved from North Carolina to Spokane. I purchased a twenty year old house that still had the original paint on the walls. And senior citizens had lived in it all that time, so it kinda looked like it was from the 80s. Being the HGTV fan that I am, I needed a handyman and a paint brush. So I went to the internet. I found Burgan Home Services, Brandon asked questions about what I needed and suggested Jake would be a good fit for my needs. Over the next six months, Jake renovated the second kitchen, moved walls and doors, ripped up 20 year old carpet and taught me how to install LVP. He was great. BTW, I only scheduled him a couple of days a week because I wanted to do some of the work myself. He could have gotten it done faster without me as his helper. I had saved the renovation of the 3 bathrooms for the last project. Brandon came over and wrote up an estimate and I had sticker shock. So I went back to the internet and found another contractor for a quote, and second guy was significantly lower (and more in line with east coast prices). So yeah, I signed a contract with the second contractor. Significantly less, remember. What a significantly huge mistake, second guy talked a good game but I think he was watching YouTube videos in my bathroom. Trying to figure out how to fix my bathroom. Plus asking for money without making any progress. Then he quit coming at all. Fast forward to now and we get to the something special. I called Burgan Home Services and talked with Stacy (she's the scheduler). I just wanted some guidance on what to do. Brandon came to my house the same day. He expressed his sympathy for my situation and pledged to help me navigate through whatever recourse I have with the YouTube watching contractor. Burgan Home Services will be finishing the bathrooms. I highly recommend them, their work and their customer service. They have my loyalty and will always be my go to contractor/handyman.

Be careful when hiring Damien, owner of Supernova Landscape Company. I hired him to lay a paver…read morepatio in my backyard and generally clean up the perimeter of the yard, especially the backyard which was full of weeds and a little maintenance in the front yard. He's friendly but has a bad memory and didn't take notes as we discussed the job. Basically Damien and his crew have no follow through at all. Once on the job he'll forget most of the things he contracted to do, most of which were in writing in his contract and he'll simply leave you hanging. I had to remind him several times during the job what he had contracted to do, things he said he "remembered" or "understood" differently. They were in writing! He even called his own communication skills into question when I had to ask, again, why he wasn't doing the job per the contract. He offered to Clean up the pine needles and pine cones from my side yard. They didn't have a spare minute to address that at all. During our initial walk through, as I described the work I wanted done, he referred to "his crew", which sounded reassuring. He estimated the whole project would take Thursday, Friday and "into Saturday". He arrived with one man Thursday, they got very behind and never recovered. They spent the next 3 days in a rush, desperately cutting and tossing pavers into place til 7 pm Saturday. He returned Monday to finish the job until he had to leave to go buy a new truck early afternoon. He and his guy just took off and left several piles of ugly messes in my yard for me to clean up. I sent him photos and he didn't reply. The best part? Since the job was completed to his liking, he invoiced me $3000K+ on July 14, to be paid "before July 29 to avoid late fees". The very next day he charged my credit card that amount with no notice to me! Told me it was his right. I gave one star because I did get my paver patio. After that I've had nothing but bad business practice and frustration. And absolute silence when I reached out.

When we received the final billing, we were shocked to see a charge for $180/hr. for 6 hours of work. I verified with two other contractors after the fact. Paint, trim and install... including dry time and coming back to hang... $200 & $600 respectively, the latter coming from a custom builder in Seattle. Labor Only! We were charged $1085! The owner saw it as a chance to stab us in the back and that's exactly what he did!
