We purchased a Bradford White Hot Water heater and was charged $2300 on May 1 2024, then in March of this year we had to have an element replaced because we had no hot water, they charged us $350, saying it was not under warranty. Then this weekend, it stopped working again and they want to charge us again to come out. Clearly there is an issue with the hot water heater. This was supposed to be a high end water heater, but clearly it is not . The company only gives a 1 year warranty but according to the model number it has a 6 year warranty. We ended up going and buying a new hot water heater and installing ourselves. This was a terrible experience. read more

My experience with Straight Shooter Plumbing was, without question, the worst experience I have ever had with a business. What started as a simple service call turned into what felt like a massive bait-and-switch. In early May, I contacted Straight Shooter Plumbing because a toilet and bathtub on my property were backing up with sewage. When the technician arrived, he recommended removing the toilet and using an auger to clear the line. I agreed and authorized the work. About 30 minutes later, I heard loud banging coming from my shop. When I went to investigate, I discovered that the technician had broken straight through my shop toilet. After damaging the toilet, the technician contacted someone I assumed was his supervisor, Dean. Dean arrived about an hour later and informed me that all of the plumbing on the property had been installed incorrectly and that repairs would cost approximately $5,000. During that conversation, I asked what it would cost to install a septic system and bypass the lagoon entirely. Dean told me it would be around $16,000 to $17,000. He also mentioned that the company offered 0% financing for 36 months. Because this was a major expense, I specifically asked whether the septic project estimate could end up being significantly higher--something in the $30,000 to $40,000 range. Dean's response was, "Oh God, no." Based on those representations, I agreed to move forward and paid a $3,500 deposit on the spot. Approximately two weeks later, Dean returned to dig test holes around the property. Four days after that, I received the actual proposal. Instead of the $16,000-$17,000 project I had been led to expect, the quote came in at more than $38,000. To make matters worse, there was an additional 10% surcharge if I chose to use their financing. I was shocked and felt completely misled. The final price was more than double what I had been told, and nowhere close to the range that had been discussed when I paid the deposit. This is why I consider the entire experience a bait-and-switch. When I asked Dean for a refund of my deposit, I was told that Straight Shooter Plumbing does not offer refunds and that the numbers discussed on my porch were merely a "guesstimate" rather than a quote. After speaking with the owner, Steve, I was eventually offered $600 and a replacement toilet for the one their technician broke and never replaced. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this company proceed with extreme caution. Get every promise, estimate, and representation in writing before paying any money. My experience was that the company was anything but "straight shooters." read more

I found Straight Shooter with a Google search and they had very good ratings from other customers. I do not live local and wasn't sure how it would work to coordinate a sewer lateral replacement from afar for a home that we are renting out. I called and explained my needs over the phone and they quickly responded by scheduling a site visit and estimate within an hour of my call. They required a camera in the sewer line in order to verify conditions to provide the estimate of cost, and they had a coupon on their website that made it affordable. I had to coordinate over the phone with the property management company and the tenant, and Straight Shooter was very communicative and helpful in this process. During the site visit, they located the exterior cleanout and ran a camera through the sewer line. Once the camera work was complete, the owner (Steve) forwarded me a copy of the video and he walked me through the footage explaining the conditions and what was needed for replacement. Later that same day, I was provided with an estimate, broken down into line items with thorough explanations of cost. In addition, Straight Shooter indicated that they would be responsible for all permits, utility location, surface restoration, and coordination with the tenant. Upon approval of the estimate, they required 30% down payment and scheduled the work to start the next day. The project ended up with a few challenges including working around unmarked utilities, City required extras, and delayed final permits, but Straight Shooter followed through and got things done in a timely manner. One of the City's requirements added some extra costs to the overall project, but Straight Shooter tried to minimize the extras as much as possible. They were very friendly, professional, communicative, and thorough throughout the project. I really appreciated their willingness to work with us over the phone since we couldn't be there in person. I would recommend them to anyone needing a quality plumber in the area. read more

This company is fantastic. We had a sudden sewage to septic tank blockage which immediate. Called Straight Shooter Plumbing and they said that a technician was on the way as soon as we have the dispatcher the address. They arrived in A FEW MINUTES and immediately set about troubleshooting the blockage. They isolated the problem and isolated the problem area. I was quoted $4100 for r/r of a 75 gallon water heater. I told my property manager to hold off as that quote was outrageous. I had Borders heating and cooling quote me and their quote was $2550, much more in line with what I was expecting. I will pay my property manager $2550 and they can pay the other $1600. It is my belief that Straight Shooter saw my property on Hayden Lake and they figured I would not mind. WRONG! Bought a home that the inspector warned us had a slumping/belly issue in the septic line from the house to the tank. Called around and emailed some plumbers and finally found one who serviced Spirit Lake. I emailed Steve with Straight Shooter the video from the inspector and Steve was able to diagnose the issue from seeing the video. Set up a time to come out and Steve and Nick came out and got right to work. They dug up the septic with minimal harm to the lawn and flower beds and did their best to do the job quickly and thoroughly. They replaced the slumping old pipe section with stronger pipe and gave me options because the tank was originally designed in a weird way with its entrance hole facing away from the house meaning the pipe had to turn a corner. They also came back the next day and installed a riser and cap so we wouldn't have to dig the tank up the next time we pump it. Nick and Steve were great, courteous, prompt and very helpful. This review is in exchange for a discount provided. We called Straight Shooter Plumbing to get an estimate for a customer provided toilet installation. We were told over the phone that bids cannot be provided without a plumber coming out view and asses what needed done. The plumber was extremely kind, easy to communicate with, and quick to get the job done. We were quoted a price over $100 more than other local companies. When we asked for a price match to another local company, the price match was approved and we were offered an addional 10% off if we agreed to leave a review. After the plumber left, we did notice a small, slow leak at the supply line and tank connection. We called the main office and they scheduled the plumber to come back. He was scheduled between 1 and 3pm and didn't arrive until about 5pm. We understand that sometimes jobs take a little longer than anticipated, but better communication on timing would have been appreciated. I'm not sure if we would use them again if other needs arise due to the higher costs of services. read more
