To which I was told yes, just you can't get it wet for a few days to a week. So I walked into my appointment with way more confidence than I should have. I timed my appointment to coincide with going out for my birthday. Let me tell you, my hair is not normal. So let me tell you about the keratin process since they couldn't be bothered to tell me: you will get your hair washed and cut (I asks to have it cut first to save on cost as I have a lot of hair), the treatment is put on, your hair is dried and then straightened ALOT. They will straighten each section like 5 times. You will walk out with very straight product dense hair. And I'm sure some would say duh?! Which yea duh, but I had never had this done. I've never had any treatment ever. So I literally knew nothing but what they informed me of. So if you don't like straight hair (raises their hand) be prepared. You should go as long as you possible without washing your hair afterwards. You need to keep it as straight as possible the whole time as well. I'm sure I wouldn't be that upset had I'd be given all the pertain information (which would've resulted in me not getting that treatment a day before going out for my birthday). However whoever answers the phone either is not educated enough in the services the salon offers, or they don't care. I did state multiple times on the phone I didn't know anything about the process and had never even heard of it. Also that I was going out and wanted my hair to look nice and blown out. It's so far from what I wanted to look like on my night out that I still haven't ruled out just washing it all out. The only thing stopping me is the $300 price tag that came with this epic mistake. Something most people (myself very much included) can't be throwing down the drain. I don't even know if I fully like my hair cut as I haven't been able to get past how much I hate my hair. She claimed Emily's deep tissue massages had helped her immensely. I called to book an appointment, but the earliest available slot was over a week away at 11 AM. The Friday before my appointment, the spa called to reschedule because Emily was no longer available. Her next availability was a few days later at 12:45 PM on a Thursday. I agreed to the new appointment. I arrived early on the day of my rescheduled appointment, only to be met with disdainful looks from the six women lounging around the front desk, chatting amongst themselves. After an awkward wait, someone finally addressed me, saying someone would assist me shortly. Only one person seemed to be working at the desk. When I was eventually shown to the waiting room, I received no instructions about what would happen next or where to put my new client forms. When the masseuse came to get me, it was not Emily. I asked about Emily's whereabouts, only to be told she wasn't at work that day. Furious, I returned to the front desk, where the six women looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Oh, we will reschedule you." This was the second time I had been rescheduled, and I wasn't about to let them waste any more of my time. I walked out. This situation boils down to one of three issues: the front desk staff is incompetent, Emily is selectively choosing her clients and didn't want to work with me, or they don't want to service a Black woman. The waiting room was empty, so they clearly weren't busy. No wonder this spa has such poor reviews. I try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but this experience was beyond frustrating. Why would I trust them to reschedule me again only to be disappointed? I'm still dealing with back pain and am no closer to finding relief. If anyone knows of good spas in Tuscaloosa, please let me know.

My first visit, Kelly was late to the appointment and kept apologizing for being disorganized. I signed up for a 30 minute facial with extractions but when on the table, she suggested paying for more time so she could do a thorough job. I agreed and she was very helpful in explaining which products I should use for my skin and how. She gave me a complimentary face mask treatment and sent me home with multiple face wash and lotion samples. I was overall satisfied with my experience so i decided to return for a second visit. During my second visit for the same treatment, Kelly was again late and very disorganized. Even though she spent extra time on my face than I had pid for, she used the whole time to talk about her personal life when I was expecting a relaxing facial. She again sent me home with several free samples. Although relatable and affordable, I expected a more professional experience overall.
