I have been taking all of my vehicles here to get smog checked because there is usually a coupon in the Pennysaver. After talking to John, the manager, I have learned they may be stopping the coupons soon. If you need a smog check, you'd better hurry. However, I've learned that the guys here do good work other than smog checks. I have brought my cars here for other work and they are always quick and they do a good job. They don't try to rip you off by selling you the most expensive parts and there labor costs are pretty average. They do just about anything except tires and alignments. These guys totaled my car a few years back! See the newer lifts in the garages, those are because of my suburban that they tried to repair 3 times!!! I broke down the day after getting it back for a transmission rebuild. Had to fight to get them to pay for the tow. Took them 2 weeks to re-re-build the transmission, again. When I called to check on it they said I should come in to talk to them. They said my truck had fallen off the lift at night and they didn't know how! REALLY!!! I saw the bent transmission jack in the corner! They tried to say that my truck ruined their computer and some of their property... Are you kidding??? They brought the truck down off the rack and forgot to remove the transmission jack, it tipped the truck off the rack and bent the frame in 4 places. Then they wanted to charge me for the work they did. Chaney himself was being a total jerk! Had to total my suburban and buy another one! From a $2k repair to $50k!!!! VERY DISHONEST!!! POOR WORK!!! Another visit to Chaney's this morning, this time to smog my truck. I cannot express how thankful I am to have a truly honest automotive repair facility to service my vehicle. Today I arrived at 8 AM but found out that James the technician was caught up in some serious morning traffic on the 215 freeway. Because of my past dealings with Chaney's, I refuse to go anywhere else for automotive work and waited it out for James to arrive. James arrived at 8:45 and by 9:30 I was out the door with a smog certificate. As in the past I was treated very well and fairly by everyone at Chaney's. Ethanac Smog shop does a great job. My wife called to see when she can bring her car in to get it smog. When we arrived he started on the car as soon as we pulled in. It's a small smog shop, but the person who runs the shop does a great job, I would recommend this place to anyone that needs their car smog. read more

Took my motorhome in to Chaney's for a $60 smog check. (Had never been there before but it was close to my house and they offered a good price.) Been advised not to get smog checks done at any auto' repair' places because they usually fail (but will give you a free 're-check' if you let them do the repairs). Decided not to worry about that because my RV passed with no problem 2 years ago (at a smog only station) and has only had improvement maintenance so I felt positive it would pass with no problem and save me $30 in cert. fees. The mechanic ran the test and told me I failed but for $144 (maybe more but that would be the minimum) he would make some adjustments and try to see if it would pass. I told him I had my own mechanic and would have him look at it and then wanted a free re-check. He said he would not give me a recheck unless they did the repair work themselves. My RV runs perfect so that wasn't going to happen. Drove straight to a smog check station and they took me right in and it PASSED with no problem. Went back to Chaney's and told the mechanic it passed (showed him the paperwork) and asked for my money back. He said they did not give refunds. I asked to speak with the owner and he took me to him. The owner told me that sometimes that happens and they do not normally give refunds. I told him I did not want to pay for a faulty test and he decided to give me my refund. I waited outside while he printed up a check for me. When he gave it to me he reminded me, once again, how kind he was being in giving it to me because they do not 'normally' do that. I can't comment on their repair work but I was not happy with this visit. I am thankful he gave me my refund but just wanted to warn people 'this isn't normal' for them. read more
