Classless! Im highly disappointed by the lack of empathy given. Appt cancelled with nothing more than a voice message that was missed. The message was to let me know their esthetician was out sick. However, only 2 days before they sent a confirm my appt text. After I confirmed it I assumed I was confirmed. Silly me! My next thing would be why on earth would I not get a text message canceling my appt, as I received one to confirm it. Then only to call me back and say they wonder the same thing but, either way I should have read my email. So its my fault your saying?? Okkkayy.. Had a groupon....So it was the perfect excuse to get a massage on one of my favorite streets in the city (magazine street) The place cant be any smaller or older. There wasn't even room to walk in the door and wait to be checked in. The massage came with a foot bath of some sort, they could have just left it off. They sit you in a tiny chair for like 60 seconds and you re done=pointless. The room was nice and dark, a dark sheet was hanging on the wall to disguise the front windows. The masseuse was so hard I thought I was going to be bruised. I spoke up twice to please go softer but she only lightened up for a second and went right back to painful rubbing. The bathroom is located next to the sitting area with big open slats in the door. I'm glad I only paid half price because its lacks the spa atmosphere but doesn't lack the spa price tag. read more

I've come here about 3-4 times now and at first I was not happy with the threading. It took way too long and there was no shape or anything done just cleaning. However as she got to know my eyebrows and I explained more in detail what I wanted, I was so pleased by how they turned out! Came here two days ago to get my brow and lip waxed. Afterwards my brow and lip were extremely red (which sometimes happens to me) but the next morning I had burn marks on my below the brow / lip area. The woman who did my brows was very detailed and didn't do a bad job to my actual brows, but somehow burned me with the wax. It's super visible and pretty painful. I'm hoping it doesn't car. She explained every part of the microdermabrasion as she was doing it and let me know what each ingredient does for the skin. I felt super comfortable with her. This tiny little shop gets the job done and unwanted hair out in no time. Super efficient which is important to me since I run in on my lunch breaks. I had my first eyebrow threading here. I had never gotten my eyebrows done professionally, and I am in my late twenties. I was very pleased with the results. The threading hurt more than I thought it would, but I'm sure it hurts no matter who's pulling, and the esthetician works very quickly. I also recently came here and used a Living Social deal for waxing. Granted I had had one not too long before, but this was the least painful waxing I've had, maybe ever. The first time I had an appointment, the service was booked through Instagram and it wasn't the service I asked for. I wanted brow tinting but instead was given an eyebrow wax. I then booked an additional tint service for Wednesday and because I was 5 minutes late they cancelled my appointment. Now being late was absolutely my fault, however if there are restrictions about not honoring an appointment for being 5 minutes late, that should be explained when the appointment is being made. The young lady who was scheduled to do my tinting wouldn't even look me in my face and just said yeah I can't do it just reschedule. I'm so happy I found this place! I was looking for a salon to have my skin "cleaned" properly, as I call it. I try to do my best every day (expensive creams, scrubs etc.), but sometimes you just know you need a steaming bath for your face and an esthetician who will fight the impurities on your face. Elise did a great job and, afterwards, I really had the feeling my pores were smaller. The great thing about her is that not only will she give you the facial you require in a professional manner, but she will also listen carefully to what you have to say about your skin before deciding together with you what you'd like to have done (and what not). I have been searching for an eye brow threading place since I moved here. I was excited to find out that Esthetique Facial Spa had a threader. I had the day off so I walked over to the spa. I should have called to make an appointment, but I had nothing to do so I just strolled over. I got there to find out that the threader was out sick, which was a disappointment. Esthetique Facial Spa is a small and cute little boutique near Whole Foods on Magazine. The decor is pleasant, but they might want to do a bit about making the back part where the treatment rooms are less cluttered. The lights were dimmed, but it seemed like things just weren't really put away and chilling in the hall/behind a not-fully-closed cloth curtain. Anyhow, that would not dissuade me from wanting to go back here at all. Short ode to Elise: thank you so much for making my first microderm a huge success! I was quite nervous and she was kind/patient/answered all my questions. The procedure itself was fine and actually quite fast. She had lots of helpful hints for better skin care. The worst part about everything was the extraction. She said I didn't squirm, but I'm pretty sure a few tears came out. The end product was great (clear pores) - even if the process was a bit painful. Thanks groupon for making my first microderm affordable! It's only been a day, but I can see a clear difference. I may have to save up a bit for this luxury and have it done again! Hints: no retinol or facial creams for at least 3 days before and after your treatment to avoid chemical burns. There's some parking next to the building off Magazine, but plenty of street parking nearby as well. read more

I called in the morning to make an appointment for a bikini wax since my usual girl was booked all day. She offered that I come in at 2:30 instead of 2, and I agreed that was fine. Whoever I spoke to seemed polite and talked to me about my options for wax, etc. I arrived about 5 minutes late for my appointment but had called ahead to make sure it was alright. When I got there, I was asked if I had an appointment, so I told her my name and took a seat on the couch that kind of reminded me of a college frat house couch. A lady was already threading someone else's brows in the front area, out in the open for everyone to see. Not a huge fan of the lack of privacy, but I love this technique and not many do it around here. Man, did she do a great job! The patron was very pleased. I was pretty excited to check out this place, but it's kind of dingy. They seem to have spruced up and decorated the place best they could, but the location is a bit dive-y for my taste: tinytinytiny, not well lit, low ceilings, no music, and it just doesn't look spa-ish. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I thought I would stick around to see how the service was. I sat there waiting for about 15 minutes while another employee walked around leisurely. Finally, she asked me my name and told me she didn't have time to take me. Apparently she had me scheduled for 2. When I tried to explain the miscommunication she interrupted me to tell me she had another appointment at 3, but she could take me right after at 3:45. I'm not really sure why my appointment hadn't been booked for enough time in the first place, but I declined since I had another obligation and was slightly offended that she hadn't offered an apology or anything. LESLIE is the greatest bikini waxer I have ever known. I could not recommend her more! She has been my waxer for going on 3 years now. I am very particular about my waxers and do a ton of research before settling on someone. Some of that research can be painful. However, ever since the first time I was waxed by Leslie, I will never go to anyone else. She is a professional and always makes me feel so comfortable. I have somewhat stubborn hair and I require as esthetician who is highly skilled and experienced. Leslie is both. She is an artist with the wax. She uses a hard wax, which has been life changing for me. As for the spa. It is in a great location right in uptown. The facilities are always clean and the staff always welcoming. Services: Bikini wax This is my second Bikini wax with Esthetique's owner, who I believe is named Jamie. Prior to going to Esthetique I'd never had a bikini wax and was nervous, especially as I had heard horror stories about bad experiences. Jamie was wonderful and the wax wasn't painful at all - I took an Advil beforehand which Jamie recommended. That may have also helped the experience. Esthetique uses hard wax unlike some other spas and this seems to be the difference. The waxing lasted a long time, and the hair has thinned out and grown in lighter. I have visited esthetique's message therapists, D'otta several times and I have to say she is the bees knees. I work in the service industry and am also very vain so I don't always wear the best shoes. I get the worst knots in my shoulders and lower back and she can really get in there and break it up. The atmosphere is super calming and I usually almost always fall asleep when I'm supposed to be changing. It's very reasonably priced and they can usually get me in short notice. Looooove this facial spa. You'll leave there feeling like a million bucks. It's my one stop shop for microdermabrasions, Chemical peels, and a fabulous massage. You can also get your eyebrows, lashes, and make up done there as well. The staff is excellent at what they do. They offer a really nice selection of skin care products that actually do what their intended to do. (A definite plus) Staff were warm and inviting. The facial room is accommodating. I brought my daughter with me and there was a spacious seating area for her inside the room. My facial was done by Elise. She is an angel. She did an amazing job! My face was left clean and refreshed. She comes heavily demanded.
