I have been meaning to try this restaurant for over a year. I first noticed it when I was waiting at the nearby bus station to go to NYC. I can't remember what caught my eye but I knew I had to go eventually. I am so glad I did. The restaurant is one of the most visually appealing restaurants that I have ever been to. I literally felt like I had gone to Greece and the music playing helped create that atmosphere too! Our server was so kind. I was debating between the plaka mousaka and the shrimp linguini. He recommended the mousaka and said if I don't like it he would give me the shrimp linguini. No need to worry, I LOVED it! As someone who just came back from Greece, this is about as delicious as you could get. Sure, some of the dishes are Americanized, but the food and ambiance feels straight out of a restaurant that you could get over there. Just like with Greece, the portions are incredibly generous. You get food, on top of food, on top of food, and then you are full, and then you get some more! It also helps the food tastes super fresh and is worth every penny. Get yourself plenty because it makes the experience even better. They also have a bakery in the front that also offers tasty options in addition to some local favorites. We came for the Greek Tasting Wine dinner. So much food. The tasting menu consist of three appetizers. Yes that's correct. I stated three. I have photographed the menu. It also included a salad. With two entrees one being the Spitroast Lamb, the other was the Lavraki (Branzino) filet fish. This was my favorite!! Seasoned perfectly with the lemon oil and capers. It also included two desserts. There was a wine sample that went with every meal. So a total of seven different wines. All pretty much on the dry side. With the exception of the wine that went with the desserts. It was called Paleokairiso,2023. That had a slight sweetness to it. I'm actually a semi sweet wine person. So everything paired well with the meals. I would have to pass on all dry wines but I'm always open to the possibilities. This was an enjoyable experience. We don't live in Baltimore but if you live or work nearby. I highly recommend checking them out. Parking was about a block away. For twenty five cents an hour. Also metered street parking available if you can find it. I took myself on a little solo date here since it's a short walk from my house. What a cute place! It's a restaurant and bakery and the decor is gorgeous. I wish I could remember my servers name because he was so funny and so helpful. He also didn't judge me for getting basically one of everything for just myself lol. I got the grilled calamari, octopus, and lamb chops. I was NOT expecting the calamari to be so huge haha it was so delicious and flavorful though. I always prefer grilled over fried calamari. The lamb chops were juicy and seasoned so well (not gamey at all). And octopus is a favorite of mine anywhere I go, this was a 10/10. I've been living in Baltimore for 4 years and I did not know there was a Greek town. My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner at Estiatorio Plaka. The decor is absolutely stunning, and I love that they have their own shop/bakery attached. I was so full from dinner that I did not get to try any deserts but I definitely want to go back for a sweet treat and to grab a couple of their infused olive oils. For drinks I ordered the espresso martini and my boyfriend got this like spicy margarita type of cocktail. Both were delicious. We got the Baked Feta in Phyllo for our appetizer, it was delicious and came out nice and fresh. The flavors were so balanced. For our entrees I got the seafood linguini and my boyfriend got the lamb chops. The portion for the seafood linguini is HUGE, so be prepared to take basically a whole meal to go. The seafood was cooked properly the noodles had great texture and the sauce honestly tastes like the sauce from spaghettios and I mean that in the best way possible. It was yummy and nostalgic. Could've used a tad bit more seasoning though. Same for the lamb, cooked perfectly, tasted good, but wasn't the best lamb chops from a flavor perspective. I was expecting more of burst of flavor. Maybe if they added a little flaky salt right off the grill it would've kicked it up a notch. All in all it was a great dinner. The ambiance was perfect, that service was amazing. I can't say enough good things about this hidden gem. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary with the kid and wanted to grab lunch. I was looking for a place that was not too expensive, with good food, good vibes and family friendly; Estiatorio Plaka (EP) delivered. Located in Greektown, not too far from Canton is EP. They have been opened for less than two years and have a bakery, bar and formal restaurant. The outside of this place does it no justice. In fact, with a secret a door it could easily be a speakeasy. The only difficult part is the parking lot. There is limited street parking and a dedicated parking lot that's a 4 minute walk. We arrived, with our reservation and were immediately seated. The staff were friendly and I appreciated that they had a pillow for my son's back in the high chair. My wife's immediate response was, this place is nice; good choice. We started off with a Bellini and Mimosa which were mixed to perfection. It was the right amount of juice and champagne. Then, we didn't know what to order because everything sounded good so we got the French toast and the kayianas (mixed scrambled eggs). The French toast was very tasty and light; the eggs were flavorful as well. Then, I ordered the gyro which had shaved meat, fries, onions and tomatoes which was just as good. It's refreshing to find a place off the beaten path, that's not over saturated and delivers in all areas (customer service, decor, food quality, etc). Finally ordered delivery from Estiatorio Plaka and I am so happy that I finally took the plunge. Take my feedback knowing that it was delivered! I got the chicken souvlaki pita and fries. The pita bread itself was amazingly flaky and buttered. I'm not sure if they make their own pita or it's just buttered to perfection but I could just eat the pita for days. The souvlaki had fries in it and honestly it would've been better for me without them so consider eating them in the side! The hand cut fries were a bit soggy but I attribute this to the delivery. Stopped here randomly for lunch and had an amazing experience. I haven't been since the spring and was really delighted to see a lunch special that changes every week. I thought I might just get a pastry but was hungry enough for lunch. The restaurant is huge and I sat in a different location than last time and the sun was shining and it was just so beautiful. So, I finally got a chance to eat inside the restaurant. Which is funny, because it's right down the street from my house. My partner and I wanted a date night that was close to home because it was raining. From the minute you walk inside, everybody treats you like family. We were seated at a table and didn't really like that option so they quickly gave us another without any problem. All the servers are so friendly! The amount of food you get with a given entree is amazing! I wouldn't have ordered the additional sides that I did had I known one of the meals came with a soup. We had so much food. We were both stuffed. Unfortunately, we were both so hungry we barely took any pictures. I had the fried octopus. She had the octopus special which was served in some type of sauce. She loved it and of course I always love my octopus. I had the red snapper which was the special, along with rice and broccoli. I also ordered a side of sweet potato mash which was amazing! OMG! Let me say again that the sweet potato mash was so good! My partner had the seafood linguine which she absolutely loved. We got some chocolate cake and rice pudding to go. Had a great impromptu date night at Estiarorio and am already itching to go back! The service was so high class and the waitress had a great knowledge of the menu. She was very attentive and checked in on us a lot and offered great suggestions while teaching us about Greek wines. The complimentary bread was great, they offered us more but we wanted to save space for the food. The fava dip could've used a little more flavor and salt but the lentils soup was perfectly seasoned! The short rib special was very good too. The drinks were VERY strong but very yummy!! I wish we had space for some of the baked goods that looked INCREDIBLE! We came here for a little date night after hearing so many positive things about one of the newest businesses to join the community in Greektown, and we loved stopping in for dinner! We were impressed by the decor inside, it's all white and very clean and pristine. Upstairs, where we sat, is just as white and pristine, but had a lot less decoration as it seemed to be used mainly for events. To start, I saw the zucchini chips were highly recommended and they were so delicious! We also had the grilled octopus, which was a meaty balance to the light freshness of the zucchini. I had the seafood risotto for my main dish, which was soooo delicious. My husband had the lamb shanks and honestly, by the time I finished half my plate, he had eaten all of his. The dolmades weren't the best I've ever had-- and they weren't wrapped as tight as I'd have liked, but they were such a generous portion, I can't complain. I was so full, I almost couldn't eat my dinner! We also got the shrimp saganaki and it wasn't what I expected. I think I'd stick with regular saganaki next time, but I'm glad I tried it! They have $7 valet parking available as it can be a bit difficult to find parking. The neighborhood seems a bit questionable, so if you're by yourself at night, I would recommend valet for sure. The food was pretty average. I had to add salt, pepper, and lemon to my dishes, but again, healthy servings and plenty of options! I have been wanting to try this place after seeing a new Greek restaurant opened in the area. As a lover of Mediterranean food, this experience was highly disappointing. GLOWS: - The decor and overall design of the restaurant is very nice. - The staff was friendly in getting us to the correct dining area and helping us to get seated. The orange cake was pretty good, although it was a little more crispy on top than I prefer. -----they also have house made ice cream. GROWS: -The seat cushions and menus had a lot of stains and crumbs on them. I Love the comfy seating, but it's probably hard to keep seat cushions clean between guests. The menus should be laminated or new paper should be printed for tables-- I might look past an old menu in a bar, but not a place with fine dining pricing - The sagnaki lacked in presentation, was too crisped, and didn't even come with Pita bread. -The red snapper and orzo was an entire disappointment. The fish was completely unseasoned, possibly undercooked, and the orzo lacked flavor overall. -The pork so was mostly pieces of fat, with no real meat served on the platter. The fries were also drenched in grease. The platter also did not come with tzatziki, which they apparently wanted you to pay extra for. I was with a party of 5 and not one person enjoyed their food. I ordered the lamb shank and it was severely under seasoned. Someone else at the table also ordered it and it was totally bland and unpalatable. We had to send them back. My sister had lamb chops which she said were very simple, not worth the 40$ price tack for a few chops. The gyro was mostly onions, barely any chicken. What a gem in the heart of Greektown! I've been wanting to try this place out since it opened, but just haven't gotten the chance until now. I love Greek food, but haven't been to a really great Greek restaurant since I lived in Chicago; this place certainly comes the closest. First off, the ambience is lovely. It is a lovely oasis and you forget about the hustle and bustle of Eastern Avenue just outside the doors as you are welcomed by cases of freshly prepared baked goods. The restaurant is just past the bakery and has a very nice bar and well-appointed dining room. We were seated very quickly by a friendly hostess who let us know bread is baked fresh each day, and some would be brought out to our table shortly. True to her word, a basket of hot, fresh,well-seasoned bread was delivered to the table momentarily. Our glasses were promptly filled with water and were never empty over the course of the evening. (I particularly appreciate how quickly and quietly the glasses were refilled, almost unnoticeably, which to me, is a hallmark of exceptional service.) Service was exemplary all around from beginning to end, from every single employee with whom we interacted. I'd say it was every bit as good as the service you get at the Charleston, which is high praise. Five stars for service, unquestionably. I'd actually give this a 4.5 star review if that were possible, but since it wasn't, I had to give it 4 stars. The food was excellent overall, but I couldn't give it 5 stars because there were a couple of glaring misses in terms of dishes that were grossly under seasoned. We started with the traditional dolmades and the plaka mezze spreads. The dolmades were excellent and perfectly seasoned grape leaves stuffed with rice and minced beef; I highly recommend them. The plaka mezze comes with 4 spreads: hummus; melitzonosalata (eggplant dip); tzatziki; and taramas. The hummus and meltitzonosalata were both grossly under seasoned, as in I'm not sure if any salt was put in there at all. I don't think it's possible a chef tasted these after preparing them, because there's no way he/she would send it out if they had. I can't remember the last time I had to ask for salt at a restaurant, that's how many years it's been. After adding salt they were better, but because it was standard table salt, only marginally so. The taramas was outstanding, though, and my friend loved the tzatziki. The pita served with the dips was warm, fresh, and delicious. I ordered the avgolemono soup to start. A very generous bowl came out with more fresh, warm bread. Unfortunately, this too was very under seasoned. After adding salt, though, it was quite good with very nice flavors. (I could see myself ordering this again to-go, taking it home and salting it with kosher salt at home.) I'm not sure if tonight was just an off night for the three dishes that were under seasoned, or if the recipes don't call for enough salt, but these were the only dishes that were misses. That aside, the flavors were still quite good, so if they figure out how to incorporate the right balance of salt, all three dishes would be outstanding. The rest of the dishes were all hits. I ordered the moussaka, which is always my go-to so long as it's made with beef and not lamb. The moussaka was delicious, well seasoned, and a very generous portion. My friend ordered the short rib béchamel, which was also very good. The short rib was fork tender, and again, a very generous portion. I think the moussaka was definitely the better of the two, but both were quite good. We also ordered sides of lemon potatoes, beets, and spinach rice. Portions were very large, and all three sides were exceptionally flavorful and well seasoned. From a value perspective, I think this restaurant might be the best value for your money of any restaurant in Baltimore, or anywhere else for that matter. The portions are HUGE, and the quality is really exceptional, even with a few small misses, which I'm hoping are just one-offs. The incredible service puts this place over the top for me. I'm going to start recommending it to all of my friends as a regular place we should be working into our rotation. They have a brunch menu that looks amazing. Came here for a girl night out dinner on a weeknight and was immediately blown away by the ambiance of this restaurant! GORGEOUS inside that captured the vibes of Santorini. Lots of seating available as well. They were accommodating with a high chair which is a plus too. We found out that happy hour is only at the bar, but they had an extensive wine and cocktail menu with some beer and other options too. We got a white and red wine and both were great ($13 per glass). For food we split the dip starter which came with a small portion of 4 different dips and pita. All were yummy. I ordered off the specials menu and got lamb which was delicious. It came with soup and mini desert for $22 which I thought was a good price. Everyone in my party was pleased with their meals! Heard about their amazing happy hour and it did not dissapoint! $1 draft beer & oysters! $6 cocktails! The drinks were incredible as well as the food. We had the mezze spread, spinach & cheese pie, and decided to split the mini gyros as we were pretty stuffed from our apps. Service at the bar was incredible. I didn't get our bartenders name, but she was great and very attentive. We loved the atmosphere here and can't wait to come back to try more of their menu!! 10/10 spot!! read more
