Like any couple planning their big day, we were very anxious about our photos and photographer being perfect. To say they stepped up to the plate is an understatement. From our consultation call to receiving our photos, the entire team was so professional, personable, and kind. On our wedding day, we got a thunderstorm and a crash on the interstate delaying our start time. What could have derailed the day, our photographers took and made it work out even better than we'd planned. They helped the DJ and us move our timeline around and got our photos in the perfect sunset lighting to keep our older family members out of the peak heat. We also forgot to cut our cake (we had a small cake for just us and our guests had sheet cake) and even though we were fine to go without those photos, they still made sure to get our wedding rings and take a photo of them with the slice of cake. It was a small thing for them to think of getting a shot of, but that attention to detail and putting themselves in our shoes is what makes We The Blackwells so valuable. Our guests had nothing but kind things to say about their interactions, and our entire bridal party absolutely loved them! The goal of this review is to protect others from getting into a similar situation as my current--this photographer, Aurora, owner of Wild at Hart Imagery, having photos of me (and my friend) and not releasing them or responding to any form of communication. Not to mention the paid sitting fees, the time, the energy, the outfits, and the gas it took to drive to Magalia. All things I was willing to pay in exchange for high-quality photos. Unfortunately, Aurora didn't hold her end of the bargain. SHE NEVER SENT THE PHOTOS -- I was ready to pay several hundred dollars to have her edit the entire session of photos. Please execute caution before booking this photographer. Her website looks professional, and her photos are pretty -- her communication skills are sub-par, and, it's likely, you'll never see your photos. I wish I'd been warned, so consider this my warning. My heart is broken, these photos marked a milestone and were very sentimental to us, and unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to fix it. I have nothing to capture that moment in our life because Aurora decided we weren't worthy of communication and receiving our end product. It has been 5+ weeks since our photoshoot together -- maybe Aurora will see this review and finally respond to me.

From the beginning, the communication seemed very strained and unwelcoming and I couldn't understand why.. It seemed as though every question I asked were inconvenient to answer and the responses I did receive came across curt. There was also a repeated emphasis on her offering a "luxury experience," which began to feel more like it was meant to convince me, than reassuring. Things went all the way downhill when I received multiple similar or identical text messages in a row on the same day. Assuming they were automated, I replied "STOP" (a standard command to end automated texts). Janessa then personally messaged me, insisting these were not automated but "curated by" "her team", and immediately offered me the chance to cancel and receive a refund. Before I even had time to reply, she canceled my session herself within minutes (8). And less than a month before my scheduled shoot date. The real kicker was that she claimed to have refunded my $500 deposit but never actually did. To add insult to injury, she blocked me on all platforms, leaving me no way to reach out, even if I wanted to. I ultimately had to involve my bank to recover the money. This entire experience was unnecessarily stressful, especially while pregnant. No client, (and certainly no expectant mother) should be treated this way. She should be ashamed. What could have been a meaningful, exciting session turned into an upsetting ordeal, forcing me to find an alternate photographer in less than a month. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your maternity session. There are plenty of honest, reputable professionals with kindness, integrity, and compassion, qualities that make a far bigger difference than someone's self-promotion of a "luxury experience." Save yourself the stress and go to someone that is capable of getting off their high horse
