I was trying to find a different smog place that I think was in the parking lot in front of this one but I missed the entrance and went into the entrance for this smog shop because they had a bunch of signs around advertising's smog check. I'm glad I did I was in and out in less than ten minutes. I also appreciated one set price of 38$, other places offer coupons that make it seem cheaper but there's hidden fees. Horrible place I would not recommend this place to anybody they don't give you the proper paperwork and they don't help assist the place is dirty small sketchy all around very uncourteous. To answer comment from owner: Yes I have been to your business I attended to back in February 2018 the proper paperwork I was not given was the certification of pass and receipt was not given either the electronic form was not sent to the DMV so when I came back into the business to try and get the proper paperwork the person behind the desk was very rude and unhelpful eventually AAA actually helped me accommodate the proper paperwork. read more

The guy is very dishonest. The sign outside said $36 for vehicles 2000+, which is already a bit high. My vehicle is 2001, and my bill was $60 with no explanation why. I do not expect to have to "haggle" to get a price that was clearly advertised. Last time, I used another place and it was $45 total, with no false advertisements or haggling. I'm giving a one-star review because there's no lower rating available. I feel that we were scammed. We've been bringing our cars to this shop for years with good service and referring friends & family. We won't be back ever based upon today's experience! Brought in an older car today that has been sitting idle for awhile. The owner warned (more like set us up) right away that if it didn't pass, he wouldn't test it again for free, per his sign, as it was 1999 vehicle and his retest guarantee only applied to 2000 and newer cars. I told him we just drove it over from the repair shop a few minutes away and asked if we should get it out on the freeway for a few minutes to get it ready to test. He assured me it was not necessary (turned out to be a lie). I asked again because it was my understanding it needed to run for awhile before testing, but I deferred to him based upon our past positive experiences with his shop--big mistake! After the test failed (his obvious plan), he said drive it on the freeway for 60 miles, and then bring it back in for retest and pay another $35! It seems rather obvious this was part of his plan all along--to get 2 or more smog fees for older cars! He likely knew it would fail, didn't care if it failed, and was likely hoping it failed, so that he could get one or two more additional tests @ $35 a crack. I felt ripped off and embarrassed that I fell for this obvious scam. To add insult-to-injury the guy was very rude and unprofessional in the way he addressed the issue calling me a liar about asking him if we should get it warmed up on the freeway first. Even if that was true, why would he do the test on a cold vehicle knowing the likelihood for a failed test. The answer is greed related I'm sure. He didn't offer to retest it for free, which I feel should have been done. We asked for a free re-test which he rudely denied. He reassured me he didn't care that he lost my business forever and to never come back. He'll likely go out of business soon with this attitude and nefarious new business practice. We will also be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau. Beware of this place! Saw the owners response. He should watch his video. His claims are untrue. What a scammer! He knew the test would fail which he saw an an opportunity to make me pay for another test. Shame on him. read more

This place is dirty and slow and has a bad reputation, so owner is trying to extract money off the customers by any means necessary to stay afloat. There are lots of good options out there. Use them. I went to Smog Star Test Only after I made the dumb mistake of taking my car to a test and repair shop (EAC Excellent Auto Care and Tire in Temecula). I learned the hard way some test & repair shops, like EAC, will advertise less for a smog test so they can go through your car with a fine toothed comb and find a reason to fail you to cash in on repairs. I searched other smog check stations in the area and noticed Smog STAR has a "Smog Preparation and Advice" section on their website. When I went, the owner was clearly there to help. He is easy to talk to, honest, and informative. Because I am used to my car not needing a smog check, I failed to see until the last minute that my son's car needed one. He had to get to OC for work by noon on a Sunday, the day the registration was due. We were in a pickle. We found a location that showed on their website that they were open on Sundays at 9 AM. So he went over there to take care of this before heading to work. However, the website was incorrect and the place was closed. I called Smog Star Test Only to see how quickly they could do his test, because they showed on the website opening at 9:30. Kal answered the phone but he was not there yet because they're hours had changed to 10. However he rushed over to the location where my son was waiting and hurried and got him on his way. Why would I go anywhere else to smog my car. Cal took my car in immediately and I was in and out in ten minutes. If you were not aware, it is usually better to go to a test only station for smog because they have nothing to gain by your pass or fail.
