Went in on a Wednesday afternoon to have a few inches cut off my hair. I knew I wanted quite a bit cut off so I picked this salon based on reviews. I was the only customer in the salon so no issues with covid. Was asked the covid questions, temp taken when i entered and staff was wearing Masks. Salon was also clean. The woman who cut my hair was very nice. I found it odd she didn't use a cape, but didn't bother me at the time. She seemed to be taking her time and cutting in small sections. When i got in the car i thought my hair felt a bit off- got home and confirmed. My hair was completely uneven! I called the next morning and they were very good about getting me back in for a fix. The woman who fixed my hair was nice as well but also ended up taking off another inch or two in an effort to fix it. She seemed annoyed at having to fix someone else mistake (not her fault) My hair ended up much shorter than i originally wanted, and it was not the experience i would expect for the price I paid. I've been here twice and while both services were great I was disappointed that my 75 minute facial was cut short to 60 minutes. I told this to the employee at the front desk and I was offered a free add on up to a certain price for my next service. While I appreciated the understanding and attempt at remediating the situation, I would have rather gotten my money back for the difference in cost of the services. I have now been there twice and can't wait to make my next apportionment. For me, the best part hasn't just been the ambiance (which completely lives up to its name) but the quality of treatments. Their "Signature Facial" is the best facial treatment I have ever gotten anywhere (and I am a skincare products addict so I feel qualified to say this! ) The reason is that unlike other spas I have been to, this service not only incorporates a little bit of everything (including micro-dermabrasion which most spas only feature as a stand-alone treatment that must be booked as part of a series) but it is also truly tailored to the skin concerns of the client. Case in point - my friend and I each booked this facial and because her concern is anti-aging, her facial included micro-current therapy while mine included LED lighting to conquer texture issues. End result? We both walked out glowing with noticeably improved skin. And.... I had opted to add on lymphatic facial massage to reduce puffiness/water retention. That also yielded a noticeable result (bye-bye, puffiness) AND - unexpected bonus- the next day my sinuses drained and (as a chronic allergy sufferer) I could breathe more freely than I had in months. I came to get a facial with Katie who was incredible - she was incredibly kind and welcoming & knew how to treat my facial concerns. She gave me a great product recommendation which was exactly what I needed. I then came back to get a haircut with Paola who was very diligent in making sure my hair looked how I wanted. She was also incredibly welcoming and warm and did an amazing job on my hair. Both times, I came out feeling fresh & really happy with the whole experience. They were a life saver! They immediately took me in as a walk-in for hair and makeup. The salon where I originally was scheduled for wedding hair and makeup was closed permanently and I was not aware until that day. I called several salons in the area that didn't have anyone available. I lucked out calling this salon and they were so gracious and helpful. Ana did an amazing job creating a romantic updo for my bridesmaid hair and the make up artist did such a glamorous natural look using special acne prone makeup products. Hidden gem in North Jersey that makes you feel rejuvenated, relaxed and overly amazing. I couldn't believe the service, ambiance and staff at Ethereal Day Spa and Salon. I've traveled many places for a massage from Bali to Mexico, and hands down this was an experience I'll never forget. The massage chairs actually are flexible and bend! From that, the masseuse was able to focus on areas where it intensified the area and was able to break away knots/tension easier. I decided to host a client event there and bring 10 of my favorite clients to experience the best facials and massages. All the ladies were overly relaxed and enjoyed themselves. Thanks to Gloria, Marifran, Paola and Carmela for a once and a lifetime spa experience for us all! I'll definitely be making the trip out there for another and try a salon service! This salon is great. Everyone is friendly, and the service is excellent. Anna, who is my stylist, does an excellent blowout. I have long hair, and she manages to do a great blowout in 30 min. I personally think that is amazing. In the past I would have to sit through an hour long blowout. I met Heather at my emergency haircut/blowout appointment and scheduled my appointment with her immediately. Best place for massages. Go to Marwa, she is amazing. I have gotten facials from Paola the owner as well and it is amazing. So relaxing and just great. You get what you pay for so if you want to splurge and really enjoy yourself, I recommend Ethereal. For pedicures I would stick to a cheaper option to be honest... but for massages and facials of all sorts this is the best place around!!!!!! The front desk staff is so friendly and accommodating. I had to change my appointment several times and they were extremely patient with me. It is very clean and comfortable here as well. I recently used Ethereal for a wedding -- the whole bridal party had their hair done here, since it's the bride's regular place. I had zero belief that they wouldn't do a good job, since the bride's hair ALWAYS looks fantastic. Bridey-poo wanted us to all have our hair down and straight -- fine by me, except my hair is ridiculously thick and curly and takes FOREVER to straighten. The girl who did my hair was a doll, and didn't even complain about how long it took to get my hair straight (twice the time any other other bridesmaids took. sorry!). We talked and joked, they gave us champagne to celebrate the big day (at 8am, i was hesitant, but after the pre-party till 4am the night before.......what the hell, right?), and had us out the door with time to spare! They didn't even mind us literally laying on their couches with hangovers, and running back and forth to each other's locations to check out how everyone's hair looked. If they were closer to me, i might have to ditch Marsha (JUST KIDDING MARSHA I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT NEXT WEEK PLEASE DON'T KILL ME AND/OR CHOP OFF ALL MY HAIR I LOVE YOUUUU!!!). if you live in the area, give them a try! i understand their spa services are great too (too bad I didn't get to try any, but we were on a tight schedule that day of course) oh, and they have an incentive program for services -- one of those "for every dollar you spend, get blah blah credit towards future services". if you plan on going there regularly, it might be a great deal! read more

This time I found my hairdresser. I just had a 3rd baby 4 months ago and my roots were long and my previous hair color not the best work ever... Elena saved the day. I was a pretty tough customer to please since I had yet to find a hair stylist who is talented with blondes. Well Elena is. I wasn't my usual talkative as I was quietly expecting to see brassy or yellow... Elena was putting up with me along the way and I am glad I found her. Miracle worker. I've read the other reviews here, and I am a bit confused, because it doesn't sound like any of the previous reviewers went to the same Ethereal that I go to! I've been a customer since I moved to the area about five years ago. I've had various staff for manicures, pedicures, haircuts, massages, and facials at various times, and I've never had a bad experience. I had a friend up from Maryland for a girls weekend last year, and she still raves about the day we spent being pampered at the spa. The staff has always been nice, including the desk staff. Paola, the owner, greets me by name when I walk in. I'm not an elite customer by any stretch, so this personal attention to detail really impresses me. read more

Let me start by saying I was in this salon for 3 hours to have my shellac nails removed, get a regular manicure, and a trim on my hair. Plus I was 1 of 2 other customers in the salon....THREE HOURS, really?! I was in town from Chicago visiting my parents and needed a little pampering. Also I am moving back to Morris County in June so I thought I'd test out their services. I needed a regular spot for my mani/pedis and a place for all mine and my bridesmaids wedding needs over the next year. Let's just say, I will never go back to Ethereal. Let's start with my nails. I was on time for my appointment, ended up waiting about 30 minutes until the facialist (right title?) finally started the removal process on the shellac. Next thing I know, it's been 15 minutes and the shellac is barely coming off. I was told that "whatever you got in Chicago might not be shellac" WELL IT WAS. They call it no chip here but it's the same bottles Etheral uses! So they proceed to try and remove it again, the facialist leaves because she has a customer and Mawa, the massage therapist, takes her place. Mawa is a sweet person but I am wondering now if she's even licensed to do nails? She straight out told me she normally does massages and nails she does "every now and then." Am I wrong or don't you need to be certified in NJ to do nails? If she is or is not licensed, I have no clue but one thing I can say is she does not know how to do a proper manicure. First the shellac was not removed completely, second the nail polish was streaky and what got me the most was how long it took, about 2 hours from the shellac removal process to finally walk over to the stylist for my haircut! Today, I removed the nail polish to see that my nails STILL have shellac on them, such a disappointment. When I sat down for my haircut, I actually confided in my stylist and explained how unhappy was with my manicure. He agreed that my nail polish was "streaky" and that this was not a great manicure! He also said that Mawa does not do manicures that often! At the end of my cut, he basically went up to one of the managers and explained my situation. The woman then told me I could come back the following day for a color change. Her attitude towards the situation showed she was uninterested so I basically agreed to the color change but never showed up to the salon. The haircut on the other hand was good. I am use to my regular stylist in Chicago so I can't compare the services. He was quick, clean, and did exactly what I asked. He was not much of a talker but hey everyone isn't. At times, however, he did seem more interested in the comings and goings of people in the salon than my actual hair. I would probably not come back for a haircut either, nothing against my stylist but the cost compared to the level of detail and attention giving does not match up. I guess I will try Depasquale next time. I am quickly running out of nearby options! If anyone has other suggestions, PLEASE PM ME. I am desperate to find a regular spot once I move back to Morris County! read more

I really want to give Ethereal higher marks, but unfortunately, I can't. We went here because they were running a special on spray tans. This was my first time getting a spray tan (hold the Jersey jokes, please lol) so I was curious to see the results. I was sure to exfoliate before I went in (they never reminded me to do that when they called to confirm the appointment) so there wouldn't be any streaking, etc. The appearance of the place is very impressive and tranquil. It's bright and clean and inviting. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. It seemed as though they were trying to mimic DePasquale, which is a-ok in my book since I love that spa. They offered free cappuccino and treats and had magazines to read and a comfy lounge near a waterfall to distract you while you wait. My friend went in first then I went in. The girl administering the spray was nice but seemed a bit young and inexperienced. After she applied the solution, there was definitely small but noticeable deposits of color all over my skin and my jeans were literally stuck to me when I put my clothes back on. She assured me this was normal and said to wait a day to shower and the residue would come off. She was right, it did. However, the uneven-ness (is that a word?) of the overall tan persisted. My friend had it much worse than me since she is fair. Her feet and heels were caked with a dark residue and her armpits as well. As for me, the color on my calves and feet is uneven. I just think that no matter how inexpensive the service is, the client has a right to have it done right. In this case, it was not administered properly. So I can't say I'd ever go back to Ethereal for this service again. Although I might try a massage or facial since the general experience and atmosphere were nice. read more

I came here to get a manicure and pedicure because it had fairly good reviews. On a positive note, the salon is nice and clean and the staff was very friendly and attentive. However, I would have to give it one star because the quality of the mani/pedi was so poor that as an owner of a salon I would be embarrassed to let someone pay over $100 for a mani/pedi that was so terrible. It is not an exaggeration to say that I could have painted my own nails and had them look better than what I got at ethereal day spa. The color was streaky as it was not applied right. The manicurist did not stay within the lines of my nail and told me to just wash off the polish on my fingers to get it off. The polish on my thumb was not close to my cuticle, making it look like I got my thumb painted two weeks before the rest of my nails. There was no top coat applied to my feet and as a result the polish chipped within hours of leaving the salon. I would have complained, only that the whole process took them entirely too long and after spending slightly over three hours there I just wanted to leave. I really did enjoy the staff and the set up.. but I would never ever come here again.. ever. read more

I don't remember the stylist's name but she was very nice and listened to what I was said. The second time I got a swedish massage and ear candeling. Both treatments were extremely relaxing and I would definitely go back atleast for another massage. Only drawback is that they stylist never trains the color staff to clean color off the forehead, neck and ears. Technique needs to be shared. I came to Ethereal for the first time and Fedele colored my hair. This is by far the best my hair has ever been colored. I gave him carte blanche to choose color and he is a master. He definitely puts his years of experience into his work. The reception staff was very nice and made you feel comfortable. The shampoo girl was sweet and makes a mean cappuccino. Although I only had my hair done there, Fedele showed me the spa area and it was impressive; state of the art and a very peaceful place. My boyfriend gave me a gift card for a day of pampering. I have driven by Ethereal a million times, but never went in. I really enjoyed my experience. When I walked in I was warmly greeted. The receptionist was really nice and offered me a beverage while I was filling out some paperwork. Next I was greeted by Maryfran, who was doing my facial. She was very sweet as well. She brought me into the locker room and got me set up for my spa services. The lockers have combination locks, which are hard to open, but other than that, getting set up wasn't a problem. I sat in the spa lounge, which was really nice. There is a waterfall in the room, and it was very relaxing. Then it was time for my facial. Maryfran was really great. I have very sensitive skin, so I was really nervous about having someone work on my face, but she was excellent. She explained what she was using and doing, and she really knew a lot about skincare. Next was time for my massage. Marla was my therapist and it was wonderful. She didn't talk much, but explained that she was going to keep quiet so I could relax. I fell asleep!! Which I never ever do! After Marla opened my locker for me (because I couldn't open it by myself) she also did my pedicure. It was equally as wonderful as my massage. They use hot stones during their pedicures and it was so amazing. I would definately go back again. I am interested in some of the body treatments they offer, and also hair services. I had to walk out this salon without getting anything done from Elana. . Had taken an appointment for haircut and hair color but the lady kept asking me for pictures of the styles i like. I would really want them to suggest what looks good on my face as far as haircut is concerned. She would just not start working on my hair...kept talking and asking me for pictures while i was just ready to ! Regarding hair color, i told her i had put heena for half hour in my hair before three months, and she said she cannot work on my hair. seriously?! when i said, i really want to get highlights done and if she can color just one strand to check if the color stays, she started saying that she will charge $20 for testing even though if it works i will get it done all over. and then she kept talking about how she can make money by attending other customer instead of testing my hair, blabla. My husband and I went in for pedicures, it was his first and as for myself...I am always skeptical about using those footbath/sinks. I just don't think they are easily sanitized with all those jets. Anyway, the atmosphere was kind of lockerroom cold, the young lady working on me was pleasant and did a great job. My husbands service provider was quiet, I assumed because my service was going well so was his, only to discover his rough heels later that night. I actually called the next day, just wanting to inform them of the poor service thinking they could improve on perhaps the next client. Boy was surprised to find out the owner was his pedicurist! Disappointing in many ways, not only was the pedicure mediocre the price was high and the fact that the owner did not greet us as such was incredible. read more

I have a $100 gift certificate for a facial that I cannot use because my skin never reacts well to facials. I explained my situation and asked if I could use it towards other services (Mani/Pedi, Hair cut) and was given a simple, "No". As a result, I now have a $100 gift certificate that i cannot use and will unfortunately go to waste. There are so many day spas in the area . . . you have to differentiate yourself and do what you can to convince customers to want to bring you their business, as well as the business of their friends. Hello Yelpers! I've just started coming to this salon because my hairdresser, Fedele changed locations and is working here. Do not hesitate for one moment to book a hair service with this genius. He has found the perfect hair color for me, and rescued me from a batched perm job I wasn't expecting a couple of years ago. Really, it took over a year for that disaster to grow out, and he nursed my hair back to health. So the really fun thing is, I have a cutting of my early childhood hair. The color hadn't changed at all. I brought the hair sample to Fedele, and he matched it perfectly. My natural red faded to a light and boring shade of brown. He revived the color and quality of my hair. Stay tuned: this salon offers massage treatments, and I'm booked for my first one soon!
