Overall: Busy space with decent music. Surprisingly, they allow for reserved spaces even on Friday nights. Service: We had one server for approximately a group of 15 and she did a good job of managing orders and tabs. All of the staff were nice and I appreciated the added security near the women's restroom. Food: I ordered the Ethyl nachos - the portion was HUGE - enough for two to four people easily. While the portion was plentiful, it was not enjoyable because of the temperature. The chicken was actually cold to the touch despite coming out quickly, and only pockets of the cheese were warm -definitely nothing was hot. In fact, everyone's food came out really fast but no one seemed to fully enjoy their meals. Drinks - I ordered the Sober Sunset and it did the trick. My companion did state his drink was too watery. I was extremely annoyed by my service tonight by the bartender working on the first floor towards the bathroom (she was wearing a black crop top and had her hair in a pony tail). My roommate and I (around 11pm) ordered the 2/$5 mom water ALL DAY, EVERYDAY deal, to which the bartender responded "11" and we said "the sign says-" to which we were cut off and she said "I promise you it's 11" and we said "but sign says-" to which we were cut off yet again "you don't wanna fucking argue with me" and I said "I'm not trying to argue I'm just trying to understand" and she said "you are trying to argue it's 11 dollars" I work in food service myself and I feel there could've been a more polite response to my questions. My friends and I went here after our last final to celebrate and I had a good time. This bar is off of North High so parking could be tricky. Street parking or a garage would be the best option. When we first walked in, we noticed that the floors were sticky and it smelled interesting, but it was kinda understandable because it is a bar. I got the Crispy Chicken sandwich and it was good. I've only been here for brunch, but let me just say that the food is everything I've needed and more on a Sunday after a night out! We got the Buffalo Chicken Breakfast Nachos and these yummy Oreo pancakes! It is an absurd amount of food for the price and it unbelievably delicious! Nachos were $12 and literally twice the size of my head and pancakes were $15. I think the pancakes were a little pricier compared to other menu items, but they were pretty big and delicious! Came here on a work visit to Columbus and the event organizers had booked the entire restaurant which was a huge surprise to me. There's absolutely no parking here so take an Uber or walk if you're near downtown Columbus. They had an enormous amount of catered food but I noticed that the shrimp quesadillas were consumed the fastest. I flagged down one of the staff to ask if any more would come out. This campus gem was full of hungover students that waded through the neighborhood walk of empty cans and red solo cups. An 8 or 10 stairstep climb from the small metered lot. Concrete floors and bartop. That bar smell is undeniable. I was second guessing my adventure to try some special menu items. We sat at the bar. The bartender Jordan was doing double duty with the bar patrons and helping out at the service bar rush. So much booze, and shots going out, you would think it was a noon OSU home game. Jordan was quick, friendly, full of answers and suggestions. A plain OJ came in a pint. Generous and tasty. The pork. When you look over the breakfast menu, the pork is the item that looks like they smoke, season and slow cook themselves. Unfortunately they buy it already shredded, and slow cook it for hours. That sounds precooked and slow soaked in a seasoned broth. Since I ordered the burrito subbing the pork for chicken, I got a taste. Tuna! I had to ask my wife to smell and taste the pork, to confirm a similarity to tuna. Maybe it was chicken. No, I do believe it was the pork. Other than the massive size and presentation, I found it mediocre. The same way a chipotle burrito is huge- stuffed with rice. My wife had the smothered tot breakfast. Eggs, chorizo, and cheese. First thought was disappointment on the small 6" skillet size. By the end she was full though. She had several suggestions on a better execution of it, based on many experiences of trying others. Bathrooms were standard campus expectations. Nothing special to make me race the meter to eat my breakfast here. I have been to Ethyl a few times. Once for breakfast. Once for lunch. Once for a night out with friends. After those three times, I believe they land solidly at a 4 star. I think it it most important to say: I did have a 5 star burger for lunch. The serving size was huge and the tots on the side were delicious. Their buns melt in your mouth. SO good! When it comes down to it, their lunch menu is pretty unrivaled for campus prices. It has been a long time since I had their breakfast so I am not going to cover that. Outside of breakfast and lunch, Ethyl turns into a pretty packed-full bar scene at night. We showed up at 11. We had to wait in line and didn't get in until 11:35. Once inside, it was VERY packed. The environment inside was awesome for a college student. However, I would not recommend Ethyl for non-college-students past about 9 pm. Overall: Definitely worthy of a stop by for lunch! I went here on a Saturday afternoon as I heard of this place from someone and the Instagram presents it to be a cool place to try. Immediately I was turned off by the cleanliness and appearance. In the middle of campus, which was not the main issue but there's one gender-neutral restroom that's prob best to skip and use outdoors. We were never greeted so we seated ourselves. I don't fit Ethyl and Tanks typical demographics but then again Ethyl and Tank isn't your typical college bar either. It's really rather nice and it would be an easy fit in the Short North or further up in Clintonville. They've got a great happy hour with half price drinks and some decently priced, about average food from their smallish but well rounded menu. It's more a bar with food as opposed to a restaurant and it's got an arcade upstairs (wasn't impressed) and it's got a great vibe to it. It's clean, colorful and during the off season, it's a great place to hang out. They even have a small patio. So long story short, fellow Yelper Ryan S. suggested it as a happy hour destination last week so as I'd been there several times before, I quickly said "Sure, sounds good to me". It was a good visit with one of my favorite review writers in Columbus. Everything was great despite a bump in the road regarding my order of Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Our server Allison was very proactive and took care of it quickly and did so in a manner much better than I'd ever expect from a campus area bar. In other words, it was 5 star service. It's a cool relaxing place to hang out. I recommend it and when you read Ryan's review you'll see he recommends it too. I'm a fan and I'm glad to give them 4 Stars. And If You Like... Ethyl and Tank is bullshit. It's a breakfast place in the morning. Then it becomes a lunch and dinner place. It has a really great happy hour at least. Then it becomes your typical trashy underage campus shitfest. It seems to have an identity crisis. It opens for breakfast serving the same tired trendy breakfast food. This here would be chicken and waffles. It gets kind of better for lunch and dinner. There's more vegetarian friendly items. It's not that many but there's something unlike at breakfast. There's a pretty good tasting hummus and vegetable wrap. It's about $10 and comes with kettle chips. That's too fucking much no matter how possibly good it is. It also had very little hummus. The happy hour is from 3 to 9 and has some great prices. It has cocktails for about $3 so there's something good about it. The bartenders actually have to be willing to serve you though. If you get there early enough you can actually get a table if you're lucky. The act of being served is another thing. It took about 20 minutes for someone to say anything. The later you come the worse it gets. It then becomes a brofest. They only let in 21 and older and those with fakes. It's on the street with all the frats so it becomes jabroni central. The female bartenders are also stuck up and won't give you attention if you aren't hot enough for them. I hate most things about Ethyl and Tank. It has one of the best happy hours around.
