My husband spoke with the owner Steve and he said he would refund us $350 for the element charge because we shouldn't have been charged because the hot water heater did have a 6 year warranty. We have yet to receive any refund and we are out another $700 to replace the hot water heater. read more

$410 for less than 1 hour to replace a broken garbage disposal unit that we supplied. Before the technician arrived, we took everything out from under the sink to make the installation go smoother. Spoke with Steve (the owner) today. He was most cordial and apologetic for the manner in which the bill for our service was handled. We discussed their rates and I was offered a partial refund, which I accepted. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at their offices to pick up the check, Steve insisted on a full refund, apologized again and indicated the technician was new at the time of service and has since learned the proper way to do business per their company policy. Suffice to say, I will contact them again for any further plumbing needs. read more

We needed a second opinion on a sewer line repair and Valerie with Straight Shooter was a ROCKSTAR! She was so professional and courteous, and answered all of our concerns in a way we were able to understand. Straight shooter gave us a much better quote for the repair than we were originally given and we could not be happier with our inspection. The world needs more Valerie's!!! read more

Through a string of perpetual bad luck, we've had to use Straight shooter for a number projects. A broken septic line, full house tear out and re-pipe, shower valve replacement... the saga goes on and on. Steve has his crew have been nothing but great, they made sure their work was done right and if something wasn't, they stayed and made sure it was. I really wouldn't think of using anyone else, seriously give them a call! I wish I had more photos of their work. read more

Straight Shooter Plumbing and Rooter - Example of full repipe to PEX - Water Heater Installation/Repair Near Me - Hayden, Idaho

My experience with Straight Shooter Plumbing was, without question, the worst experience I have ever had with a business. What started as a simple service call turned into what felt like a massive bait-and-switch. In early May, I contacted Straight Shooter Plumbing because a toilet and bathtub on my property were backing up with sewage. When the technician arrived, he recommended removing the toilet and using an auger to clear the line. I agreed and authorized the work. About 30 minutes later, I heard loud banging coming from my shop. When I went to investigate, I discovered that the technician had broken straight through my shop toilet. After damaging the toilet, the technician contacted someone I assumed was his supervisor, Dean. Dean arrived about an hour later and informed me that all of the plumbing on the property had been installed incorrectly and that repairs would cost approximately $5,000. During that conversation, I asked what it would cost to install a septic system and bypass the lagoon entirely. Dean told me it would be around $16,000 to $17,000. He also mentioned that the company offered 0% financing for 36 months. Because this was a major expense, I specifically asked whether the septic project estimate could end up being significantly higher--something in the $30,000 to $40,000 range. Dean's response was, "Oh God, no." Based on those representations, I agreed to move forward and paid a $3,500 deposit on the spot. Approximately two weeks later, Dean returned to dig test holes around the property. Four days after that, I received the actual proposal. Instead of the $16,000-$17,000 project I had been led to expect, the quote came in at more than $38,000. To make matters worse, there was an additional 10% surcharge if I chose to use their financing. I was shocked and felt completely misled. The final price was more than double what I had been told, and nowhere close to the range that had been discussed when I paid the deposit. This is why I consider the entire experience a bait-and-switch. When I asked Dean for a refund of my deposit, I was told that Straight Shooter Plumbing does not offer refunds and that the numbers discussed on my porch were merely a "guesstimate" rather than a quote. After speaking with the owner, Steve, I was eventually offered $600 and a replacement toilet for the one their technician broke and never replaced. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this company proceed with extreme caution. Get every promise, estimate, and representation in writing before paying any money. My experience was that the company was anything but "straight shooters." read more

I found Straight Shooter with a Google search and they had very good ratings from other customers. I do not live local and wasn't sure how it would work to coordinate a sewer lateral replacement from afar for a home that we are renting out. I called and explained my needs over the phone and they quickly responded by scheduling a site visit and estimate within an hour of my call. They required a camera in the sewer line in order to verify conditions to provide the estimate of cost, and they had a coupon on their website that made it affordable. I had to coordinate over the phone with the property management company and the tenant, and Straight Shooter was very communicative and helpful in this process. During the site visit, they located the exterior cleanout and ran a camera through the sewer line. Once the camera work was complete, the owner (Steve) forwarded me a copy of the video and he walked me through the footage explaining the conditions and what was needed for replacement. Later that same day, I was provided with an estimate, broken down into line items with thorough explanations of cost. In addition, Straight Shooter indicated that they would be responsible for all permits, utility location, surface restoration, and coordination with the tenant. Upon approval of the estimate, they required 30% down payment and scheduled the work to start the next day. The project ended up with a few challenges including working around unmarked utilities, City required extras, and delayed final permits, but Straight Shooter followed through and got things done in a timely manner. One of the City's requirements added some extra costs to the overall project, but Straight Shooter tried to minimize the extras as much as possible. They were very friendly, professional, communicative, and thorough throughout the project. I really appreciated their willingness to work with us over the phone since we couldn't be there in person. I would recommend them to anyone needing a quality plumber in the area. read more

Technician knew exactly what he was doing. And was quick. Very happy with the service that we received.

We had a clogged toilet, we think thanks to our grandson. Something was jammed in there and the technician didn't give up. He kept running his snake and slowly dislodged what ever was stuck in there. I thought the price was pretty high at $275. In spite of the high price we were glad to get it back to normal without having to wait for days. read more

I got charged $125 for them to come out after hours. When the guy got to my house. He looked at the hot water heater, and said you are going to need an all new hot water heater. He didn't inspect anything. He said it will be $2k+ for a new hot water heater. I said forget it, he said well how would you like to pay for me coming out. What a joke! read more

I was quoted $4100 for r/r of a 75 gallon water heater. I told my property manager to hold off as that quote was outrageous. I had Borders heating and cooling quote me and their quote was $2550, much more in line with what I was expecting. I will pay my property manager $2550 and they can pay the other $1600. It is my belief that Straight Shooter saw my property on Hayden Lake and they figured I would not mind. WRONG! Very disappointed in Straight Shooter and I will never ask them for a quote in the future for any of my properties. Their loss. read more

Both of our toilets were backed up which made it an emergency situation. Evan showed up in less than an hour on a Sunday and went right to work. The problem wasn't an easy fix, but Evan persisted until both toilets worked again. He has a delightful personality, is very friendly and informative. He didn't mind telling us how plumbing works and gave 3 options to get the problem fixed. We highly recommend Evan and we enjoyed his Australian accent! read more

Used straight shooter for a tankless maintenance. They were very friendly, easy to schedule, showed up on time, etc. Tankless flush was +$350.00 which is a bit absurd, but that might be the going rate for a good plumber(?) read more

Bought a home that the inspector warned us had a slumping/belly issue in the septic line from the house to the tank. Called around and emailed some plumbers and finally found one who serviced Spirit Lake. I emailed Steve with Straight Shooter the video from the inspector and Steve was able to diagnose the issue from seeing the video. Set up a time to come out and Steve and Nick came out and got right to work. They dug up the septic with minimal harm to the lawn and flower beds and did their best to do the job quickly and thoroughly. They replaced the slumping old pipe section with stronger pipe and gave me options because the tank was originally designed in a weird way with its entrance hole facing away from the house meaning the pipe had to turn a corner. They also came back the next day and installed a riser and cap so we wouldn't have to dig the tank up the next time we pump it. Nick and Steve were great, courteous, prompt and very helpful. I would not hesitate to call them again. Thank you Straight Shooter! You helped us get into our home faster. read more

I would recommend this place hands down. I called four different plumbing companies that were rated 4.8 and above (the other companies must have a lot of friends that give them reviews). Straightshooter is the only one that called me back. I had a no freeze yard faucet that started running water on a weekend with cold and snow coming. Rick was amazing, he knew exactly what to do. The weekend extra rate was well worth it. This company is in my contacts list forever! Thank you, thank you!!!! You all ROCK! read more

I live in MT. Desperate for honesty from a professional, I called Straight Shooter located across state lines due to their high customer review rating. Steve did a tele-assessment and sent his crew out next day. That crew, Brandt and Nick, worked tirelessly into the night to fix all the shoddy work that had been done by other plumbing crews. Though I am far away and must pay a travel fee, I am reluctant to even consider another plumber ever again. For those of you in my area (Sanders County, Montana), consider this crew. This review is in exchange for a discount provided. We called Straight Shooter Plumbing to get an estimate for a customer provided toilet installation. We were told over the phone that bids cannot be provided without a plumber coming out view and asses what needed done. The plumber was extremely kind, easy to communicate with, and quick to get the job done. We were quoted a price over $100 more than other local companies. When we asked for a price match to another local company, the price match was approved and we were offered an addional 10% off if we agreed to leave a review. After the plumber left, we did notice a small, slow leak at the supply line and tank connection. We called the main office and they scheduled the plumber to come back. He was scheduled between 1 and 3pm and didn't arrive until about 5pm. We understand that sometimes jobs take a little longer than anticipated, but better communication on timing would have been appreciated. I'm not sure if we would use them again if other needs arise due to the higher costs of services. read more
