Warm Caesar salad was just ok
    Karen P.

This is a charming restaurant in Little Italy with an indoor Bocce court. We enjoyed all the food except some more than others. Favorites were the calamari appetizer (needed more sauce though), the shrimp diavlo and the eggplant with penne. The warm Caesar salad was just ok and the Mexican wedding soup was also just okay. The fettuccine Samantha was saucy but not a lot of crab. Would not get again based on the price and too little crab. The complimentary fresh Italian bread with garlic butter was yummy. Service was good but didn't check on us after meals delivered and fresh cheese offered. Portion sizes were generous.

I love the cozy little vibe in this restaurant. We sat up in the bar area. The servers were friendly and the meal was timed appropriately. We had high expectations as we had heard good things from a few sources. The food was good, not great. Fairly basic and nothing 'crave-worthy'. The hunt for 'our' Little Italy restaurant continues!

Whew we loooove this restaurant! Every meal is top tier, best Italian in the city. Mother in law had her retirement party here. The steaks are phenomenal. Pasta is droolworthy. Espresso martini? Best around- youll end up with more than 1. Service is also impeccable- from the servers, bartenders, and Chef Nino coming around to make sure you had a great meal. Ambiance is more romantic and intimate. Great for dates and special occasions. You wont be disappointed in a meal here.

Fabulous food, cozy restaurant and waiters who treat you better than family! I had the grilled Caesar to start, and then followed with veal Francese, an item I've never seen on any menu in New York or Philadelphia. We didn't have room for dessert because the food was so scrumptious! All the pastas are homemade! This is a huge win! Make sure to stop by here When you're in Baltimore's little Italy.

Can't believe it took me this long to finally check out this place ! I enjoyed The New York Strip Steak and it was cooked to perfection (medium rare, of course ) Paired nicely with a glass of crisp Moscato My waiter Jay was so nice . It is a pretty spacious place . Definitely won't be my last visit!!

Came here over christmas time and it was so good! Definitely make a reservation. And definitely get the espresso martini. Literally tasted like a chocolate coffee milkshake. Best i've ever had! My dish, the Fettuccine samantha was amazing!! Couldn't stop eating it even though I was insanely full. Nice white tablecloth ambiance.

A staple. This is easily one of my new favorite Italian spots in Baltimore. The service , wine, and food are fabulous. The Sommelier helped us pick out a delicious bottle of wine. The calamari was so fresh and light. They're known for their grilled romaine... for good reason too. Plus our server was kind enough to have it split for us! Our burrata was perfectly creamy and is flown in from Italy. We finished off with their espresso martini which was perfection. I can't wait to be back.

Food was delicious. We ordered gamberi fra diavolo, calamari and veal chop. Everything tasted fresh and had great flavor. Knocking off stars because our specific server was so disrespectful and rude. My husband noted we were coming to celebrate our anniversary with our young kids. From the moment we walked in Casey/kacey rolled her eyes and clearly upset we brought our kids to our very early res. She spoke to us with an attitude and left us unattended for a good 20 mins - when returning she said "you all good" with a numbs up.... Disappointed in the lack of professionalism to say the least esp after being treated poorly. We drove up from Annapolis to celebrate and Casey ruined the vibe for sure. Luckily service from the other wait staff was lovely.

    Lobster Regjna. Delicious

Came for dinner on a weekday. Excellent service as soon as I walked in the door. Attentive, nice and knowledgeable server. I split a grilled caeser salad with my friend - very good! Lobster Regina - so good. Huge portion, well seasoned. Highly recommend. Ended the meal with a pistachio canoli. Delightful. Beautiful restaurant, great food and service. You cant go wrong

I finally got to check out La Scala last weekend and definitely enjoyed my experience! The vibe was cozy and my waitress was great (I wish I remembered her name). I started with the calamari, which was cooked well as it was so tender! I ordered the "Fettuccine Samantha", which was packed with crab and a decent portion for the price. It could have benefited from a little more flavor, but overall was tasty. I tasted my friend's vodka sauce and that was delicious! It is worth mentioning their system went down and somehow my friend got charged an extra $50. Our waitress updated us as she could and ended up giving us a free dessert as we waited an additional 30 minutes for everything to be resolved. I am still unclear of how it happened and it was a little annoying to end the meal this way, but overall enjoyed the experience.

First time in Baltimore and staying at the Marriott. We walked down by Little Italy and found this amazing place. Service was excellent and the Expresso Martini was delicious!!! The chef took the time to come visit us. We enjoyed the hazelnut and pistachio cannolis. We will be back to try more of the dinner dishes..

I think La Scala is the best Italian restaurant in Baltimore's Little Italy. Great classic atmosphere. I sat at the bar and received exceptional service. The food is amazing. Always great specials. The chef greets guests as well which I love. A real family feel here. I did a grilled Caesar-salad which was great. Sword followed. Excellent wine from managers recommendation. I will be back.

Recently revisited La Scala and forgot how great their Italian food is! The espresso martini, wine selection, and food was all delicious and the pasta was reasonably priced. I love the layout with the bocci court downstairs it really brings a fun and lively vibe to the downstairs area. The service was good, our server was a little quiet but in general the staff seemed friendly, helpful, and attentive!

They're made like slushies and are strong (2 of these and you will be done for the evening) The wine is okay!! though not necessarily the highlight in my opinion. When we arrived, we were the only ones there, and there was one staff member working. That said, she came over immediately, brought us menus, and made the experience feel welcoming right away. We had to ask about tastings and she poured us about four different wines to try, which was a really nice touch and made the experience feel relaxed. We liked a few of the wines and ended up purchasing a bottle of Honor Cava Brut Rosato for $32.99. Solid choice. Nothing mind-blowing, but enjoyable and fairly priced for the setting. The space itself felt calm and cozy, especially with the fireplace and wine displays, but at the time we were there it didn't have a ton of energy or buzz. To be fair, it was early in the day, so I can absolutely see this place feeling very different in the evening or on a weekend when the patio and waterfront vibe are in full swing. V-NO is a pleasant, low pressure wine stop with friendly service, a thoughtful tasting experience, and a beautiful waterfront location. It may not scream "vibes" during slower daytime hours, but it's an easy place to relax, learn what you like, and enjoy a glass (or a bottle) without feeling rushed. I'd definitely come back later in the day to see it come to life.

I went an hour early before everyone else was supposed to be there to get on the waitlist, but the wait was until 10 pm!! So I quickly switched gears and called Benny's because I've heard great things about them. The gentlemen who answered the phone was so kind, and was able to squeeze us in on the fly on a Saturday night, and they weren't slow. Got there super early because I was already in the area, and my wife and I decided to have an old fashioned and an espresso martini at the bar while we waited and they were excellent. The ambiance was upscale but still managed to be relaxed and comfortable. We had a lovely dinner, the waiter was busy but was still attentive and patient. Our whole experience was awesome, so we were already going back in the future. Yesterday I realized a mistake on my bank account from the bar charge, so I called around 6 pm and spoke to the same gentlemen as before. He got all my info and promised he'd call back in 5 minutes. I didn't really expect 5 minutes because I know how crazy the dinner rush would be at an Italian restaurant with a Wednesday wine special. Not even 3 minutes later he called back, and explained what happened, fixed it and I got a follow up text immediately letting us know the refund was already in process. Now, I've been in the service industry and I was a bartender, so I understand that I'm going to be a little biased here but from beginning to end Benny's went above and beyond. They clearly appreciate their customers and love their work, it shows.

Their menu might be classic French, but none of the entrees spoke to me. It was a warm late spring/almost summer night, and I found their menu to be heavy and not very seasonal. I wanted something lighter, something more spring. Since the entrees weren't calling to us, we stuck to the small plates/hors d'oeuvres section of the menu and shared: Potato & Leek Soup (butter croutons and garlic chive oil); Salad Lyonnaise (soft boiled egg, bacon lardons, endive, frisee, and radishes); tableside beef tartare (verjus mustard, capers, tomato, truffle); short rib pappardelle (truffled egg yolk, red onion, Parmesan, and short rib ragu); and Iberico Secreto (apple butter, macerated cranberries, hazelnuts, and microsage). Of these, I'd say we enjoyed the soup and the iberico the best. The beef tartare wasn't cut/diced or mixed very well despite the very fun tableside preparation. The pasta had a truffle oil pungency that isn't for us, so I wouldn't order that dish again, but otherwise the food was pretty good. I do think there is better French food in Baltimore, but Monarque offers something special. The service is great. The wine and cocktails are great. The decor is cool. But best of all? Thursday-Sunday, Monarque hosts Monarque After Dark. Burlesque, cabaret, live jazz music... At Monarque, it's dinner with a show. The performers we saw were great. Monarque After Dark made our night. If the food didn't blow me away, the experience still did. FYI the music is quite loud, so I wouldn't recommend dinner at Monarque if you prefer a quieter dinner! We had a great time at Monarque. I'd certainly return - next time for some drinks, oysters, and shrimp cocktails and the show!
