I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. They have been my go-to ever since a co-worker mentioned they do threading at this little mall kiosk. I used to make the trip to Esplanade, but I hate having to wander through a semi-crowded mall to get my brows done. Shapes at Clearview is the solution. Walk in through the food court entrance, and you are right there. Plus, it's Clearview, so it's rarely busy. These women do a fantastic job, and it's super affordable. Painful? Absolutely. Threading is the best thing that's happened to my eyebrows. They're not symmetrical and look like 2 caterpillars whenever I let them grow out (which is NEVER). I used to get them waxed but have noticed that most estheticians/waxers end up plucking out the majority of the hairs to clean them up anyway so threading is a better option for me. For $10, the young ladies at Shapes Brow Bar manage to make my eyebrows match and create clean lines that last about a week. I swear every time I leave, I feel as if I've had a mini-makeover! Also, it helps if you show them a picture of how you'd like your eyebrows to look, otherwise, they will just shape them depending on how they currently look. If you've been doing them yourself or recently had a botched wax/pluck job, you probably should wait a couple weeks so that when you go, they have more hair to work with. read more

My brows were straight out the African bush bushy. Intentionally of course, as I generally self wax with success but had made a few mistakes so I wanted a fresh start. I was surprised at how much more it hurt than I anticipated as I have never threaded before. No lie, she finished my very full hairy brow in 6 minutes top. The lines were clean and great. My only complaint is that the arch was less pronounced than I prefer. But more than that, she didn't consult with me about what I wanted. She leaned my head back and did it. And with ANY service, consultation is paramount. Period. I'm still very pleased with the outcome. I think my real problem is Elizabeth on Bergenline Ave. did my brows the best ever and since Jersey is not an easy commute I am ultimately left wanting. I visit this place about every 2-3 weeks to get my brows all done up... most of the girls there are simply fabulous and do their very best to keep my brows in prime diva condition.. truth be told.. I bring in this same pic of Beyonce and they make my brows look just like hers... DON'T go here if you have thick eyebrows. I went this past Sunday (Feb 1) around 3pm, told the woman (only one person working..) the shape I wanted and that I want to keep it thick? What did she give me? Nearly pencil thin brows and I look surprised. Freaking. Terrible. If you have thin brows she might be ok (my arch wasn't very well done), but I would never recommend her to anyone who wanted to maintain a nice thick brow. The messed up thing is that she has beautiful thick brows (I told her that I want to keep mine thick and that I really like hers). Ugh, I can think of so many ugly things to say, but I won't. What used to be the eyebrow shaping kiosk by the food court is now a salon called Ace beauty across from the food court. I just went a couple of days ago and they did an amazing job with my brows. I'm from Houma and the one lady here that does threading kept making my brows more and more uneven. These positive reviews are totally misleading!! Being new from out of town, I really wanted to trust yelp in helping me find a decent eyebrow threading place. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for years now so this wasn't my first time. I came here twice. First time, I got someone who truly didn't give a poo about what she was doing. This was the most excruciatingly painful threading experience I have EVER had. Not to mention I wanted to cry after because the shape of my brows were so off. She even left small hairs so the threading job wasn't even clean! I had to go home and pluck myself! Second time, I got someone else and I told her exactly what I wanted. She moved a lot quicker and it didn't hurt so bad. However when she was finished, I once again was not satisfied with the shape. I even pointed at a picture! After telling her to adjust my arches and she argued with me, she fixed one eyebrow to the way I wanted it and kind of left the other. So I left with two different eyebrows!! Seriously done with this place. Also, it only lasts about a week! In the past, I've had threading last 3 weeks to a month!! Beware. The price is good but I guess you really need to find that perfect lady there or else you will walk out in major pain and with jacked up brows! read more

The reviews here are very misleading. Your service depends on which person does your brows or other work you are having done. Several times I have walked away with mismatched brows. After my recent visit I left with the worst threading job - very uneven brows that will not be fixed unless they grow out for months, I actually had to go out and buy a brow kit with makeup to fix this mess (again my money wasted on the bad threading and the addition stuff I had to get so I can show my face in public!!). The worst part is that there was no apology or recognition of the poor job. I do not recommend this place at all unless they make some changes. read more

My eyebrows were butchered here. Let me explain... I've gotten my eyebrows threaded many times before, but I've been having a hard time finding a decent place in New Orleans that does the job (there are so few places that does threading in the first place). So, I gave this place a try with high hopes, especially because they seemed to have positive and seemingly legit reviews. I told the girl that I wanted a "clean up" and that was it. Well, that didn't happen. Not at all. She took a bunch underneath, above, and in between. I was left with nothing but thin lines, which is far from the full brows I have always had and loved. When I looked in the mirror, I was utterly shocked. I was actually too embarrassed to turn towards the friend that had accompanied me because of how terrible a job it had been. I left quickly and quietly because I'm not a "make a scene" kind of gal and also because I didn't want to call any attention to my brows. One other thing, the girl did a very slow job, and that means more pain. Her thread even broke a couple of times from going so slow and having the thread get caught up on the hair. It was so extremely painful that I actually rethought through our whole visit to see if I could recall if I had somewhat upset her and she was seeking revenge, though nothing came to mind at all. Oh yes, I might add that this is a mall kiosk that is located in the food court, so if you don't like being out in the open then this might not be the best place for you. Wow! These guys are awesome. Fast, friendly and a really nice job. I stopped getting waxed because I have such sensitive skin and would have red peeling skin for days after a brow waxing. I go here for eyebrows, as opposed to the spa where I get facials and massages done. I know that my naturally mismatched eyebrows will be twins when i leave, and they will cover less of the precious visible area over my eyes. I would pay twice the price they charge to have such great service, easily. Also: this is not only less painful than waxing, but I have found that the results are more consistent and last a little longer. read more

My wife has been going to this place which is now called Ace's Beauty since it was just a kiosk. It has been a storefront for awhile now. The last time we went we got there a little before 10:00 (when they open) and the woman sauntered up at 10:20 with shopping bags to open up. There were several women waiting by this time. The worker here didn't apologize for being late, didn't wish anyone a good morning and actually didn't say a word as she put away her shopping bags. The wife says the people working here used to be friendly and seemed to care about their work but that has fallen by the wayside and now the workers are unfriendly to the point that she has decided not to come to this place anymore. My wife has always been a big tipper, tipping $5 here on a $10 service. This last trip she tipped $3 and felt like it was $3 too much. Such a shame, this business is letting their workers run off their long time customers with their being so unfriendly it borders on hostility. read more

I was getting my eyebrows threaded here for the past 8 months and the staff always did a great job. However, customer service leaves much to be desired. There's no consistency in their protocol for waiting. Sometimes you sign in, sometimes you don't. Most of the time they don't even check the list or call your name (or even greet you). You just sit awkwardly in the food court, watching the customer ahead of you like a hawk ready to jump up and run over when it's your turn. I decided to quit going last week when I followed the "protocol" by signing in and waiting and waiting and waiting only to have some woman just walk right up and take my spot. The girls working saw me sign in but didn't say anything to the line cutter; so, I left and never came back. Too bad, they're pretty good at threading (that's why they're getting 3 stars) but I like to at least be acknowledged when I'm waiting for a service. read more

Today was my first time getting my eyebrows threaded. I was very nervous because my eyebrows literally look like Oscar the grouch and I've had bad experiences in the past.....Karen did an awesome job!!!!!!! She was nice, and professional. As for the pain, if your eyebrows look anything like mine...trust me its worth it. They must have new management because I've been going there for the past three or four years (since they started in a kiosk) and I've never experienced such rude customer service. I went to write my name down as usual and sat down to wait for service. The girl at the register didn't acknowledge me at first so I thought I had to wait for someone else to come out the back of the store. Then she simply told me to sit in a designated chair and waited for me to hold my hands on my face so she could begin. She didn't know if I had been there before or not so her waiting for me to move felt very uncomfortable; it felt as if my very presence disturbed her. While she threaded my eyebrows, her manner was cold and unconcerned. She didn't wipe excess hair off my eyes and face. She just handed me a mirror when she was done. I believe in tipping but I just didn't think I should give extra money to someone who could care less if I was there or not. So I handed her my receipt without tip and of course, she took it and said nothing else. Even though I've been a loyal customer for a long time, I will not be going back. read more
