I would give zero stars if I could. I have been struggling with intense back pain, and after a back scan revealed it was a muscle issue, the kind woman who did my scan highly recommended the masseuse Emily at Spa Belle La Vie. She claimed Emily's deep tissue massages had helped her immensely. I called to book an appointment, but the earliest available slot was over a week away at 11 AM. The Friday before my appointment, the spa called to reschedule because Emily was no longer available. Her next availability was a few days later at 12:45 PM on a Thursday. I agreed to the new appointment. I arrived early on the day of my rescheduled appointment, only to be met with disdainful looks from the six women lounging around the front desk, chatting amongst themselves. After an awkward wait, someone finally addressed me, saying someone would assist me shortly. Only one person seemed to be working at the desk. When I was eventually shown to the waiting room, I received no instructions about what would happen next or where to put my new client forms. When the masseuse came to get me, it was not Emily. I asked about Emily's whereabouts, only to be told she wasn't at work that day. Furious, I returned to the front desk, where the six women looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Oh, we will reschedule you." This was the second time I had been rescheduled, and I wasn't about to let them waste any more of my time. I walked out. This situation boils down to one of three issues: the front desk staff is incompetent, Emily is selectively choosing her clients and didn't want to work with me, or they don't want to service a Black woman. The waiting room was empty, so they clearly weren't busy. No wonder this spa has such poor reviews. I try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but this experience was beyond frustrating. Why would I trust them to reschedule me again only to be disappointed? I'm still dealing with back pain and am no closer to finding relief. If anyone knows of good spas in Tuscaloosa, please let me know. read more

When you arrive to this day spa... you are invited by a beautiful Tuscan villa that also houses a plastic surgery office. The women at the check-in are very friendly and welcoming. They usher you into a relaxing and well decorated waiting room; it looks like something out of a magazine. They then take you back to a relaxing bed that is heated for the facial. I highly recommend the hydra-facial. My complexion has never looked better - and I suffer from acne. However, it is on the pricey side... so just make sure you save up. Petra did a wonderful job. I drive an hour and a half to come here, and it is truly worth it. Treat yourself right. read more

​first of all I love this place, my husband brings me for my birthday/ anniversary trip for the last 2 years, I get the deep tissue massage which was amazing ( thank you Joyce) you have to ask for Joyce she will change your life, and I get a Brazilian wax( thank you Victoria) she is great and she knows how to put you at ease. My husband treated me to a few services on my birthday, and I honestly wish that I hadn't gone. We arrived to a very cold "relaxation area". It was a chilly day and the fireplace wasn't on and it was cold. A spa should never be cold. The person who greeted us never explained the locker system or that I could even use it. Didn't mention coffee or tea. Just gave us paperwork and walked away. The real disappointment of my visit was the Facial- the esthetician obviously didn't review the paperwork or simply didn't care because she proceeded to spend most of the extractions using a lancet to painfully cut out millia on my face. No other aesthetician would touch them unless I specifically asked because most are around my eyes are it's a sensitive area. Not this aesthetician. She also went MIA for at least 10 minutes at the end of the treatment- said it would be a minute and poof was gone. I get facials once a month, I know good service and this wasn't even close. I mentioned my disappointment upon paying and the worker said she wanted to make it right and consult with her manager. She promised a follow up call and today is 10 days later, still no call. It's a shame because the nail technician did an excellent job and the massage was good. But first impressions weigh heavy and not making good on your mistakes and promises is bad business. I've had multiple facials and massages here. All great. They are one of the few places open on the weekends in West Alabama and East Mississippi. The relaxation room is a great place to hang out in a fuzzy robe. They also have lockers and showers. read more

Got a great massage today that was desperately needed. The location is in a quiet area tucked away off Rice Mine Road. The waiting room is very serene and puts you in this relaxing mood. Calming music playing...tea, coffee and ice water available...very comfy couches and chairs..smells great too. My massage therapist was very friendly. The massage itself was sooo great! The room was dim, very serene with relaxing music. The lotions felt so good and smelled great. And the fact that it was affordable was the cherry on top. With the tip I left, it came to under $100. I have been using Deeann for about 2 years and she has always been great to me. She does all my waxing and facials. Every time I have a question about something going on with my skin she has an answer. She had recommended some great products for me to work into my skin care regimen. Lovely appearance but the place needs a serious deep clean and I don't believe it to be the most hygienic. They had me lie down on a massage table with a covering that I could tell had been used before. Went for botox and felt the service was rushed. Never had procedure done before without the doctor offering to numb the area. I would not return again. Just hoping I like the results in a few days. read more

I have been here for two visits, had pedi, mani, facial and a massage. I think it was an okay experience. It is slightly more expensive than other spas in town, but the atmosphere kind of makes it worth it. It is nicely decorated, but not well maintained. I did find dusty surfaces, and spider webs in the corner of walls. The pedi and mani was supposed to be 1 hour each, but the lady rushed, because she wanted to go home on time. Instead, I was given 1.5 hours of my time. The mani was not done correctly, my cuticles were not cleaned properly. Skin was left on the nail. Facial was not bad. Though during what should have been a relaxing time, I was being sold products, which I did not appreciate. The masseuse asked me which part of my body I wanted extra focus on, I said head and shoulders, which he spent only a few minutes on. I did not feel it was taken care of adequately. Afterwards, my leg muscles hurt. I think he hurt something. It took 3 days for the pain to go away. read more

Spa Belle La Vie is without a doubt the best spa in Tuscaloosa. Far removed from the traffic and noise of McFarland, 15th St, and 69 South, Belle La Vie has a distinct advantage over those other spas in town. Nestled back at the end of a wooded culdesac, the peaceful quiet of the natural surroundings perfectly compliments the well designed and thoughtfully adorned spa. I wanted to get a gift card for my fiancee to have a day at the spa, so I scheduled myself a massage to check it out first. Let me tell you, the service and attention to detail from the moment I walked in the door until the moment I left was unparalleled. I happened to meet the manager when I walked in so she gave me a quick tour and then showed me to the relaxation room to await my massage therapist. The decor is the perfect blend of masculine and feminine. I felt very comfortable in the over-sized robe they gave me as I sat and admired the waterfalls (two indoors and one big one with a fish pond outside) and realized that while there were several women in the relaxation room with me I did not feel out of place. Then my therapist came in and very professionally introduced herself before showing me to the massage room. She proceeded to give me a brief explanation of what to expect and even asked me about my health history, which I have never had from a massage therapist before, but was great because I have a shoulder problem that most therapists overlook. Needless to say the massage was awesome, my shoulder felt great and I was totally rejuvenated. On my way to check out everyone I encountered was super nice and they all thanked me for coming in. I left with a gift card to cover a massage and a facial for my fiancee, but I have already scheduled myself another massage for next month and am thinking about getting a facial too! In summary, I have been to a couple of the other spas in town on those noisy streets mentioned above, and will be taking all of my business to Spa Belle La Vie from now on.
