They are one of the most inconsistent funeral homes of all time!! It took over a month to get my dad cremated!! They continually lied to us and we had to do my dad's repast etc with out his body!! We told they they made us miss our flight and the manager said she was gonna refund her money for the flight, then when she went to get the check they gave so many excuses and we have not received the money!! I rarely leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share our experience in hopes it helps others make an informed decision. Unfortunately, our experience with Eternal Rest Funeral Home during one of the most difficult times in our lives was not what we expected. From the beginning, communication was inconsistent and, at times, completely lacking. We had to follow up multiple times for answers to simple questions. There was little compassion or personal attention shown, which only added to the emotional burden. On the day of the service, things felt rushed and disorganized. Several key details we discussed in advance were either overlooked or done incorrectly. The lack of professionalism and care was very disappointing, especially during such a sensitive moment for our family. Losing a loved one is hard enough--what you want most from a funeral home is support, empathy, and reliability. Sadly, we did not receive that here. I truly hope this was an isolated incident, but based on our experience, I would not recommend their services. read more

This place is a is a dump compared to other funeral homes I have been to. The women restrooms were gross out of toilet paper and paper towels, kiddie toilets that only inches high from the floor and cramped stalls and lastly no handicap stalls. had an extremely disappointing experience with Eternal Rest Funeral Home in Desoto, Texas. From start to finish, there were numerous errors and issues.visitation room was not adequately sized to accommodate all of our family and friends. We were forced to stand outside the room while others were crammed into the hallway. This created a safety hazard and a logistical nightmare. It was a disrespectful and uncomfortable situation for everyone involved. The staff at Eternal Rest Funeral Home displayed a complete lack of professionalism and empathy. They showed no sympathy towards our family during this difficult time. DVD that was supposed to contain our requested pictures was incomplete. The staff handling it forgot to send the necessary email to their partners. I will never ever use them again, nor do I recommend them not even to bury a pet. read more

The lack of empathy, professionalism and decency is appalling. This facility was not my choice but the transport department was called by the police and our loved one was brought here. I am filing a complaint with the state of Texas Funeral commission. A $1500 bracelet was lost that no one there can seem to provide answers on, much less take ownership or apologize. They were only interested in what services I wanted from the first minute of my call. When I asked why she kept interrupting me, Yolanda said "what is your problem". NEGATIVE STARS!!! DO NOT WHATSOEVER GO TO ETERNAL REST FUNERAL HOME!!! I have never in my life experienced such an unprofessional, uncaring, and disrespectful establishment. For them it wasn't already bad enough that i lost my lil brother at only 36, they felt the need to increase the pain by their actions. From start to finish this was a horrible experience from the flowers to the burial and it still isn't over 2 months later. Not one person made sure that anything was done down to the grave being dug. We had arranged a graveside funeral and went over everything with them and they even had us on speaker phone while talking to the cemetery and everyone involved with the process from digging the grave to having the burial vault made and the tent and chairs set up. We arrived 30 mins before the time so i could finish setting up. We found no tent or chairs were set up, no grave was dug, no vault was made for the casket to be set in. Nothing was done whatsoever! We had to have the funeral service with my lil bro still in the back of their car with a picture of him set where the grave was supposed to be dug. After the service was over they were finally able to get the grave dug, but no vault for the casket. We had less than an hour to view him and say our goodbyes before they wanted to leave. i am still upset just about everything i had to go through just on that day because of Eternal Rest Funeral Homes lack of everything. Now my mother has been trying to get the death certificate. She has called several times to be told that she will receive a call back and then receives nothing. We are trying to get a case together, because this was a wrongful death and cannot continue without the death certificate. I finally had to call them today, because they would not get back with my mother concerning this. I was able to get in touch with someone that could tell me when we would be looking to receive it. They stated it would be in next week for us to pick up. I told them this is supposed to be sent in the mail to us, due to how far we live from them and that was stated when we ordered them. Then since my name wasn't on anything they told me that i mother had to call them and set everything up. I told them this whole thing has been horrible with them not doing what they are supposed to do and making sure everything was taken care of as it should have been. that she has been trying to contact and no one will get back to her, so are they actually going to get with her this time, because that is why am the one having to call now. You want to make it even more unprofessional they hung up on me in the middle of speaking. If you want more pain in your life than you already have with losing a loved one, then this is the place to go!! read more

I had the worst experience with this establishment of my life. I will never ever use them again, nor do I recommend them not even to bury a pet. First, let's talk about the body, I wasn't pleased with the work at all. The obituary had so many mistakes a fifth grader could have done a better job. I ordered 9 death certificates, it has been a month since we buried my daughter and I have not received any not even the free one. And please don't get me started on the money that I paid for such unprofessional services, it was definitely a rip off. DO NOT LET THIS FUNERAL HOME SERVE YOUR FAMILY If I could do zero stars, I would. Where can I start. First, let me start by saying my younger brother classes on July 29th. They picked him up at the Dallas Medixal Center. I believe around the 3rd of August. We were told that we could not make any changes until the day of his services. Which I thought was strange, we have delt with plenty of funeral homes with loved ones and this is the worst experience we had. They did horrible makeup on my brother and said we only had the option to have a closed casket! This was not an option! I was firm when I tied them that they WILL DO MY BROTHER the way they picked him up from Dallas Medical Examiner. Then, the staff lost his obituary. Once I raised hell. They went back and redid his makeup. When we got him back, his brand new suit was dirty, the casket was filthy, and the casket was dirty with hair from another body. The entire experience was TERRIBLE. My brother deserve a much better service than what they provided. On top of that, instead of the staff showing empathy or taking accountability. They lied and told the owner and others that my brother had been out 30 days, which is why he was dark. Eternal Rest Funeral Home is not a place to take your family. As soon as I post this, a person from the funeral home will post a positive review acting as though they are a customer. Please do not let them fool you!!!! read more

I have contemplated writing this review since I buried my mother on December 10, 2022. However, I feel obligated to warn other families about Eternal Rest Funeral Home in order to prevent them from going through the same painful experience. Our family entrusted Eternal Rest with arranging our mother's burial, but we were treated without compassion, empathy, and respect. Instead of honoring our mother's life and legacy, Eternal Rest Funeral home treated our family like ATM machines and put our mother to shame. The worst of them all was Ms. Sheri-King Franklin, the manager. Throughout the entire process, Ms. Franklin showed little to no compassion or care for our loss. She rushed our mother's burial, had sub-par communication, and never took responsibility for any mistakes she made throughout the process. She spoke poorly to her staff who attempted to correct her shortcomings to help our family. If she felt that we were not making decisions fast enough on our mother's burial, she belittled us. Ms. Franklin even went as far to say that my father was acting "mentally slow," and that I was acting broke after I paid her in full for her services. She belittled me for not looking presentable after losing my mother and treated me like I was broke. I paid for my mother's wake and funeral in full on December 7, 2022. My mother's wake was scheduled for December 9th, and her funeral December 10th. The week leading up to my mother's funeral, I was in constant contact with the funeral staff and made several visits to Eternal Rest to make sure everything was prepared and paid for. I also attempted to contact Ms. Franklin, but communication was close to non-existent. Because of Franklin's lack of communication, I asked my friend to write my mother's obituary. The day of my mother's wake was the worst day of my life. Ms. Franklin contacted me an hour before my mother's wake on December 9th to tell me that I had to fix the format of my mother's obituary or she wouldn't have obituaries for her funeral. My friend who had flown out of town to support me during my mother's funeral and who wrote the obituary, spent the entirety of the wake working with Ms. Franklin to fix the format. Because of Eternal Rest's faulty equipment, and lack of knowledge on how to work the equipment on Ms. Franklin's part, the obituaries printed with two blank pages in the middle of each booklet. Instead of taking responsibility for the duplicate pages, Ms. Franklin attempted to charge my family extra money for the extra pages. Eternal Rest was contracted to print 150 obituaries for my mother's funeral. When I attempted to negotiate with Ms. Franklin, and asked her how many obituaries she could print for me with the extra blank pages, she spat out, "You shouldn't get any." After viewing my mother's body for the first time since she passed, Ms. Franklin approached me to tell me that she forgot to charge me $850.00 for my mother's concrete burial box. She then proceeded to add an additional $550.00 for the programs. It didn't matter that I was visibly emotionally distraught. Any balances or arrangements that needed to be taken care of should have been addressed prior to the wake when I was contacting the funeral staff and Ms. Franklin the week before the funeral. Additionally, Eternal Rest was contracted to provide a memorial video presentation, to which we never received. Ms. Franklin never took responsibility for her unprofessionalism or actions. Ms. Franklin's lack of professionalism, compassion, and ethics has no place in the funeral industry. My complaints don't extend to the rest of the funeral staff at Eternal Rest. If Ms. Franklin had half of the morals and empathy as the rest of the staff, our experience could have been much less painful. If Eternal Rest Funeral Home considers getting rid of the evil person who is Sheri-King Franklin, the funeral home would be a much better place to do business with. read more

I wish I could leave a MINUS five stars for this review! I would NOT recommend Eternal Rest Desoto Funeral Home to anyone expecting a funeral home with professional and experienced employees. I planned my cousin's funeral from NC having never been to TX. I was calling different funeral homes getting quotes and friend of my cousin told me they knew the owner of Eternal Rest. Sheri Franklin talks a good game, but once we did the contract it was chaos, mis-information, lack of follow thru from start to finish! My funeral package included the obituary and knowing that we were coming from another state days before the funeral, there was no timeline of what to expect and when certain things needed to be done.  I was constant asking about the process. Every time I called the receptionist would ask my name put me on hold and the phone would either hang up or I would be left on hold for an excessively long time.  I was always told that they were having phone issues or that someone would call me back and none ever did. They kept telling me that they would send me a program template to do the obituary and never did! I had to go online and create my own. Then, after they did the program and asked me to review it the day before the funeral, I made corrections that were were not updated on the program passed out at the funeral. The cemetery required the open& close fee be paid on Mon for the funeral scheduled on Thurs. Sheri has me on a 3-way call with the cemetery person where she is rudely telling them that they will get their money on Tues and they are firmly telling her they must have it on Mon if the funeral is to happen Thurs.  This was so unprofessional and not a call that a family member should have been on.  This was a financial situation between the funeral home and the cemetery.  We had an assignment for payment thru insurance so I did not need to be involved. And Sheri had to pay the fee on Mon as was expected. Then, we were told the funeral could be live streamed so family not in attendance could stream the funeral. But, as we're getting ready to walk into the funeral, they tell us their internet had just went down and asked could we use our phone to pull it up thru Facebook live! Totally not acceptable when we're walking in the funeral and caught off guard! So no live stream. I thought the worst was over when I was finally just waiting for the final death certificate. Sheri calls to tell me it came in and they cannot send it regular mail. They must send it next day overnight for tracking with signature with a charge of $50. This charge seems excessive and the mailing of the final death certificate should've been included in the contract charges. But, I authorize the credit card charge specifically for next day delivery.  I call Sheri to check on tracking when I don't get it. She tells me she will call me back. Over 3 hrs pass. I call back and ask for her. The receptionist ask for my name, puts me on hold, then comes back and tells me there was a mix up and that the "guy" misunderstood and sent it regular mail and that they were going to get the owner to cut a check to refund me the $50 and I should expect the letter in a week.  I was pissed! I told her that I would've appreciated if someone had actually called me and told me this instead of having me waiting for nothing.  Then, I started trying to get in touch with the owner. I left a message for him to call me. I saw that I had a missed call from the funeral home and no voicemail. I called the funeral home trying to reach the owner Gerald Weatherall and Sheri told me that it was him that called me (and left no message).  A pastor and a bishop that  clearly is not engaged or concerned with how the business operates or treats people.  I should've chosen Chamberland Funerals & Cremations to service my cousin's funeral. I've heard nothing but good things about their professionalism and compassion for families.  Chose Chamberland! read more

This letter is to bring attention that my family is extremely disappointed with the service provided by your business, Eternal Rest Funeral Home. On the day of my sisters funeral, you ended your closing remarks by saying "If you have a problem with us, tell us and not social media" Well that's what I attempted to do. There were several issues with the homegoing process. To start, her body was not ready for viewing at the agreed upon time. Family and friends were at your establishment with no body to view. When you finally put the body out, the presentation was not acceptable. One of my family members had to assist with your job. I myself called several times to discuss the issues but was greeted by your receptionist (Ecola) with a poor disposition. After voicing my concerns with her, she stated she didn't have anything to do with it. I told her I didn't want her body shown until the family felt that she looked presentable for viewing. She advised that she have no time for this because there were people waiting. Another complaint, the husband was denied access to view the body when he was listed as next of kin. After dealing with the pre-service issues, the family was again distraught by having a viewing during the services . Instructions were specifically given in writing and shown on the program to not open the casket anymore after the service begin. The funeral directors took it upon themselves to open the casket without the family's consent. Also during the service, one of the funeral attendants flirted with a friend of the family. He approached her and made inappropriate remarks to her. This behavior was witnessed by several other friends of the family and they felt that his actions were very much out of line. I was recommended the services of Eternal Rest by a friend considered as family. He assured me that the staff was very professional and compassionate. Well to my surprise, this was not the case. I voiced my grievances to Mr. Weatherall and he responded with such disdain for the family's turmoil caused by his establishment. Not to mention, Mr. Weatherall was my first point of contact when I initially contacted the funeral home. I also spoke with Mrs. Weatherall and she informed me that he, Mr. Weatherall, had acted in this manner with other families. This explained why the receptionist disposition was that way...It starts at the TOP! I advised that I would be providing a review on the services that my family and I received. His response to me was this is a free county and I could say whatever I wanted to say. He was right in one aspect, this is a free country and we do have "freedom of speech" Therefore, I am speaking freely on my family's behalf. During a time of grief, compassion, concern and professionalism toward the family should be a priority. we didn't experience this at all. I would encourage you to go back to business of customer service. That being, "Customer First", not your selfishness on inability to display professionalism. Your actions were not warranted and should be rectified if you continue to provide services to customers. Last but not least, when my sister's husband came to pick up her ashes, not only was he afraid that the ashes wouldn't be done due to such poor service, he had to go back to the funeral home because the paperwork was not provided to him to transport her ashes. This has been a life changing experience for my family and I. We will NEVER forget how you made us feel by using you and your staff with our love one. read more
